    The Inner Edit

Join me, Christie Rocha, on my mission to debunk the misconceptions and stigmas around mental health and therapy. Let’s normalize working on our mental health and seeking help when needed. We’ve all heard of self-care, self-help, and self-love but do you often wonder how to actually make it all happen? I do! You’ll hear strategy-based conversations with professionals as well as inspiring and validating stories from women who are just like you and me. Think of this podcast as the weekly therapy sessions you didn’t know you needed...with a dash of sass, a lot of vulnerability, and me, relentlessly asking “but how?”

168 Jenn Trepeck: From Yo-Yo Dieting to Empowered Eating: Transformative Health Education for a Happier You

Jenn Trepeck is an Optimal Health Coach, Podcaster, and Business Consultant. Jenn grew up the skinny one in a family of dieters which was awesome(!) until it went away. And so began her weight management saga. Ultimately though, Jenn learned the nutrition education we’re all supposed to know but no one ever taught us. This completely changed her life and allowed her to say she “kicked her food issues.” From then, Jenn set-out on a mission to pay it forward and help people help themselves. After over a decade of working with clients, Jenn started Salad with a Side of Fries podcast. Based on science, yet lighthearted, Jenn talks about living life while still making ourselves and our health a priority.

“The big thing in understanding all of it and relearning or maybe learning for the first time about food and the human body is that it’s all chemical. You are not a failure. Your cravings are chemical. Your willpower is actually chemical. We've been told that we've failed. We haven't failed. Every diet out there, every plan out there has failed us.” - Jenn Trepeck

156 Christie Rocha: The Subconscious Influence: How My Past Shaped My Partnerships

In this final solo show of the month's series on Marriage, Intimacy, and Mental Health, I reflect on the recent episode with Dr. Christie Kederian, discussing matchmaking and relationship advice. I discuss the importance of individual inner work in improving relationships and my personal experiences of questioning, resentment, and eventual empowerment through therapy. I explore the concept of chemistry and the impact of therapy in bringing subconscious dynamics to the surface and how it ultimately influences my relationships.

“In my experience in therapy, whenever my marriage was a topic of discussion, I went from ‘Is it enough for my marriage that I am the only one in therapy?’ to ‘Why am I the one in therapy? Why am I doing all of the work?’ to ‘Holy cow, this is incredible, I get to do all this work on myself and it helps my marriage and this is SO cool.’ From questioning to resentment to empowerment.” - Christie Rocha
