    NDP025: Nathan Voxland on Liquibase

    NDP025: Nathan Voxland on Liquibase

Nathan Voxland joins for a discussion of Liquibase (which is like version control for your database). Denis Rosa also joins as a guest host.

Some notes from the show supplied by Nathan and Denis:

    NDP024: Brant Burnett on Linq

    NDP024: Brant Burnett on Linq

Brant Burnett joins for a discussion of Linq and Linq providers for databases. Jeff Morris also joins as a guest host.

Some notes from the show supplied by Brant and Jeff:

    NDP023: Max Neunhoeffer on ArangoDb

    NDP023: Max Neunhoeffer on ArangoDb

In this episode, Matt Groves takes over hosting duties. Max Neunhoeffer joins for a discussion of ArangoDb. Nic Raboy is also a special transitional guest host.

Max Neunhöffer is a mathematician turned database developer. In his academic career he has worked for 16 years on the development and implementation of new algorithms in computer algebra. During this time he has juggled a lot with mathematical big data like group orbits containing trillions of points. Recently he has returned from St. Andrews to Germany, has shifted his focus to NoSQL databases, and now helps to develop ArangoDB.

Some notes from the show supplied by Max:

    NDP019: Mobile Development with Realm

    NDP019: Mobile Development with Realm

In this episode I'm joined by Eric Maxwell and my colleague, Priya Rajagopal, where we discuss the very popular mobile database, Realm. Eric is a Developer Advocate at Realm and we discuss everything from how data is stored, to how you use and query Realm in modern applications.

    NDP017: Marten for .NET Developers

    NDP017: Marten for .NET Developers

In this episode I am joined by Jeremy Miller, the author of the database wrapper Marten, and co-host Matt Groves, where we talk about Marten and how it fits with .NET development.

If you're not familiar, Marten is a document database wrapper for PostgreSQL, which makes it a lot easier for .NET developers to use NoSQL.

NDP016: The MEAN Stack for Application Development

NDP016: The MEAN Stack for Application Development

In this episode I'm joined by Jonathan Casarrubias, owner of the website mean.expert, where we discuss the MongoDB, Express Framework, Angular, and Node (MEAN) development stack.

The MEAN stack is a very popular development stack, not only because it is quick, but because development is very easy.  After all, each technology in the stack has some JavaScript background.

Learn about how to get started and why its more convenient than RDBMS alternative stacks.

NDP014: NoSQL on Mobile with Couchbase Mobile

NDP014: NoSQL on Mobile with Couchbase Mobile

In this episode I am joined by Wayne Carter, Chief Architect on Couchbase Mobile at Couchbase, where we explore NoSQL on Android, iOS, Internet of Things (IoT), and desktop devices.

Couchbase Mobile is composed of three components, Couchbase Lite, Couchbase Sync Gateway, and Couchbase Server, which all work together towards a fast and reliable cross platform NoSQL solution.

Learn about popular NoSQL use-cases and how it compares to SQLite and other NoSQL solutions in this episode.

NDP013: Docker with Distributed NoSQL Databases

NDP013: Docker with Distributed NoSQL Databases

In this episode I'm joined by Docker Champion and NoSQL advocate, Arun Gupta where we discuss containers and the relevance and usefulness of them with NoSQL distributed databases.

Learn about some of the differences between containers and virtual machines as well as some of the orchestration frameworks available.  You'll walk away with solid information on why you should give Docker and NoSQL a chance within your organization.

NDP012: Firebase Instead of SQLite in Mobile Applications

NDP012: Firebase Instead of SQLite in Mobile Applications

In this episode I'm joined by Chris Esplin, Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Firebase, where we talk about the Back-end as a Service (BaaS) platform Firebase as an alternative option to SQLite in mobile applications.

Firebase can be considered a NoSQL solution because of the way it stores data in a flexible manner.  We discuss some of the things it can do and where it offers value as a database solution for mobile.

    NDP011: Data for Mobile Developers

    NDP011: Data for Mobile Developers

In this episode I'm joined by Cesare Rocchi, a mobile developer and popular author for Ray Wenderlich, where we discuss data in mobile applications.

Pretty much every mobile application has a dependency of working with or storing data and we explore some of the available technologies and how developers are using them to get the job done.

NDP008: Oracle NoSQL and How it Integrates with RDBMS

NDP008: Oracle NoSQL and How it Integrates with RDBMS

In this episode I am joined by Ashok Joshi from Oracle where we discuss Oracle' NoSQL database platform.

Oracle's relational database platform is huge and there are many users, but many are unfamiliar with Oracle's NoSQL offerings.  Based on BerkeleyDB, Oracle's NoSQL database is a scalable solution that pairs nicely with its relational database platform.

We discuss things ranging from querying with Oracle NoSQL to how you can get the RDBMS to retrieve data from it.
