My (New) Life LIVE from Mexico

My (New) Life LIVE from Mexico

Exactly one year ago today I recorded a podcast episode from the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and shared that I was determined to relocate to the country and start my next chapter there. Well, one year later -- here's how I made that happen, and the lessons I've learned along the way!

You'll also notice that I've updated the name of the podcast from Support is Sexy to The Elayne Fluker Show. If you've been a long-time listener since I launched the podcast in 2016: (1) I appreciate you so much and (2) You can expect more of the same great conversations as well as my own life lessons on the show. I believe the name change allows us to be more expansive with the conversations and for me to present leaders, innovators and motivators who will support YOU no matter where you are in personal or professional journey. I hope you'll continue to take this ride with me!

    Onward!

    Episode Summary:

In this episode of Support is Sexy, Elayne Fluker invites Tazin Khan the founder and CEO of Cyber Collective, which empowers people of all kinds of backgrounds to be more critical towards their relationship with the internet by providing them with different resources and tools to remain secure and private online. Tazin talks about how she first got a hint about what cyber security was, how she started to realize that the common behavior of the technology companies was to prioritize growth over ethics, and therefore how she decided she wanted to contribute to her community by educating people of marginalized groups on cyber security while producing revenue.

    Tazin Khan

Tazin Khan is the founder and CEO of Cyber Collective whose main purpose is to educate the public, especially in marginalized communities, about data security and privacy. Within a short few months of launching, the organization hosted 10 creative research sessions with over 1,200 global attendees, released a national petition, became a cohort to the largest privacy coalition in America, and partnered with UCLA's Center for Critical Internet Inquiry. Khan comes from a long line of folx doing social impact work and creatives who use their platforms to create visibility and change: her father was a freedom fighter and her brother is an accomplished musician and artist. It is no wonder then, that her work in the cyber security space is coupled with activism and creativity. In this episode of Support is Sexy, Elayne Fluker invites Amber Aziza, Founder and CEO of AAE Corporation which helps companies adjust to the new normal by transforming their workforce into “engaged, happy, and productive teams”, that are in concordance with the companies’ culture and values. Amber talks about how in the new times, where marginalized groups are becoming more visible, companies have to respond to this change not by bringing a void of support that is merely for the company image, but by making their workforce and company values more inclusive.
