S5E2 Rob Greenlee-How Any Podcaster Can Monetize

S5E2 Rob Greenlee-How Any Podcaster Can Monetize

Rob Greenlee, host of Spreaker Live and New Media Show as well as being Head of Partnerships over at Voxnest stops by to talk about what exactly Voxnest is and what the company can do for us podcasters!

I know a lot of podcasters are interested in "monetization" and this might be an answer to your prayers. They have an interesting platform. It's built with the everyday podcaster in mind, and it doesn't sound like it's a difficult process as far as the "Ad Insertion" part goes.

Rob shares with us his knowledge from both his years in radio and the decade plus he's also put into the world of podcasting. Lot's of valuable information here folks. Not to mention, he's just got a great voice!

Make sure you're taking notes! Another great guest for Podcasting 101!

S5E1 Rob Walch and Why Your Podcast Needs Alexa

S5E1 Rob Walch and Why Your Podcast Needs Alexa

Welcome back to a brand new season of Podcasting 101!

In this weeks episode, Rob Walch, VP of Podcast Relations over at Libsyn stops by to talk a bunch of new things happening in the podcasting world. His advice, "if you're not on Spotify, you don't care about your podcast!"

Rob updates us on how to use Apple Analytics, as well as why Alexa's new Alexa Skills is going to be a game changer for your podcast!

We also discuss the death of Soundcloud, the life expectancy of Anchor and at the time of this recording... putting google play (for podcasting) out to pasture. This is of course before Google announced it was putting in some concentrated effort to help put more podcasts in more ears in the coming ears via all of their Google platforms.

I also announce something new that will be taking place during this season of Pod 101. That's right, starting next week micro episodes of  Professor Pod's Helpful Tips & Tricks to Starting a Podcast, will debut. Every other week I'll be releasing an episode focusing on a particular aspect of podcasting that will hopefully help new podcasters face their fears, give them the information they need, and they can go off and start their own podcasts!

Thanks for listening, if you like what you hear, please feel free to spread the word!

S4E7 Giving a Voice to the Voiceless w/ Dave Jackson & Elsie Escobar

S4E7 Giving a Voice to the Voiceless w/ Dave Jackson & Elsie Escobar

Dave Jackson returns to the podcast to discuss the different ways people include their personal lives in their podcast. We also chat having a healthy balance between podcasting and the rest of your life.

Once Dave takes off... we bring in Elsie, who is coming down from the mountains and into civilization. Just ignore the dog in the back ground... for she's calling from the road and we are doing a live broadcast so all quiet like studio stuff is thrown out the window for this episode.

Elsie talks a bit about the 2017 changes at Libsyn. She doesn't announce a Stat's app... but we threaten to spread the word about it anyway. We also talk about the Power of Podcasting and How it's changed each of our lives!

Dan Evans, Cohost of the Deconstructing Dad podcast (yes... it's part of the Monkey Poo Studios family of podcasts) and Courtney Caulkins of the Quadcast Podcast join in on the discussion, while Neighbor Cole from the 7 Days a Geek podcast (yes... this one is part of Monkey Poo Studios too) moderates the chatroom.

**This is the second hour of the LIVE celebration of podcasting we host each year in October known as Podtoberfest. While the episode may have been recorded previously, the information, topics and discussion is timely and shouldn't be missed**

S4E6 Welcome to Night Vale Presents:It Makes a Sound 101

This episode was recorded live during the annual Podcasting Celebration event known as Podtoberfest that I do every year. In this first hour, Jacquelyn Landgraf from "It Makes a Sound" joins us to discuss her new Audio Drama. She tells us how the project first came together and about all of the hard work that goes into producing an episode. During that conversation, friend of the show, and amazing podcaster, Dave Jackson of "The School of Podcasting" calls in to join the show as well.

This is a fun and fantastic hour all about podcasting!

Thanks so much for listening and for all of your continued support dear listener!

    S4E2 Quadcast 101

    S4E2 Quadcast 101

Courtney Calkins, the man, the myth, the legend from the Quadcast Podcast joins me today for a discussion on being an authentic host. It's what attracts us as listeners, and it's what will attract listeners to you as a podcast host. Bring the energy!

We also discuss methods to prevent "Pod Fading" and social media tactics in building your audience. I'll give you a hint, be social!

Never stop learning or trying to master your craft. Courtney talks about bragging when he first started that he never edited his show. Over the course of producing his shows, he's taught himself how to create smooth transitions, and segment bumpers. He loves placing music beds through out the course of an episode. His show has become highly produced. I think it's an aural work of art.

Podcasting is one of the few forms of entertainment where you can not only build relationships but form solid friendships! If you're producing your podcast, I'm sure you're hoping to be able to give something to the listener, but if you allow it, the listener will give something back. Podcasting can be a fun filled personal journey of discovery. It can be therapeutic. Be transparent and honest with your audience. You'll be a better host, and you'll have a better show because of it.

Courtney is a self taught indie podcaster with the production value of an NPR show, but with the energy of an afternoon morning show! It's talk radio at it's finest. It's a podcast about the podcaster.

I for one think it deserves a subscription on your playlist!

    iTunes:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/quadcast-podcast/id942359443?mt=2

Also in this show, I begin production...errrrr...construction on the new Monkey Poo Studios project! More information to come in the coming weeks.

    Keep listening....and keep podcasting!

    S4E1 Lore 101

    S4E1 Lore 101

Aaron Mahnke from the world wide phenomenon podcast known as Lore is interviewed in this episode. Aaron takes us from what was a simple (almost deleted) mistake, to a podcast that is now an upcoming television show, with a full season coming to Amazon Prime. Lore is about to become a book series too.

Listen to how one podcaster went from just wanting to tell stories....to living a dream! The man actually admits to having to sometimes pinch himself.

I'll be honest, I was extremely honored to spend more than the 30 minutes we had booked talking to Aaron. He's kind, intelligent, and very generous. I hope that everyone who listens to this episode learns something and is inspired to keep podcasting, or to continue on.

You can find Lore wherever you listen to podcasts. Find Aaron over at @amahnke and say hi!

I also have a quick "How Has Podcasting Changed Your Life" story from Ran Levi. Another podcaster who went from podcasting, to becoming a respected person in his field. He's been on TV. He's written books. Podcasting has indeed changed his life for the better and I'm so happy he shared his story with us! You can find Ran on twitter at @RanLevi

S3E5 Tell Me Stories with Paula Allen 101

S3E5 Tell Me Stories with Paula Allen 101

In this episode of Podcasting 101 I get a chance to meet face to face with a fantastic story teller, Paula Allen. This is something I hope to be doing more often with this show. Meeting podcasters, and talking all things podcasting in person.

Paula has been podcasting for well over a year now, but only releasing episodes now for just over 6 months. Lot's of practicing. Lots and lots of tape!

We discuss everything from her evolution of recording stories, to creating a podcast revolving around her passion for live music, and all the work that goes into traveling from venue to venue, to meet with live musical acts, to get true and honest stories for them.

She is so committed to podcasting and the music scene she is actually building herself a mobile podcasting studio that she will take with her to music festival's all across Canada.

If you're looking to be inspired to start podcasting, or get rejuvenated by someone who is so in love with podcasting, then this episode should do the trick!

    S2E11 Coffee With Kenobi

    S2E11 Coffee With Kenobi

This episode we have on the two awesome hosts of Coffee with Kanobi, a coffee house style chat about all things Star Wars. We discuss the importance of connecting with listeners via Social media, like Twitter, and how being real and genuine can bring in the audience. Their show has come a long way from their first attempt at recording. The first attempt taking an astounding 14 hours to record, with only 18 minutes of listenable material, to now being featured on StarWars.com

A few things we learned from both Dan and Cory are that family and friendship come first, before the podcast, so they work together using clear communication, and balancing each other out, to make sure everything gets done.  They advise this; you can't fail at something when you are doing it for fun, and you can find your own voice through practice on the mic.

We also have a podcaster who shares his "How has podcasting change my life" story. He is the one and only, Kip Clark, host of the "Stride and Saunter" podcast, which can be found here:http://www.strideandsaunter.com/

Also weighing in on his side of the podcasting world, with another Podcast Review, is non other than our good buddy Andrew Johnstone, previously of the now defunct but still reputable Podcast Squared. Andrew joins us to give you, the listener, a review on the podcast "Cardboard!" hosted by Rich Sommer, a podcast all about board games. You can find Cardboard! here:http://cardboard.wolfpop.com/

If you would like to share with us how podcasting has changed your life or if you have suggestions for a guest, please send us an email! We'd love to hear from you!
