Hi there! I’m Sara, a career coach with some perhaps unconventional, some might say radical perspectives on work. This is a space for real and honest conversation about finding fulfillment in your career, specifically all the ins and outs of making a career change toward work that you actually want to do. And even if you don’t know what you want to do, or feel like you have no clue, that’s ok. We’ll talk about that too. Join me to inspire your own journey of living your most authentic, free and fully expressed life. Yes, we’re gonna talk about work, but also life! Because it’s all connected, loves. We’re gonna get existential, spiritual and deeply reflective about what’s really going on inside. What we’re really talking about is how you want to spend your time here. And you get to create anything you want. Is it messy? 100% Yes. Making changes to find alignment is deeply emotional and personal and brings up all your fears and conditioning. But if we move through it all, on the other side, we get to be fully here in the world as ourselves! If what I’m talking about resonates with what you’re moving through in your own life and you would like some support, I offer one-on-one coaching sessions. Holding Double-Standards: “That’s Ok For Other People But Not For Me”

Holding Double-Standards: “That’s Ok For Other People But Not For Me”

We often struggle to take our own advice or be loving to ourselves the way we would a friend. When it comes to work, you’d likely tell a friend to pursue what they really want or you deep down don’t believe success = someone’s worth. BUT…you can’t live from that, still captivated by those fears/beliefs…Why? Today I explore this and ways we can begin to shift toward living from what we know to be really true.

Being Willing To Hear What We Want Through The Fear with Brita Dawn

Being Willing To Hear What We Want Through The Fear with Brita Dawn

I sit down again with my bestie Brita Dawn to unpack some of the ways we avoid acknowledging or acting on our desires for change in our work. There’s so much fear. Fear of getting “wrong” and discovering the change it not what you really want, fear of changing your self-narrative or identity, fear of what others might think if you have a nonlinear resume, fear of asking for what you want and getting a ‘No’, and fear not knowing how you’re going to get what you want so you do a fuzzy check out and avoid looking at your desires all together!

The truth is we’re human beings, we’re dynamic. We’re always in flux and in transition. So, how can we find the willingness to meet ourselves and our changing desires/wants?

You Get To Be Where You Are

You Get To Be Where You Are

When one thinks of making a career change there can be this energy of needing to “get ready” for change, of psyching yourself up, or thinking you need to push and force yourself to get out there and make something happen…and an urgency to make something happen NOW! It’s totally exhausting and self-inflicting of a lot of pain.

In this episode, I suggest there’s another way. I talk about letting life unfold, letting the next steps come to you, no pushing or forcing to make something happen or making moves that are hard on your nervous system. And to do that we have to learn to wait and listen to when the energy for action is up under us. Maybe we can let life unfold, maybe we don’t have to try so hard, or at all…if we’re willing to let go of control.

It helps if we land in a realization that it’s safe to not know what’s next, it’s safe to be in this liminal space and fall into not knowing ‘what you’re doing.’ And if we stop striving for external (and internal!) circumstances to be ‘just so’ before you are enough. You get to be exactly where you are.

The Mental Tracking Hijacking Your Life And What It Means to Let It Go To Discover Your True Self

The Mental Tracking Hijacking Your Life And What It Means to Let It Go To Discover Your True Self

Have you noticed how much of your day is directed by thoughts referencing external directives on what you should be doing? Both with your life in general and moment to moment throughout the day? There’s a constant background anxiety and vigilance. What would it be like to put that mental tracker aside and move from something more true and alive? In this episode I unpack this mental tracker, explore the process of letting it go, and discuss how your true self and aligned life is discovered only when we move from the energy that’s coming through us, not the mental tracker.

When A New Job Is Not What You Expected

When A New Job Is Not What You Expected

In this episode I tackle a topic that maybe isn’t talked about so much…when a new job just isn’t working out. Maybe it’s very different from what you thought it would be like. Or perhaps you’re not performing well (or just got let go). Either way, it’s stressful and can feel isolating, confusing and a whole roller coaster of other emotions including shame, anger, frustration, sadness etc. In listening my hope is that you feel less alone and take a step toward learning how to meet everything internally that this situation is bringing up.

When Chronic Illness Throws Your World Upside Down

When Chronic Illness Throws Your World Upside Down

Are you experiencing a chronic illness or even just a bad case of burnout that’s making your current work unsustainable? I get it. And the deep challenges. Illness is life taking you from the game and putting you on the sidelines. But in that are some silver linings. In this episode, I share my experience of developing chronic lyme disease, how I work with others with illness/burnout, and some different (hopefully helpful!) perspectives on what you may be going through.

    Moving From Desire vs. Shoulds

    Moving From Desire vs. Shoulds

Many of us have been moving from 'shoulds,' fear, conditioning…but when we want to go for a more authentic and fulfilling life we have to learn to move from something else: DESIRE. But even knowing what you desire, what you genuinely want or enjoy, can be a struggle. In this episode I discuss my own journey with this and some pointers on the process of getting in touch with you.

Being At Work: Who Is Doing Your Job?

Being At Work: Who Is Doing Your Job?

Changing your job may only solve part of the issue. Depletion is also caused by how you approach work in general. There’s often a performer, a move to control, a part of you needing to hit the marks that’s anxiously at work all day. In this episode I explore this, share my own struggles with performing, and discuss how we might be able to put down “not safe” to find more ease and enjoyment in our day.

Caring About What Others Think About Your Career Change

Caring About What Others Think About Your Career Change

It’s not uncommon to fear that others may judge you, project on to you, make up false stories about your life and decisions. In this episode, I discuss what this fear is really about and how we can shift the focus away from these fears (which are often our own stories and projections!).

The Things We Tell Ourselves That Keep Us In Jobs We Hate

The Things We Tell Ourselves That Keep Us In Jobs We Hate

A lot of our exhaustion from work can be coming from the things we’re telling ourselves about our situation. Painful thoughts about yourself, what leaving this job might mean, fears of judgment etc. That inner voice chattering away at you all day is extremely exhausting. And if you listen to and believe what it’s saying, you’ll feel trapped, terrified of change, and become more and more depleted. In this episode I dive into some of the common thoughts many including myself have had (ex. I should want this job, there’s something wrong with me, I’ll be a failure etc.) and explore how to move through them so they’re less captivating and paralyzing.
