    In this episode of Run with Fitpage, we have Emeritus Professor Dr. Mike Lambert to discuss all about quantification of training load, especially for runners, with our host and Founder Vikas Singh. 

    Emeritus Professor Mike Lambert, a distinguished figure in exercise science, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town, which he completed in 1990. His illustrious academic career saw him ascend to full professorship in 2009. Prof. Lambert boasts an impressive publication record, with 262 research papers and one patented work, collectively cited over 11,000 times. As a mentor, he has supervised or co-supervised 30 Ph.D. students. Having served as the Editor-in-Chief of the South African Journal of Sports Medicine and an executive committee member of the South African Sports Medicine Association, his influence extends beyond the academic realm. In 2021, he retired from his academic position and transitioned into the role of a senior research scholar at UCT.

    Dr. Mike Lambert is a road running enthusiast with a remarkable running portfolio. He has conquered three Comrades marathons (90 km) and secured the 43rd position in 1982. His achievements also include nine Two Oceans marathons (56 km), with another notable 43rd position in 1986. Prof. Lambert boasts an impressive record of 43 standard marathons, with a personal best time of 2:33, and has successfully completed 13 ultra-marathons, showcasing his enduring passion and prowess in the world of long-distance running.

Dr. Forbes has published over 115 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 5 book chapters. His research examines various nutritional (e.g., creatine and protein) and exercise interventions to enhance muscle, bone, and brain function in a variety of populations, including athletes and aging adults.

    Welcome to a special reprise on Run with Fitpage! In episode 157, we revisit an insightful conversation with the esteemed Hugh Jones, Race Director of the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). With the upcoming TMM 2024 on Sunday, January 21st, this episode is a timely exploration of the race and Hugh's remarkable journey.

    Hugh Jones, a retired British long-distance runner, boasts a rich legacy in marathon history. Born in London, he clinched victory in the 1982 London Marathon, becoming the first Welshman to do so with an impressive time of 2:09:24. His marathon prowess continued with a notable 12th position in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, clocking 2:13:57. In 1983, Jones secured a close second in the Chicago Marathon and triumphed in the Stockholm Marathon with a record-setting time of 2:11:37.
    Not merely confined to his athletic achievements, Hugh Jones assumed pivotal roles post-retirement. Since 1996, he has served as the Secretary of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Additionally, he took the helm as the President of the Road Runners Club from 2007 to 2011.     Ep 154: Journey From 2:40 Half Marathon to a 3:14 Marathon with Kishore Shelake

    In this episode of Run with Fitpage, we have the pleasure of interviewing one of our trainees - Kishor Shelake, who is currently based in Dublin, Ireland. Kishor and Vikas discuss Kishor's journey to completing the Dublin Marathon with some great timing, in the final episode of the year 2023!

    Kishor Shelake, a resilient runner hailing from Satara, has transformed his running journey under the guidance of Fitpage. Despite completing only 80% of the training, he conquered the Dublin Marathon comfortably within the targeted time. Kishor's running adventure began in 2016 with the Satara Hill Half Marathon (SHHM), where initial struggles fueled his determination. After facing challenges and learning from failures, he completed the Berlin Marathon in an impressive 3:25, significantly improving from his previous time of 3:56. Motivated by the desire to surprise his wife and fueled by frustration from not giving his best, Kishor joined Fitpage's Satara run group. His dedication and commitment are reflected in his remarkable progress, culminating in a stellar performance at the 2023 SHHM, completing it in an impressive 1:36.

    Looking ahead, Kishor sets ambitious goals, aiming for a Sub 3:00 finish in the London Marathon and targeting a Sub 1:30 time in the SHHM. Balancing life and running, Kishor emphasizes the importance of patience, quality training, and maintaining a well-rounded life. He encourages fellow runners and beginners to trust Fitpage's training plans and advises putting oneself in uncomfortable positions to conquer any obstacles on the path to success. Kishor's journey exemplifies that success demands time and effort but is ultimately a rewarding endeavor.

Breaking the men's 50-mile world record with an impressive time of 4:48:21, Lawrence demonstrated his prowess in ultrarunning. A former standout at the University of Minnesota with All-Big Ten and All-Region accolades, Lawrence's journey into long distances began with notable achievements in marathons and half marathons. His commitment to coaching, and guiding around 14 to 15 individuals, showcases his dedication to sharing his wealth of running knowledge. Having paced Des Linden for the 50k world record, Lawrence has seamlessly transitioned into ultrarunning, culminating in a remarkable feat at Tunnel Hill.

    As a resident and professional runner in Boulder, Colorado, Lawrence brings a unique perspective to coaching, blending methodologies from esteemed coaches like Steve Plasencia and Dathan Ritzenhein.
