The court also ruled that a website designer has the right to refuse to create websites for same-sex couples, a decision that comes half a decade after the court ruled that a cake shop owner had a first amendment right to refuse to bake cakes for LGBTQ+ customers. Barrett and Luna unpack the corruption of the court and discuss the conservative tilt that the court has now. 

The rulings are upsetting and show a bleak future, but Barrett says it's better for people to be informed rather than ignorant, coining this week's phrase, "Awareness is bliss."

This topic was inspired by a TikTok Luna saw that confused her because it framed being nice as harmful and being kind as helpful. Barrett explains that the video's creator takes the words "nice" and "kind" at surface level without attaching an underlying philosophy of good to both of them. Barrett also reconstructs a phrase about kindness, shifting it from focusing on being kind to practicing kindness.

Barrett gets into this idea by discussing his young son’s newfound obsession with cheese. Yes, you read that right. Barrett also reframes the idea that having a child is a burden on the parent. Instead, he says parenting is a collaboration with children, not a right to exercise power or control over them.
