    St. Paul Naples Podcast

In a world of ever-increasing confusion and blurred boundaries, we at St. Paul seek to be grounded, as the (Orthodox Christian) Church has been since Pentecost over 2,000 years, in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Savior - Who is the TRUTH. Inspired by the word of God, hear the message from Father Paul Girgis as he responds to Christ's call to repent and be transformed, healed of our brokenness, by His grace.

Our Savior teaches us even those suffering…the good things they will enjoy on accounts of the sufferings they will patiently endure in this life. The Lord teaches us those that endure to the end shall be saved and what awaits those who endure patiently to the end.

If we ignore the Christian struggle which is to be quiet, we will be left exhausted, discouraged, and with empty nets. The struggle is real. The toiling and intense laboring is real. We have to keep going. We have to take care of our business. But if we fall short, repent, start over, and come to confession. Ask the Lord for His strength, for His forgiveness, for His help. Pray for God’s guidance. Ask yourself what is most pleasing to God. Watch what kind of peace and happiness comes from this.

    Prayer:

Lord, in spite of all my weaknesses, in spite of all my shortcomings, in spite of all my struggles, in spite of all my sinfulness, I love you and I wish to love you better, and I wish to love You more. And as an expression of my love, I try to do Your commandments and Your holy will. I try to do what You want me to do and what You have planned for me in my life. And it depends on You Lord whether you will give me Your salvation and whether You will give me your grace.

    Amen

Today's reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew. (17:214-23)

What we need is fervency. We need more soul in what we say. A little bit of faith and the mountains can move as our Savior said. Do we feel wobbly sometimes? Wobbly with the temptation and chaos of the world? Steady yourselves through fervent prayer.

Submit Yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Theotokos reflects the light of her son, the son of righteousness. We should all feel so blessed and so full of joy to be able to celebrate this incredible feast of the Mother of God falling asleep, her dormition. Where the door passed through the door of this life into eternity. Where today the throne of God assents to the throne of God. What more is there to say to her than rejoice!

Christ is always the answer. No one or nothing else will deliver us the fulfillment of our life except for the Lord. We need to have faith, humility, and trust in him. This is all he seeks from you, your cooperation. May we keep the door of our soul open to him and thirst after him in order to be changed by him.

We learn that we can look for God’s help in our suffering only when we have faith and only when we have a  desire and resolve to struggle. Only when we have a willingness to make some little effort to embrace the Lord and to draw and stay close him to us so he may always be in our midst.

On the Sunday that falls from the 13th to the 19th of the present month, we chant the Service to the 630 Holy and God-bearing Fathers who came together for the 4th Ecumenical Council who assembled in Chalcedon in 451, to condemn Eutyches, who taught that there was only one nature, the divine, in Christ after the Incarnation, and Dioscorus, Patriarch of Alexandria, who illegally received Eutyches back into communion and deposed Saint Flavian, Patriarch of Constantinople, who had excommunicated Eutyches.
