    Check out Episode 22 of The POG Show podcast with guest, Mick Neals, the city’s Solid Waste Manager (and the sound engineer for The POG Show podcast) where we talk everything you need to know about recycling and solid waste.  

    To pick up a recycle bin, the location is the city’s Public Works department at 407 Virginia Ave. in Port Orange (residents are allowed to pick up 3 recycle bins). Residents are allowed 3 trash bins and all trash needs to be inside a garbage can. 

    To arrange a pick up for a large pile of yard waste or getting rid of furniture or big appliances, please call the Public Works customer service line at (386) 506-5575.

    Episode 21 is a very special episode of The POG Show, where we would like to dedicate it to Dwight Gault, a Volunteer in Police Services (VIPS) who unexpectedly passed away on May 9. Dwight was a volunteer for the past 7 years and prior to volunteering, Dwight served 22 years in the Army National Guard, and later retiring as a Major. Dwight is survived by his wife of 55 years, along with their daughter. Dwight was always smiling, and willing to lend a helping hand. Dwight enjoyed NASCAR, college football, and attending Port Orange City Council Meetings.   

    Episode 21 focuses on the Port Orange VIPS program, which stands for Volunteer in Police Services, where we talk with Major Pat LaMountain and Lt. Mary Wittmeyer.  They each provide a little background about themselves, details about the VIPS program, what to do to become a VIP and more!
