    Faith Over Fear: An Athlete's Journey From Pregnancy to an Unexpected Postpartum Health Scare with Kristine Ziffra

    Today, I sit down with Kristine Ziffra, CEO at Peak Wellness Solutions LLC, to hear her amazing story as an athlete who was forced to weather an unexpected postpartum health scare, emerging stronger than ever thanks to the power of her faith.


    Kristine Ziffra has been involved in the fitness industry for 13 years. She worked at a big box gym for the first five of those years right out of college before making the leap into establishing her own fitness studio, FIT Project. She ended up building a 3200-square-foot facility, hiring eight coaches, and accumulating a pool of 20 clients.


    Six years later, in July of 2022, Kristine sold FIT Project to commit to coaching pregnant and postpartum women, a passion that blossomed out of her own recent pregnancy.


    Listen in as Kristine shares how she was able to breeze through her pregnancy while keeping up a solid level of fitness, only to be faced with the most difficult months of her life postpartum.

    At one point, she had to deal with the trauma of retained placenta—when the placenta doesn’t come out of the uterus completely after the baby is born.


    Kristine encourages us, through her example, to choose faith over fear, to refuse to play the victim, and adopt a mindset of resilience, joy, and gratitude for the miracle of childbirth.

    To Kristine, getting through that incredibly challenging year came down to using mindset to “control what I could and surrendering to the rest” by knowing her trust lies in God.

    Are your Hormones the Issue? Top 5 Ways to Naturally Find Out

    Hormones are ALL the rage right now! And while they’re always super relevant to your health journey, hormonal factors only continue to get more critical as you get up in age.


    Hormones are important substances that serve as chemical messengers in your body. They facilitate nearly every bodily process, including metabolism, hunger, and fullness. Because of their association with appetite, some hormones also play a significant role in body weight.


    However, I’ve noticed that hormones are often the first thing people blame, even before lifestyle choices and environmental factors, when they stall in their weight loss goals.


    It’s true: Hormones absolutely influence your body composition, but that doesn’t mean you have to be at their mercy. The key to a successful weight loss journey is to claim personal responsibility over those controllables, day after day.


    Keep in mind that I’m no medical professional. Always ask your doctor for advice if any of my suggestions get you thinking!


    With that foundation in place, tune in as I share the five main hormones that can affect your body composition during weight loss, and six steps to assessing whether you truly have a hormonal issue, or a lifestyle issue!

    What a great honor it was to be able to have Stephanie Danielle on with us. She's a Relationship Healer, Soul Contract Expert, and Intuitive Energy Reader. Stephanie is committed to being a supportive voice in a noisy and often-confusing space.


    Her incredible story is one that you are NOT going to want to miss, especially if you are someone who has gone through infertility, miscarriage, or any other challenge that can come with birthing and motherhood.

    “The deeper the trauma,” says Stephanie, “the greater the distortion around that trauma.”

Speaking directly to those suffering the multilayered loss that comes with a miscarriage, Stephanie implores women to keep trusting their body no matter what. That starts when we find the meaning associated with the loss.


    According to Stephanie, “When we go through a miscarriage or an infertility struggle, we’re made to feel like there is something wrong with our body. We never think about it from the perspective of, ‘What are we facilitating for the soul so that it may come through us?’”


    To illustrate all of this, Stephanie shares her own heart-wrenching and inspiring story of having struggled with the loss of life and a piece of herself, and how fully surrendering and listening to her soul afterward allowed her to gain more than she ever could have desired!

    Today I sit down with mompreneur and fitness coach Lauren George to talk about how she was able to scale her business empire all while raising a family! An entrepreneur at heart, Lauren saw fitness early on as an excellent way to grow holistically, both personally and professionally. To that end, she’s built a range of offerings, from virtual classes to in-person workshops and retreats, to help women build the fitness business of their dreams!


    When I asked how she is able to juggle life as an entrepreneur and her responsibilities as a busy mom, Lauren replies that it’s all about reminding herself daily that “everything is figure out-able.” She explains how she and her husband (who also works an extremely demanding job) work out the logistics of business and parenthood with strategies like time blocking, alongside a lot of dinner table conversations to make sure they’re always on the same page.


    Finally, Lauren breaks down how she is able to keep up her personal level of fitness in-between training her clients, and tells us why adding strength training into one’s workout routine is a must for women!

    Welcome to my VERY first Podcast Episode of Taryn Swears! 


    This will be the most vulnerable and raw that I’ve been in a long while, unless you follow me on Instagram — you’ll get snippets there, too! 


    But hey, I’m Taryn Perry, a Mom of 4 incredible humans, wife to my super rad husband, an entrepreneur, a Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, a career Fitness Trainer, and your soon-to-be podcast BFF! 


    Since 2008, I’ve mostly shared my journey through fitness, nutrition & motherhood via social platforms — Facebook & Instagram. And while it’s always been authentic to what I’m going through during each phase of having kids, I knew I wanted to open up more “behind the scenes” and truly EDUCATE listeners on specific struggles that aren’t always shared.  We only get to see the before & afters, but never get the nitty gritty, or the “during.” 


    This podcast will truly be about things I SWEAR BY (yes, expect multiple f-bombs) regarding how I flipped my Mindset to focus on my Nutrition FIRST, so I could make a positive effect on my hormones, and come out of the funk & frustration I felt, and shit, I still do. You’ll be front row to the real & the raw, as I experience them, too! 


    In each episode, I plan to give you action-oriented nuggets, that I learned through my various nutrition schooling & certifications and allow you to create your own path of success, through mindset hacks, nutrition tips & workouts that support your hormones. 


    In this first episode, you will learn that I’m a straight shooter when it comes to educating people on nutrition — but in the most loving way! I’ll give you lots of back story of my journey to this point, so you can see the relatability in your own journey — but truly walk away knowing you have a strategy to work on after each episode. I want you to sit back and feel you truly know me and WHY I’m ridiculously passionate about what I do.
