    God Meant It For Good

    God Meant It For Good

Guest Speaker and Evangelist David Minson presents a timely lesson about the complex topic of victimhood in today's culture. David asks listeners to examine the experiences of biblical characters such as Joseph and Job to understand our response to suffering - both of ourselves and others - and to learn how suffering may be used for good rather than evil. Ultimately, audiences are encouraged to identify with Christ's suffering on the cross so that we may be empowered to endure trials for the great reward we will share with him in heaven.

[Gen 50:20 NKJV] 20 "But as for you, you meant evil against me; [but] God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive."

    Why We Forgive

    Why We Forgive

This powerful lesson was given by Terry Lewis, an elder at Sooner East Church of Christ, and is about why Christians are exhorted to practice forgiveness with others.

[Eph 4:31-32 NKJV] 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

    Be That Church

    Be That Church

Sooner's 2023 Summer Gospel Meeting comes to a close with a commission from Brother Ty Fleming to "be that church" that we aspire to be. We are reminded that we hold the capability to choose whether we want to grow God's Kingdom or let congregations fade away. Therefore, we must ask ourselves, "What are we going to do about it?"

    Strong Women

    Strong Women

In this lesson, Ty Fleming turns our attention to women's leadership roles and responsibilities within the church as ordained by scripture. Women are also called to rise up along with men in wisdom and boldness to meet the challenges facing the church today. Their unique gifts from God allow women to create incredible change for His kingdom by demonstrating the type of character that is needed for churches and families to become strong.

[Pro 31:10-12, 17, 20, 25-26, 28-29 NKJV] 10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth [is] far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. ... 17 She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms. ... 20 She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. ... 25 Strength and honor [are] her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue [is] the law of kindness. ... 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband [also], and he praises her: 29 "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all."

    Strong Men

    Strong Men

Sooner's 2023 Summer Gospel Meeting continues with a lesson from evangelist, Ty Fleming, on the leadership qualities and responsibilities that God has placed on men in the church. Ty examines how men ought to conduct themselves both in and out of the assembly, and he presents a call for strong men to rise up and accept the challenges that are placed before them with wisdom and boldness - according to God's word.

[Psa 1:1-3 NKJV] 1 Blessed [is] the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
