Pastor Austin continues his series in James this week. You can receive from God, enjoy what God has given you, and still love the God who gives more than what he gives. But the only way for this to be possible is through the discipline of generosity. 

Pastor Austin continues his sermon series on James. God loves people, so you can’t hate that which God loves and claim to be okay with God. Everyone is someone Jesus died for. Your love for God is affirmed and authenticated by your love for others, and the greatest test of our corporate sincerity of this truth is through the test of conflict. Conflict is hard, but it is an ideal litmus test of your love of God. 

So given how important and common words are to us, it’s shouldn’t be surprising that God’s word has something to say about your words. And James has already touched on this back in chapter 1 when he said we should be quick to listen and slow to speak, but now in chapter three he devotes a good deal of time addressing God’s design for our words. Words are powerful because they can bless and curse.

Maybe you’ve been convinced that you could pull yourself up to God by your own human effort. The bad news for you is that you can’t. You can’t ever reach high enough to get to God on your own. But the good news for you is that right here, right now, the Lord is reaching out to you. The good news for you is that Jesus’ work on the cross is the only work you need to be saved. God is calling you to put your faith in him, not just your cognitive knowledge, but the trust of a child who falls willingly into their father’s arms. 

Pastor Austin continues his sermon series on James. He brings us his message from chapter 3 verses 13-18. Spiritual knowledge without the love of Christ is dangerous. Spiritual knowledge without the love of Christ is how we have ended up with Christian endorsements of things counter to the kingdom.

A moralistic faith is wisdom detached from Jesus – advice without sovereignty. Works without faith. I do believe the Bible has a great deal of good advice that would make your life better whether you’re a believer or not, but if you miss Jesus you miss the whole point of the Bible

This week Pastor Austin continues his series in James with chapter 1:9-18.
God honors the fight, so keep fighting. Daily. Doubt is the first fight that we have to be ready for in trials, and there’s one more...the fight of comparison. 

This week Pastor Austin starts a new series on the book of James. James says trials will come. And other Biblical authors like Paul and Peter echo James’ claim, and Jesus says it all before they do. Trials will come.

What if this was the year when your salvation through grace was not just a gift to receive but a gift to give to the last person you’d expect? Pastor Austin finishes his series on Jonah this week with his final message. 

Nineveh is important to God, even if it is not important to Jonah. If you understand this you understand the book of Jonah. Pastor Austin brings us his message from Jonah 3 this morning. 

Jonah could not escape his own prejudice toward the Ninevites. Or one other way – as one of the core truths of Scripture reminds us that we too are prone to wander, prone to leave the God we love. We are the runaways. Pastor Howard continues our Runaway series on Jonah with Jonah chapter 2. 

When God confronts us with our own sin, he creates an opportunity for us to respond to his mercy. God is mercifully pursuing you today, and I want to invite you to ask the Holy Spirit for His help in receiving God’s radical mercy in your life today.
