    Lead On Purpose pt2

Our special guest this week is Coach Lisa Petitte. Coach Petitte, has served as an educator in Chicago Public Schools as well as in Arkansas Public Schools as a teacher and coach. Along her coaching pathway, she's also coached collegiate basketball at division I & II levels as well as reaching the WNBA with her coaching and leadership talents. Coach Petitte's superpower is her ability to form relationships with her students and players that enable her to impact their hearts & lives as people as well as deliver the game of basketball to their minds. At the root of this ability is the skill of being intentional. As we seek to help you define what that looks like, take into consideration the awareness and sincerity you bring to every relationship you form with the people you lead. And keep it at the forefront of your thought processes that everything you do and say matters. The Tribe has also developed a collaborative course titled, The Captain's Course. The art of being intentional is an overarching fundamental to the course that will help you and your growing leaders create deeper connections, establish the needs of your people and how you can support that, and create a culture of servanthood. If you'd like more information about the course email us at tribehasspokenchief23@gmail.com.

2-19-2023 Leadership Minute: Are You Developing Water-Carrier Leaders?

Have you established a culture of selflessness? If so then your leadership development is built upon being a "water-carrier" leader. But superficial acts aren't enough. Picking up what your people can't carry must be done not just in a literal sense, but also their emotional & psychological burdens. Lean in, listen in, focus in, and then reach in to help them. A "water-carrier" is ALL IN for their teammates.

Episode 2 Part 1: The Yin and Yang of Emerging Leadership

Episode 2 Part 1: The Yin and Yang of Emerging Leadership

As a leader are you PROGRESSING or SUPPRESSING the leadership of your people? In Episode 2 Part 1 CPT Thompson and I discuss the two sides of how emerging leaders are recognized. On one hand how selfish and fearful "leaders" in higher positions suppress ideas and progressive vision, and on the other, humble and effective leaders that seek to recognize, acknowledge, and empower up-and-coming leaders in their organization. Welcome to The Tribe Has Spoken. Our mission is to help leaders grow and develop as people so that they can help develop the leaders of tomorrow.

The Tribe Has Spoken: Leadership Minute - How Do You Deal With Distractions?

Are you or your people distracted and your productivity is suffering? How do you deal with your own distractions? How do you approach someone that seems distracted or troubled? All distractions are subjective and require you to demonstrate understanding and empathy while also holding yourself and your people accountable to the cultural standards and expectations BUT how you guide back to that path is VITAL! As you gear up for the week keep your eyes, ears, and HEART open so you can look for and support yourself and your people when they're distracted.

Episode 1 Part 5: Becoming A Mental Monster- An Absolute Beast of A Leader

Episode 1 Part 5: Becoming A Mental Monster- An Absolute Beast of A Leader

In this final part of episode 1 CPT Thompson and I discuss how respect is intertwined with every aspect and person associated with your leadership.  Most are familiar with the ideology of transactional leadership vs transformational leadership, as well as the reasoning to choose to develop the people you lead. But, what CPT Alan and I question is, "What are we really transforming?" The evidence of transformational leadership can be observed by changes in behavior. What we propose is to adopt a new ideology. I'm currently writing about this philosophy as well as methods in which to develop people in my book I'll release later this year. This is my favorite cast we've done so far because of my passion for the topic at hand which is respect. Respect in leadership is so intertwined and connected to not just the people we directly impact, but also the people they haven't led or loved yet. We must also respect those people in our interactions and influence. Welcome to the Tribe.

Leadership Minute 2-5-23: Are You Afraid of Vulnerability?

Leadership Minute 2-5-23: Are You Afraid of Vulnerability?

As you gear up for another week of leadership, make sure to include vulnerability in your toolbox. The people you lead need your honesty & integrity & you need to be able to self-reflect in order to model growth for them. So, answer the question honestly, reflect, then this week use opportunities that arise to show your people how to manage self-accountability. You'll find that their accountability will also grow as a result of your openness.

Episode 1 Part 4: Becoming A Mental Monster- An Absolute Beast of A Leader

Episode 1 Part 4: Becoming A Mental Monster- An Absolute Beast of A Leader

In episode 3 CPT Thompson and I thoroughly discussed Commitment as a necessary component of being a Beast of A Leader. But even if a leader is committed to their organization can they deliver on the promise of growing and leading their people if they lack integrity? Does the lack of integrity in a leader result in the absence of respect? If respect isn't earned then why do people still listen to their leader and allow themselves to be influenced and affected? It could be because the culture is based on fear rather than respect. While a fear-based culture can get initial results, a strong leader, if truly committed, is playing the long game. In part 4 of episode 1 we're going to initiate the conversation on respect and how integrity is the keystone of respect.

Welcome to The Tribe Has Spoken Podcast. Our mission is to help leaders grow today so that they can build the person and leader within their people for tomorrow. With over 20 years of coaching and leading experience US Army CPT Alan Thompson and veteran Coach Kerry Castillo discuss what makes a good leader as well as action steps to build your leadership skills immediately. If you have a desire for yourself and your people to grow into stronger leaders then you've found the right tribe! In episode 1 part 3 of Becoming A Mental Monster - An Absolute Beast of A Leader, CPT Thompson and I established Commitment as our second vital component of leadership. The most integral aspect of this however is the connection between belief and commitment. You must wholeheartedly believe in your people, program/organization, and the vision you have for it/them and then commit your path to see that vision through to fruition.
