    About Cameron Allen:

I am an astrologer, herbalist, Reiki practitioner, health consultant, budding yoga practitioner and spontaneous poet. I just want to start by sharing a little bit about myself that I feel is relevant to my work.

Firstly, I want to thank my parents. I grew up with a mother who was an enthusiast for the empowerment of women and always encouraged me how to think, instead of what to think. My father taught me about the discipline it takes to achieve in the world and the importance of understanding the discernment of life circumstances. These virtues instilled within me integrated in a way that created space for me to engage in a deeply uplifting and motivating practice, while also assisting others in finding out how to “walk the spiritual path with practical feet”, as one of my teachers says.

I began this path in college, while in pursuit of a health and sports science and psychology degree, where I experienced many things that could not be explained in current academia. This led me to seek a variety of traditions in order to understand the mind-body awareness connection. I started to build a deep relationship with nature which allowed me to de-condition myself enough to access an underlying energetic architecture that weaves through all traditions and is rooted in the understanding of nature.

All of my practices are grounded in years of invaluable direct experience with clients as the in-house herbalist and holistic health consultant working at a popular Spiritual supply store in Memphis, TN. Insights from elders, crystal healers, rootworkers, and basing my astrological practice in applicable and relevant circumstances has shaped my practice. Through these experiences I have accessed something beyond trust and faith in the Divine order of life.

Apart from my work with clients, I have extensive formal education from the School of Evolutionary Herbalism and the School of Evolutionary Astrology. I am Reiki attuned by my most influential teacher of life and spirit, Norma de Jesus. I am currently in the process of attaining my 200 hr RYT in Kundalini Yoga from Delta Groove Yoga in Memphis. I am also training to become an Ayurvedic Practitonrer. As I journey through higher education, I continue to deepen my knowledge in the interconnectivity of all traditions as they show me perspectives reflected in nature and begin with the Creator who unifies us all in spirit through the breath.

In this episode of  @The Connected Caroline Show , I interview Peggi Cooney, motivational speaker, social worker, and author of the quit-lit book "This Side of Alcohol: Random thoughts and candid words of pain, hope, humor, love."

Peggi Cooney entered the motivational speaking world through her journey to sobriety and her recently published book, This Side of Alcohol: Random thoughts and candid words of pain, hope, humor, love — and all that is possible in sobriety.

This Side of Alcohol is borne out of the cathartic journaling she did during the first two years following her break-up with alcohol. It tells the story of what she did to get and stay sober, allowing her to transform her shame, guilt, and anger into self-compassion, self-discovery, and forgiveness – of herself and others.

From self-loathing isolation to a joyous community of support and rediscovered intimacy with her family. From living her life engulfed in cognitive dissonance (teaching about the connection between trauma and addiction while she was drinking every evening) to the pride she feels today in being present and authentic in every aspect of her work and life. This Side of Alcohol is her story of living her sobriety out loud, telling the truth, and being at peace...

Peggi is a social work instructor/coach for a local California University. She has a Master’s degree from California State University at Chico and spent 16 years as a Child Welfare and Adult Protective Services social worker. Peggi has become a sobriety advocate all over the world. She facilitates a weekly recovery support group and is currently working on the development of a sobriety tool to be released in 2022.

Peggi has been married to Paul for 35 years. Together they have five children and 12 grandchildren. They make their homes in West Sacramento and Lake Almanor, California.

    A Note From Seibo Shen:

Hi, I'm Seibo Shen, I'm an entrepreneur, mindset and business coach and I have been part of six successful exits. While I have spoken at SXSW, ArcView, New West Summit, and been interviewed by publications such as Business Insider and Forbes, I still did not feel content with my accomplishments.

I found out that if you live by society’s standards, you will never feel fulfilled because those weren’t your dreams to begin with. I felt betrayed by society, I did everything I was supposed to do to be happy. I sacrificed my time, my health, and my relationships.

I decided to do a 180 and became ULTRA SPIRITUAL. This provided me with a lot of relief from the mental suffering and pressure that I felt as an entrepreneur but I could also see downsides to always living in the moment and trusting that the universe will take care of you.

This led me to create a framework that would take the best from both worlds. I wanted to combine practical, utilitarian skills with a metaphysical ideology so that you can lead a life of passion and purpose without sacrificing abundance. Now, I want to share this framework with as many people who want to begin prioritizing fulfillment and have self-mastery over their own lives.

The theme of Art & Nature speaks particularly to the identity of Laguna Beach, which for over a hundred years has fostered art, the love of nature, and environmental awareness. In 1929, when the Laguna Beach Art Association built a gallery to show and sell their work, they chose a commanding location on the coastline, close to the natural wonders they loved to paint. The present museum occupies the same site. There could be no more appropriate venue in which to explore the art-nature connection.

Julie Perlin Lee joined Laguna Art Museum as Executive Director in May 2021. Previously she was Executive Director at the Catalina Island Museum, and Vice President of Collections and Exhibition Development at the Bowers Museum.

At Catalina Island Museum from 2016 to 2021, Lee led a period of growth including high-profile exhibitions and educational programs, and the completion of a capital project for the museum’s new permanent facility which opened in 2016. At the Bowers Museum from 2008 to 2016, she procured acquisitions for the museum’s permanent collection, directed research and preservation, organized exhibitions, and contributed to publications. She holds a BA in Art History, MFA in Exhibition Design, and Certificate in Museum Studies from California State University, Fullerton.

How social entrepreneur Drew Weaver is using TikTok to help his black-owned businesses to get funding.

How social entrepreneur Drew Weaver is using TikTok to help his black-owned businesses to get funding.

Background Andrew (Drew) Weaver had over 20 years of experience in the Entertainment Industry as a Broadcast Engineer before venturing out on his own in 2011 to start his first business. By 2016, Drew decided to shift from being a traditional entrepreneur whose major ideology is profit is king and people are a means to an end, to being a Social Entrepreneur whose central ideology is people are king and profit is a means to an end. Shortly thereafter, he began shutting down his business.

Later that year, Drew decided his next business had to focus on social impact and SHOPINV, an app focused on ending poverty was born. Funding this venture via Venture Capitalists who marketed themselves as Social Impact investors proved to be impossible for a Black man in America. Drew was told, to his face, by a VC Owner that his investors would not invest in a Black man trying to end poverty. So, Drew went back to the drawing board and decided to strategically postpone SHOPINV.

It was after George Floyd was murdered and the people took to the streets to protest for days on end that Drew decided to build his third business BLVCK$FUND (pronounced Black Dollar Fund), which would never require funds from VC’s. All his revolutionary system would need to succeed is informed Black people and allies who thoroughly understand and applaud the goal of bridging the wealth gap after 400-plus years.

His ingenious plan incorporates group economics to invest in Black people and their communities. Andrew’s BLVCK$FUND strategy would take less than 10% of the Black population to participate and could yield roughly $650M per year to be solely invested in Black people and their communities throughout the 50 States.

This is a vulnerable retelling of the tragic death of a son and a father's journey to integrate this heart-wrenching loss into his life. Through this relatable story, you will discover universal themes that are relevant to all kinds of grief, not just the loss of a child. Along the way, you will gain insight into what it looks like to learn how to live after a devastating loss and compassionately care for those who are grieving.

Amidst the pain and sorrow of the loss of his son, Ed Lee, is forced to discover what moving forward looks like. He is open and honest about his experience, sharing his struggles and what he found helpful. This is not a story he ever wanted to tell, but knowing how difficult of a journey it has been, he presses past his resistance to talk about these things, hoping it will help others who have experienced similar losses.

He is not writing as an expert who has been trained in grief. He is a father who knows what it feels like to be tossed about by waves of grief and disbelief which follow the death of a child. He understands the frustration of unanswerable questions and the temptation to numb the pain. He also knows how important it is to not take these waves alone, and that there is help to be found.

Ed has experienced what it is like to get up after being knocked down by a crushing wave, and if you have lost someone you love, he hopes this book will help you do the same. If you are a friend of someone who has lost a loved one, he hopes this book will help you understand what they are going through and how you can come alongside them.
