Hello and welcome to "That's Good Parenting". The podcast that searches for simple steps to reduce your parenting stress. Sometimes those days of feeling like a "good parent" can feel few and far between.

And like you, I personally have struggled with parenting frustration, exhaustion, and even guilt. But I also know that there are solutions out there that we could put to use today.

My name is Dori Durbin.
It's my mission to search with you to find simple steps and tools to create confident and resilient kids-- without losing ourselves in the process.

You may be wondering who I am. I'm a former teacher, coach and fitness instructor turned children's book author and illustrator, as well as a book and parenting abundance coach.

More importantly, I'm a Christian wife and mom of two amazing young adults who, have quite uniquely put me through the parenting ringer myself. I've been fortunate enough to have interviewed hundreds of experts, parents and authors who have all created parenting tools that have your family's best interest at heart.

So let's stick together to find fast and effective solutions that fit our particular parenting problems. So that we can end war of our days cheering out: Now "That's Good Parenting!"

Susan Koehler is the author of two middle grade novels. Dahlia in Bloom, her first novel for young readers, was released August 2019 and was named among the "Best Books of 2019" by Kirkus Reviews. Nobody Kills Uncle Buster and Gets Away With It, a fast-paced contemporary mystery, was released August 2021 and in 2022 was named Children's Book of the Year by the Florida Writers Association.

In addition to being an author, Susan is a veteran educator and consultant who specializes in the teaching of reading and writing. Over the course of 36 years, she taught all grades from kindergarten through middle school and served as a reading coach and an adjunct professor. She has traveled across the country providing professional development and is the author of four professional books for teachers and five nonfiction books for children. Susan was the 2004 Leon County Teacher of the Year and the 2005 recipient of Florida's Mary Brogan Award for "Excellence in Teaching."

Shameka Andrews is the community outreach coordinator for the Self Advocacy Association of NYS. She also has extensive consulting experience with Disability Empowerment Consulting, where she provides disability workshops on self-care, self-advocacy and disability awareness.

In 2006 she won the title of Ms. Wheelchair NY and has been the coordinator of the program since 2013. In 2017 she wrote her first children’s book: Butterfly on Wheels.

Currently she serves on the NYS Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, Developmental Disability Advisory Council for OPWDD, and the NYS Human Rights Disability Committee.
