The Radkast

This week, we're back at it with another entry in March-ial Arts Month! Mr. Miyagi is back to impart his wisdom on another troubled teen, only this time, it's a girl named Julie. After the death of her parents, Julie has been nothing but rebellious towards her Grandma, and has continuously been in trouble at school, even landing on the radar of the school's paramilitary watchdog group, and their psycho leaders. Julie's only solace is the time she spends with an injured hawk she found on school grounds, and secretly keeps on the roof of the school. After Mr. Miyagi intervenes in Julie's life, the once resistant Julie lets her guard down, and heads Miyagi's wisdom and learns how to cope with her anger, find inner peace, and pull out inner strength. She also starts smoochin' on a boy, and has a showdown with a dime-store version of Ben Stiller at the docks. It's the Next Karate Kid, this week on the Radkast!

This week, we KICK off this year's March-ial Arts Month! Dolph Lundgren is a California cop who had been raised in Japan. The half Chinese half white playing half Japanese half white Brandon Lee, is his new partner. The two are on the case of Yoshida, a dangerous criminal now running drugs through a brewery in Little Tokyo. The first time the police team find themselves in front of Yoshida, Dolph Lundgren notices the tattoo on the kingpin's chest, and his memory is triggered to when Yoshida killed Dolph's parents. Now a mission to put Yoshida behind bars, becomes a mission for revenge. Blood, boobs, and bullets abound, plus a few one liners thrown in for good measure! It's Showdown in Little Tokyo, this week on the Radkast!

This week on the show, it's another look at a year from the 80's! On the latest edition of this Decade Retrospective, Steven flies solo and talks the year Rambo drew first blood, The Hoff started teaming with a talk car, and Michael Jackson was about to shake the foundations of music! All those things, plus more of the notable events of the world, Music, Movie, Television and Sports that happened in 1982, this week on the Radkast!

This week, we continue in our latest decade retrospective, and discuss another year in the 1980's! Our Mom is back to help us talk about an album that made a star out of one of her favorite artists, the magic of Raiders of the Lost Ark, and what seemed to be the season for assassination attempts. All those things, plus so much more from the Movies, Music, TV, Sports, and World Events that happened in the year 1981, this week on the Radkast!

Finally! After an unplanned absence for the last month, the Radkast is back on the air! This week, we christen a new laptop and hit the ground running with another edition of the Six Mix. We were in Decatur for this session to help our dear dear friend Jeff Wright celebrate his own personal milestone, and it just so happened, we had another few milestones to commerate with him! So we talked about his not-so-law abiding driving experiences, the closest we'll get to a true D&D video game, and the three of us look back lovingly at the history of our friendship. All those things, plus, Jeff makes an exciting announcement about the future of Radkast merch, this week on the Radkast!

This week on the show, the Decade Retrospective is back! We've gone through both the 90's and 2000's, and now it's time for us to talk that all important decade, the 1980's! Although we have great love and affection for this time in history, we barely missed it by only a few years. So because of that, we called on our Mom to get her memories and first hand accounts of the first year of what would become a decade of decadence! That's not all! Not only is our Mom here to discuss Movies, Music, World Events, and everything 1980, we're also celebrating her well earned induction into the Radkast 5-Timers club! So get in your time machines (pre-Delorian), and head back to the year 1980 with us, this week on the Radkast!

This week on the show, we ring in the new year by celebrating a very special guest! 2024 kicks off with a Six Mix where we welcome Dave Little back to the show for his fifth appearance, thus earning his spot into the Radkast 5-Timers Club! Dave takes on the questions and we gush over our experiences as St. Louis Mills Mall, Matt tells us of the Greek Milky Way myth, and we talk the transcendent relatability of the late 80's/Early 90's period sitcom, The Wonder Years. All those things, and so much more, this week on the Radkast!

This week, we cap off 2023 with our new favorite series, The Six Mix! On this edition, long time friend and first time guest Nik Sargent joins us to talk about a holiday called Dyngus Day, a film whose conclusion involved a murderous bus, and we talk how our nostalgia can center us. All those things and so much more, this week on the final Radkast of 2023!

This week, we re-visit a subject we dedicated a whole month to in May! We dip back in to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and a Christmas Special made to showcase everyone's favorite manic side character, Alpha 5! The Rangers are out helping Santa, and Alpha feels alone on Christmas. So Zordon lifts Alpha's spirits by kidnapping over a dozen children, transporting them to the Command Center, and encouraging them to sing Christmas Carols with Alpha! We also discuss what aliens think of Jesus, we ask where exactly do the children go after leaving the Comman Center, and Dr. Phil makes a surprise guest appearance in this straight-to-video special that proved that not all MMPR media was a hit. All that, plus Jesco and Chauncey get desperate in their last ditch effort to prove the existence of Santa Clause! Our Sister Samantha Kennedy is back to help us riff Alpha's Magical Christmas, this week on the Radkast!

This week for our holiday entry, we do something a little different! On this episode, we discuss and disect one of our favortie episodes from a show that has had a lot of influence on us over the years, the Simpsons! In the show's Season 7 Christmas offering, Bart is lured in by that holiday season's latest violent video game, Bonestorm. After Marge opposes purchasing the game for her son, against his better judgement, Bart decides to steal it from the local Try N' Save. After being caught, then later owning up to his thievery, Bart must deal with the consequences of his actions, and find out what it takes to rectify them. Morality play aside, the episode is packed with well crafted verbal and visual jokes that have kept us rolling for years! It's the The Simpsons: Marge Be Not Proud, this week on the Radkast!

This week, we continue celebrating Christmas by talking a lesser known holiday classic! The lovable hayseed Ernest P. Worrell is back to his goofball ways, and this time, they involve a teenage runaway, a reluctant children's show host, and father Christmas himself! Hijinks ensues, and we wouldn't have it anyother way, knowwhutImean? All that, plus Jesco and Chauncy continue their own mission to try and prove the existence of Kris Kringle! It's Ernest Saves Christmas, this week on the Radkast!

This week, it's a special Christmas edition of the Six Mix! Our Mom returns to the show and talks about what Christmas was like out in the country, some of her favorite Christmas memories, and just how important family is, especially during the Holidays! We cover all those things, and so much more! Plus, Jesco and Chauncy are back, and they're on a special mission. We start the holiday season off right, this week on the Radkast!

He talks an unlikely Disney favorite, the enduring importance of the music we grew up with, and the three of us realize that wearing Vans appearal is a huge contributor to our imposter syndrome! This week, we close out Five Weeks of Fright 2023 with our favorite of the Friday films! Tommy Jarvis is back, older, wiser, and determined to send Jason to Hell, once and for all. However, when his plan to cremate Jason's corpse goes south, Tommy ends up accidentally resurrecting the monster instead! Now on a mission to warn anyone who'll listen about Jason's impending arrival, Tommy encounters a combative sheriff, his thrill-seeking daughter, and a town looking to escape it's past. All the while, per the usual Jason sets out on a rampage and leaves a trail of bodies in his wake. All of this, plus Jesco and Chauncey are joined by a familiar face! This time around, we put a Halloween spin on the series and talk favorite movies to watch during this time of year, our affinity for the coziness of the season, and the years spent at a town ghost walk...conducted by a church. A family of three with a precocious young boy, another group of young adults, and a wanderer on a mission are all minding their own business, when all of a sudden they're being preyed upon by a butchering brute. On this edition, the visual of a horror icon is born, and a new group of victims find themselves in close enough range to Crystal Lake to become the next targets of Jason's fury. A day after the slayings depicted in Part 2, a clueless brood of 20 somethings are looking to spend a care-free weekend shacked up in the same woods people died just 24 hours before. However, their plans get shaken up when they have to deal with a problematic prankster, a vengeful trio of bikers, and a butchering brute stalking their every move, all in glorious 3D! We talk all those events, plus Jesco and Chauncy are back with another haunting tale of hillbilly horror! It's Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D, this week on the Radkast!

This week, it's the start of our favorite time of year, and the return of Five Weeks of Fright! In the first entry into this year's festivities, it's a sequel many thought shouldn't have been made. Despite push back, it was produced and provided the introduction of a horror icon! Five years after the events of the first film, a counselor training facility opens up across from the defunct Camp Crystal Lake. A group of prospective counselors, including resident wise ass Ginny, and the camp owner Paul live it up at the facility before having to get down to work. However, their good time comes to a screeching halt when the town legend Jason Voorhees appears to the group in the flesh. A horny couple kabab, an invalid with a machete to the face, and another classic jump scare, this film packs a punch! All of this, plus two old friends join us for a new chapter in FWOF history! It's Friday the 13th Part 2, this week on the Radkast!
