This episode today is all about one of my good friends in the coaching profession that has influenced so many young men as a legendary high school coach on Staten Island. Jim Munson is one of the best in the business and he is currently coaching at Wagner University in New York since retiring from high school coaching in 2020 after a 31-year run.

One more interesting note… Jim has the distinction of building the Tottenville Pirate football program into a perennial PSAL playoff team. He posted a 178-88-3 record at Tottenville. Additionally, his Tottenville teams have made two title game appearances at Yankee Stadium. The number of NFL players he has developed is staggering.

This episode today is all about one man’s journey from playing high school ball in Pennsylvania to becoming an All-American in college which led to a lengthy career in the NFL playing for some legendary coaches that influenced his coaching career.

My guest today on this football conversation is Coach Greg Manusky. Greg played ball at Dallas High School then at Colgate University before embarking on a 12-year career in the NFL playing for Joe Gibbs, Denny Green, and Marty Schottenheimer.

Greg’s coaching career began as a linebacker coach with the Washington Redskins and he became a successful DC at San Francisco, San Diego, Indianapolis as well as Washington. Currently, he is working with Brad White at the University of Kentucky in a quality control role with the vaunted Kentucky Wildcat Defense.

One more interesting note… Greg has the distinction of being named on the 2001 All-Madden team and I am sure you will see why in this episode.

This episode today is all about one man’s journey to create a football coaching life on his terms.

My guest today on this football conversation is Coach Adam Rita. Coach Rita is a true world traveler who left the state of Hawaii to play college football and has wound up coaching in college and the professional ranks of the CFL. A noted offensive strategist he’s also had the distinction of being a 4-time Grey Cup champion as a coach as well as winning the prestigious Grey Cup two more times as an executive in the Canadian Football League.  

Adam retired from the CFL in 2010 and has traveled the world coaching football in Europe since that time. I’m sure you will enjoy listening to Coach Rita’s journey which spans 5 decades of success on the gridiron and includes some outstanding relationships with players and coaches along the way.

My guest today on this football conversation is Stan Bedwell who’s one of the premier disciples of Hal Mumme’s creation – The Air Raid Offense. My first recollection of meeting Stan was when he was Co-Offensive Coordinator at Manchester University during our game in Defiance, Ohio.

Stan has lived the life of a Football Troubadour singing the virtues of the Air Raid on an International stage. He is also known for his karaoke performances. Stan has played overseas for many years and his playing career in Europe has given him the opportunity to explore some beautiful cities and interesting regions of the world.

As he straddles his chosen vagabond lifestyle as a football coach and mentor of coaches in the Air Raid he stays uniquely grounded in his lifestyle.

My guest today on this football conversation is Mitch Singler. When I first got into college coaching at Kansas State as a GA in 1988, I lived with two guys: Dave Flegal and Bill Singler. Little did I know, that 34 years later the son of Coach Bill Singler would be on my show as one of the rising stars in this coaching profession.

Mitch has risen through the coaching ranks after playing receiver at Oregon State University. He went on to work at his alma mater for Mike Riley and Gary Anderson until taking a leap of faith with his wife, Janae to join the staff at Duke University with David Cutcliffe.

After much success at Duke. Coach Cutcliffe retired and his staff was left to find their own paths navigating the coaching carousel. In this episode, Mitch shares with us the trials and tribulations of his coaching journey as well as what has influenced him in the profession.

My guest today on this Football Conversation is the Special Teams Analyst of the Kentucky Wildcats, Coach Louie Matsakis. Louie has had a successful career focusing on the third of the game that is responsible for the most explosive plays in every football game.

Today's guest on this Analysis & Application episode is Greg LaFleur. Greg is the pride of Ville Platte, Louisiana. He was a star player at LSU that went on to a 6 year NFL career playing Tight End for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts. His career after playing was in Athletic Administration as an Assistant AD at LSU to also becoming the AD at Texas State University, Houston-Tillison, Chicago State University, and Southern University in Baton Rouge.

Greg has also served as the national spokesperson for the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education.
