In 1984, Cooper, then 28, shared a Pulitzer Prize for special local reporting for “The Race Factor,” a Boston Globe series that examined institutional racism in Boston. For decades, he was the youngest African American to win a Pulitzer for journalism. He is coauthor with photographer Don West of “Portraits of Purpose: A Tribute to Leadership.”

    Lindsay Cross is a candidate for the Florida State House District 68. She is running as a Democrat in St. Petersburg where she has resided, worked, and taught for 20 years. Her priorities are jobs, education, and the environment with a focus on the importance of safe and clean water to preserve Florida’s critical tourism industry and way of life. Lindsay is the daughter of public-school educators which has fueled her priority to ensure that all Floridians can succeed. An honors graduate of Colorado State University, Lindsay earned a Bachelor’s in Environmental Health and a minor in Spanish which enabled her to study abroad in Latin America and Europe. Lindsay volunteers her time for numerous communities and loves exploring Florida’s wild places with her rescue dog, Cooper.
