    The final round of Shield action before Christmas has plenty on the line, with four teams a chance to top the table by its conclusion. 

    The Redbacks will farewell a stalwart against Queensland, Tasmania face a huge task against NSW, and Victoria and WA will meet for the first time since last years MCG abandonment.

    The boys also break down the numbers behind this summer's run fest, and look forward to the ODI's against India later this month.

    The first full round of Shield action saw two Victorians bat themselves into the record books, Shaun Marsh continue his transition into a Penfolds Grange, and a thrilling finish between NSW and Queensland.

    Willem discusses the health of the Shield with ABC Grandstand's Alister Nicholson, while also considering candidates for Australia A selection.

    All matches are reviewed in full as always, with Shane Watson's Shield figures also under the microscope.

    All six sides will be in action at once for the first time this summer, with WA looking to extend their time at the top against Tasmania, Victoria opening their campaign against the Redbacks, and a heavyweight clash between the Blues and Bulls.

    Each match is previewed in full as the boys also debate the state of the Baggy Red, and investigate a 1950's tragedy at Karen Rolton Oval.

    We also pay our respects to our friends in WA who will be without international cricket this summer for the first time in 50 years, and apportion the blame squarely on one man.

    Six tons and plenty of runs punctuated Round 2 of the Sheffield Shield, in which South Australia clung on for dear life to earn a draw against Tasmania.

    NSW and WA cracked 1000 runs for just 18 wickets between them, as Australia's next big thing continued to thump on the door. 

    Cricbuzz's Bharat Sundaresan joins the show to review the highlights of the week, including how Jason Gillespie can build on the Redbacks foundations, while the boys preview the proposed fixture for the international summer.

    Shield Informed Round 1 Review, 2020/21

    Both Queensland and WA clinched victory in the final hour of their Sheffield Shield clashes with Tasmania and the Redbacks to cap off an engrossing start to the season.

    The boys review both clashes while bowing down before Ashton Agar and Michael Neser, while also taking aim at the Betoota Advocate's tired, reheated sledging. 

    Alistair Nicholson stepping down from his ACA role, Shaun Marsh's place in the record books and the London Bus theory are all in the mix for good measure.

    New balls will be taken in two huge clashes as the Shield returns this Saturday, with Queensland to play Tasmania and the Redbacks to host WA.

    It's been a winter of uncertainty but, mercifully, the Sheffield Shield returns this week for it's 119th season, meaning we're back for our second!

    On our season preview we run the rule over every player listed by each state, look at the ins and outs, and review a couple of the off-season's big coaching changes.

    We also pay tribute to Dean Jones, say sayonara to the Duke's ball, and delve into the history of Adelaide's Elphick Park.

Round six promises similar action, with the boys looking ahead to a top of the table clash between NSW and Queensland, Victoria hosting WA, and George Bailey's farewell clash in Tasmania.

    The Australian's Peter Lalor also joins the show to discuss the MCG pitch, young Australian talent, future Test captains and plenty more.

    Shield Informed previews round four of the Sheffield Shield. NSW are looking to prolong their perfect start to the season against WA, while SA and Victoria are looking to break their ducks as they host Tasmania and Queensland respectively.

    The boys preview each match in detail, while also highlighting some of the unsung young stars emerging across the country. The Australia A squad is also on the agenda, with some of the big names of the domestic scene battling it out for a place in the first Test against Pakistan.
