A Body does NOT Define You, Removing Toxic Body Shame and Judgment | Lauren Minicozzi | Ep 11

This week I got to chat with my dear friend, the self-love queen, Lauren Minicozzi.

Lauren has struggled with Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Depression, Anorexia, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and as a repercussion is currently battling an undefined chronic illness known as Lymes.

Through her own incredible healing, it led her to writing about her journey in the hope for females to be able to resonate with and help them on their own journeys to self-love. Her book 'A Journey to Health' is based around her experiences and what she did to free herself from the toxic cycle. To remove the shame, fear and isolation so many go through and help females find self-acceptance and body love. She's also got an amazing self-love journal which EVERYONE should have - it's super cute/pink with gorgeous illustrations!!!

Ladies (and gentleman), we only have our one bodies. Please stop looking at other bodies and thinking they have something that you DON'T! You are beautiful as you are, and you are uniquely you - it is time to own that!

I hope this podcast helps you towards that extra step to understanding YOU and loving YOUR BODY. It is literally keeping you alive!

From Tradie to Entrepreneur, Learning the Habits of becoming GREAT! | Jamie Totino | Ep 8

From Tradie to Entrepreneur, Learning the Habits of becoming GREAT! | Jamie Totino | Ep 8

So grateful I got to have this meaningful chat with Jamie Totino and talk about his life experiences and how he got into his business, Real Food Vending

Growing up as a regular Italian Aussie kid, loving sports with his brothers playing footy and cricket, Jamie got to a semi-professional level with VFL and almost started an AFL career. Jamie left school in year 11 to work as a tradie in construction like the rest of his family.

Being fit and active from a child to adulthood, he thought surely there are better fast food options than the sausage roll at the local bakery. With that came Jamie’s lightbulb moment of bringing healthy takeaway alternatives and Real Food delivery service was born in 2017. This has now rapidly evolved into a vending machine franchise and movement. Real Food Vending is available all over Victoria and expanding nationally, with each machine dispensing healthy, mouth-watering meals with just a tap.

Jamie has also built a highly successful education business travelling the country working with business owners coaching and mentoring them to help achieve greater professional and personal success.

This was dope and you can find my key takeaways here below!

    Podcast Show Notes:

    • How growing up in an Italian family shaped the foundations of adulthood
    • Leaving high school for trade school, spending a decade in construction and then starting a business
    • Making a hard choice between a football or construction career, and not regretting the decisions you make
    • The importance of physical health and sport which initiated the Real Food Vending business idea
    • The initial confidence and courage you need to get started
    • 119 phone calls to land the first business meeting for Real Food Vending!
    • Being direct in your communication via cold email or phone calls
    • Not every business has to be your passion project
    • Learning the skills in business and accepting you are going to make heaps of mistakes along the way!
    • Understanding what drives and motivates you and your staff members
    • What does greatness mean – Jamie’s first book release!

Talk about so GRATEFUL to have these guys on the show!!! I was privileged enough to be their very first guest on The Disruption Podcast (Episode 12 – check it out!) but moreover, I feel incredibly blessed to now call these guys my friends.

What it takes in the world of Tattoos, Family Life and Absolute Work Ethic | Mystik Arts | Ep 4

What it takes in the world of Tattoos, Family Life and Absolute Work Ethic | Mystik Arts | Ep 4

Episode 4, I am honoured to welcome my dear friend, Mystik Arts, a world-renowned tattoo artist specialising in script, lettering and black and grey. Mystik grew up from humble beginnings with graffiti on the streets of Brisbane, Queensland. He quickly transformed these skills from writing on trains to tattooing on skin. From a tattoo apprenticeship in 2012 and a background in business construction, Mystik has now built a lifestyle of his dreams. He works and lives on his terms with his own private tattoo studio, Harpoon and Highwater (Queensland). The studio now has 11 resident artists specialising in all styles of tattoos and has had over 60 international and interstate guests. Mystik himself has tattooed all over the world, but COVID-19 and nearly losing his partner Daniella and his son, Hunter, was a huge wake up call to redefine his priorities and focus.

He teaches us that money, business and career does not come without huge sacrifices. He gives us advice on following your passion, finding quality time with his family and the importance of human relationships and being kind.

I am so empowered by this man's story, if you ever see him at a national tattoo convention or can visit the studio in Brisbane, make sure to say hi and have a chat!

Living a life of service, finding your purpose & tackling homelessness | Roseanne Rofaeel | Ep 3

Living a life of service, finding your purpose & tackling homelessness | Roseanne Rofaeel | Ep 3

Born and raised in Melbourne to refugee parents, Roseanne Rofaeel enjoyed a comfortable childhood – but knew that her reality was not the same as others'.

When her plans to work as a missionary overseas were thwarted, she donated her 17th, 18th and 19th birthdays to build water wells for communities in Cambodia, Ethiopia and Mozambique.

She then turned her attention to the suffering she saw in her own backyard, among Melbourne's homeless community. In 2016, she founded Christmas on the Streets (COTS), a non-profit organisation that works to help break the stigma of homelessness, with the mantra: 'Homeless, not hopeless.'

COTS started with a one-off drive to deliver clothing, shoes, food vouchers, sanitary items, sleeping bags and mobile phones – and companionship – to homeless men and women. It has since grown to provide regular street runs and seasonal drives.

Roseanne is now working to extend COTS to become a national organisation to help disadvantaged people from all across Australia. A recent Young Australian of the Year finalist for Victoria 2020, I am so blessed to have Rose on this episode.

We chat all things family values, a life of service, how do we find our purpose and Rose shares some wise and important stories from the people she has met on the streets and in prison.
