    S5 E10: Pride & Prejudice

    Pride and Prejudice (2005), we did the 2005 romantic drama film Directed by Joe Wright. Joe also directed Hanna, Peter Pan, Darkest Hour, Atonement. This is based of the 1813 Jane Austen novel of the same name. Pride and Prejudice is the story of Elizabeth Bennet, played by Kiera Knightly. Elizabeth lives with her 4 sisters at a rural English estate. Her sisters consist of, Jane played by Rosamund Pike, Lydia played by Jena Malone, Kitty played by Carey Mulligan, and Mary played by Talulah Riley. Her father is Mr Bennet played by Donald Sutherland and her mother Mrs Bennet is played by Brenda Blethlyn. These girls are all single and all pining for their chance at love. This comes to a head as the eligible bachelor Mr Bingley played by Simon Woods arrives in town at a ball along with his relative and another eligible bachelor Mr Darcy played by Matthew Macfadyen and his sister Caroline Bingley played by Kelly Reilly. This launches a runaway train of love, loss, heartbreak, heartache… and the story of… Pride and Prejudice.

    Cross Roads is a 2002 Teen Road Comedy Drama Romance… it’s a lot of things, directed by Tamra Davis with screenplay by Shona Rhimes. Crossroads is the story of Lucy, played by Britney Spears, Mimi played by Taryn Manning and Kit played by Zoe Saldana. Lucy, Mimi and Kit were childhood best friends but grew apart as they entered highschool. Now as seniors, Mimi pulls the trio back together to recover a wish box from their childhood… they all agree to join Mimi on a trip to Los Angeles. Mimi is traveling to LA for a singing audition, she also happens to be 5 months pregnant, Kit is going to see her boyfriend at UCLA and Lucy is looking for her estranged mother in Arizona along the way. They also get a very helpful ride from a Ben Kimble played by Anson Mount, that is your lead in for Crossroads.

    S5 E8: Players

    Players is a 2024 Romantic Comedy directed by Trish Sie, Trish is best known for directing Step Up: All In and Pitch Perfect 3. This is the story of Mackenzie, Mack, played by Gina Rodriguez. Mack is a New York City sports beat writer, her real calling card is that her and her friends have elaborate, and strange ways they scheme to hook up with people. Co-Worker Adam played by Daman Wayans JR, other co-worker Brannagan played by Augustus Prew and HIS younger brother Little played by Joel Courtney make up the group. This group and Mack are thrown into Flux however when Pulitzer Prize nominated author Nick played by Tom Ellis arrives at their office and Mack is IMMEDIATELY enthralled… and NEEDs to be with him… thus, they come up with another elaborate scheme, a ‘play’ for Mack to nab Nick.

    S5 E7: Two Weeks Notice

    Two Weeks Notice is a 2002 Romantic Comedy directed by the Marc Lawrence who is also known for Miss Congeniality, Did You Hear About The Morgans, Noelle . This is the story of Lucy Kelson played by Sandra Bullock. Lucy is a lawyer in New York City who has a strong moral compass regarding environmental law, historic preservation and pro bono causes. George Wade is played by Hugh Grant and he is your billionaire real estate developer, charming womanizing playboy and his business is in an ongoing clash with Lucy over the destruction of the Coney Island Community Center. George Wade however is in need of a Chief Counsel and finds that Lucy, along with being an extremely talented lawyer is fantastic at making decisions for him. George hires Lucy under the pretense that he will fund her charity initiatives AND save the Coney Island Community Center… obviously when two beautiful people are that charming and always around each other… sparks… will… fly…

    Just Wright is a 2010 Sports Romantic Comedy directed by Sanaa Hamri. This is the story of Leslie Wright played by Queen Latifah. Leslie is a New Jersey Nets SUPER FAN and she attends a lot of their games with her best friend Morgan played by Paula Patton. Morgan has dreams and aspirations of dating an NBA player, that is her full focus… trying to get into parties with players, meet players, see the players, well it turns out Leslie meets the star player of the Nets Scott McKnight played by Common at a gas station and he invites her to his birthday party. Leslie brings Morgan in tow and that is more or less our lead in for Just Wright.

    S5 E4: Fool's Gold

    Fools Gold is a 2008 Romantic Action Comedy directed by the great Andy Tennant. It actually reunited the trio of Andy Tennant, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Fool’s Gold is the story of Finn played by McConaughey. Fin is a very unsuccessful treasure hunter, he is searching for the Spanish galleon the Aurelia which is supposed to have sunk near an island close to Key West. Fin ends up getting into trouble with a creditor Bigg Bunny played by Kevin Hart but Fin ultimately finds help in the form of his ex wife Tess played by Kate Hudson, who was the original person who discovered the general whereabouts of this lost treasure with him. Finn, Tess, Tess’s boss Nigel played by Donald Sutherland, and his daughter Gemma played by Alexis Dziena embark on this grand adventure to find the treasure.

    Love At First Sight is a 2023 Netflix Romantic Comedy film directed by Vanessa Caswill based on the 2011 novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. This is the story of Hadley Sullivan played by Haley Lu Richardson. Hadley never has a charged phone  and is chronically late, evidenced by the fact that when we meet her, she is in the process of missing her flight to London to attend her father’s wedding. This is also the story of Oliver Jones played by Ben Hardy, Oliver is a British Yale student who is obsessed with statistics, hates surprises and typically keeps a very charged phone… this is how our love interests meet, at an airport, exchanging phone charges on the way to London.

    S5 E2: The Princess Diaries

    The Princess Diaries is a 2001 coming of age Romantic Comedy directed by Garry Marshall. This is the story of Mia Thermopolis played by Anne Hathaway. Mia is a highschool student in San Francisco, definitely not super cool she only has two friends Lilly played by Heather Matarazzo and her older brother Michael played by Robert Schwartzman. There is something Mia does not know however and we learn very quickly, technically she is the princess of the country of Genovia. This film also features Mandy Moore as the classic highschool villain Lana. Mia has a grandmother the Queen Regent of Genovia played by the great Julie Andrews. And a point of fact regarding how big of a smash hit this film was. This grossed 165 million dollars at the box office on a budget of around 26.

    S4 E46: Home Alone

    Home Alone is a 1990 Christmas Comedy directed by Chris Columbus and written and produced by the great John Hughes. This is the story of Kevin McCalister played by Macaulay Culkin. Kevin is the youngest son of the McCalister family, we meet Kevin during a wildly chaotic time when his and his uncles family are prepping for a trip to Paris the following day. After an outburst by Kevin he is sent to the attic to sleep the night, but the following morning both families forget about Kevin as they travel to the airport and they leave Kevin at home as the travel to Paris… hence… Kevin McCalister IS, Home Alone… this story also stars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the Wet Bandits. Catherine O’Hara and John Heard are Kevin’s Parents. There is a massive full cast that we will get to but first.

    S4 E45: Family Switch

    Family Switch is a 2023 Netflix Family Comedy directed by McG. He is also responsible for This Means War and The Babysitter. Family Switch is the story of Jess and Bill Walker, played by Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. The Walker family is a little bit out of sorts, they have three children, MAINLY CeeCee and Wyatt played by Emma Meyers and Brady Noon, both in high school. They have a third child who is just a baby, that is Miles. They are just a family that feels very disconnected and isolated from each other, they all have their own priorities that in their own minds supersedes everyone else in the family and all of this comes to a head after a Christmas excursion to Griffith Observatory, when during a rare planetary alignment event, while the whole family is bickering how everyone else lives are SO EASY… we end up with a body swap story. Jess and CeeCee wake up in each others bodies. Bill and Wyatt end up in each others… the baby Miles swaps with the dog Pickles. This is your lead in for Family Switch.

    While You Were Sleeping is a 1995 Romantic Comedy directed by Jon Turteltaub. This is the story of Lucy Moderatz played by Sandra Bullock. Lucy is a very lonely train fair token collector in Chicago. She daydreams of a more exciting life and secretly loves Peter Callaghan, a handsome commuter played by Peter Gallagher, whom she has never actually spoken to. On Christmas day Peter falls onto the train tracks and Lucy rescues him, and after a wild miscommunication at the hospital Peter’s family believes that Lucy is his fiance… all this occurring, while Peter is in a coma. Also want to mention Jack played by Bill Pullman as Peter’s brother.

    Ex Mas is a BRAND NEW HOLIDAY ROM COM. This is the story of Graham played by Robbie Amell. Graham is a video game programmer workaholic who has seemingly recently been broken up with, by his fiance Ali played by Leighton Meester. Graham is not coping well, he is swamped at work, and after first believing he will not be able to make it home to Minnesota for the Holidays, on a spur of the moment, he decides to still make the trip. The only problem is, his family, when realizing he wouldn’t be home for the Holidays, decided to invite his ex Ali to Christmas. That is your lead in for Ex Mas.

    S4 E42: The Other Zoey

    The Other Zoe is a 2023 Romantic Comedy on Amazon Prime, directed by Sarah Zandieh. This is the story of Zoe Miller played by Josephine Langford. Zoey is a computer major junior at Queen’s College… she is extremely intelligent in the field of programming and is trying to launch her dating app that specializes on matching people based on algorithms and shared interests and compatibility. Zoey however ends up in a classic, mistaken identity, amnesia love triangle with star soccer stud Zach McLaren played by Drew Starkey. Zach believes that he is dating this Zoey… because of a strange accident, instead there is another Zoey out there on vacation who he is actually dating… hence, the other Zoey. Shoutout to Miles who is our other love interest played by Archie Renaux.

    S4 E41: 17 Again

    17 Again is a 2009 American teen fantasy romantic comedy film directed by Burr Steers.

    This is the story of Mike O Donnell played by Matthew Perry and Zac Efron… this is a CLASSIC body swap movie… time swap movie… 

    Mike O Donnell (Zac Efron)  was the high school all star basketball jock, he had aspirations of playing college basketball until his girlfriend Scarlet became pregnant. That occurred back in 1989, now in present day Mike O’Donnell (Matthew Perry) is struggling with his career, cannot connect with his kids Alex played by Sterling Knight or Maggie played by Michelle Trachtenberg, and he has a failing marriage with Scarlet played by Leslie Mann. All of this comes to a head as Mike finds himself back at his old high school and after meeting a sage janitor his body is swapped back to his high school self (Zac Efron) so he can relive his high school days alongside his actual children who attend the same school.

    This film grossed 139 million dollars on a 40 million dollar budget.

    You Again is a 2010 romantic comedy directed by Andy Fickman. This is the story of Marni Olsen played by Kristen Bell. Marni was tormented and bullied in highschool however at the time of our film is now a successful public relations executive in Los Angeles and was just promoted to a management job in New York. However, Marni returns back to her small town of Ridgefield to celebrate her brother, Will, played by James Wolk, wedding. As it turns out, Will is marrying Marni’s highschool bull Joanna or JJ played by Odette Yustman. The awkwardness is amped up when JJ’s aunt Ramona visits, played by Sigourney Weaver and SHE also has bad history with Marni’s mom Gail played by Jamie Lee Curtis… two generations of women… hating each other.

    Twilight is a 2008 Romantic Fantasy directed by Catherine Hardwicke… it’s based off the 2005 Stephenie Meyer Novel. This is the story of Bella Swan played by Kristen Stewart. Bella leaves her home of Phoenix, Arizona for a small town called Forks in Washington State. In Forks Bella lives with her father, the police Chief Charlie Swan. She meets Jacob Black played by Taylor Lautner, his family are close friends with Charlie. As Bella goes to school we meet a number of her classmates including Jessica played by Anna Kendrick. We also meet The Cullen’s. They are a group of kids adopted by Carlisle Cullen the town physician. Carlisle is played by Peter Facinelli, Esme Cullen played by Elizabeth Reaser… and their adopted children. Alice played by Ashley Greene, Jasper played by Jackson Rathbone, Rasalie played by Nikki Reed, Emmett played by Kellan Lutz and finally Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson… it is in Edward that Bella discovers something strange and unusual about the Cullen’s. It’s also where Bella possibly finds love?
