Oliver was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1965 and graduated from Mannheim University in German Literature, Political Studies and Media Research. He has been inventing and telling stories since Kindergarten. A professed book lover, he taught himself to read at the age of four to finally be able to find out more about his favorite childhood heroes without adult support.
He has been working with texts since it first became a necessity for him to earn money. Since then, Oliver has written, translated, edited and copy-read virtually countless books. Also, he is one of the founders and former co-owner of the German publishing company Feder & Schwert ("The Pen& the Sword"), a special interest publishing house for all things fantastic. The Icelandic proverb "Better to be barefoot than to be without a book" rather sums up his perspective on life. He can claim that professionally, his dream has come true: he works on, with and for books.
As an experience designer, he has been writing, creating and facilitating Larps since the late 90s. Oliver is also the former project lead on one iteration of the College of Extraordinary Experiences and teaches Storytelling, Leadership, and Teambuilding (as well as various combinations thereof) at different German universities.
