    The Way To Go

Welcome to The Way To Go. We’re hosting this podcast in the midst of the greatest collective crises the world has encountered in the last 75 years. Behind these extraordinary challenges there is a bigger story to be told. Steven Ross and Matthew Choate are two friends who have found ourselves in the unusual position of observing many stories from the life-journeys of others and we use the lens of these experiences to grapple with real world issues - exploring the spiritual perspectives around these topics and providing intuitive insight. We connect the dots between the chaos of the outer world and reveal the hidden natural laws which always point us towards evolution and healing. Life and the soul have a natural way to go and we aim to find it together. We hope you enjoy!

Surviving Suffering & The Gifts of Compassion

Surviving Suffering & The Gifts of Compassion

Why do we suffer?  Is one of the big questions we all end up asking ourselves at some stage in our lives. Often when the weight of what we, or a loved one, are bearing can feel all consuming and near impossible to carry any further. How do we continue, and what, if anything, can we do to support ourselves and each other as we walk the more difficult paths on the journey of life?

In this episode of The Way To Go, we look at suffering from a variety of angles and try to tease out the valuable yet subtle lessons that can be the great rewards of traveling these more difficult paths. We also share resources, insights, and stories that can benefit those moving through or supporting others in their suffering. We also end the episode with a wonderful intuitive meditation practice led by Steven Ross!

    We hope you enjoy.

Notes: Matthew would like to correct a quote he misattributed to Orson Welles, which  actually came from William S. Burroughs:
"This is a war universe. War all the time. That is its nature. There may be other universes based on all sorts of other principles, but ours seems to be based on war and games."

    Our Inner Compass

    Our Inner Compass

In this episode of The Way To Go we explore the concept of the intuitive inner compass. A guiding force accessible to all human beings, that can assist us in finding our direction even when we feel tossed about in the storms of life.

The inner compass is a term we are using to describe a conscious force that can support us in living our lives in an aligned way with our purpose, calling, and dreams. In this conversation we discuss the intuitive nature of the compass, how it functions and manifests in our lives, and suggestions on how to engage with this compassionate force to help impact our lived experience. Steven ends this episode with a guided meditation practice to support the development of your personal way finder!

Observing the Yamas - The Right Attitudes of Yoga

Observing the Yamas - The Right Attitudes of Yoga

We're doing things a little differently this season. We began with some Yamas in fact, having addressed Ahimsa and Bramacharya in previous installments. In this episode Steven Ross and Matthew Choate finish out the Yamas as set out by Patanjali in his Sutras. We explore the concept of restraint or abstinence as a means to preserve one's energy for deeper spiritual practice and the search for enlightenment and happiness.

Reincarnation - Here we go again!

Reincarnation - Here we go again!

Welcome back! In this episode, our hosts Steven Ross and Matthew Choate dive deep into the principle of reincarnation. From the story of the boy who remembered being a WW2 fighter pilot at the age of 2 to the teachings of Yogananda, this introduction to reincarnation covers explores the topic with reverence and humor. Join us as we explore this fascinating and ancient belief!

The Universal Law - What is Karma? Pt.1

The Universal Law - What is Karma? Pt.1

In this episode, our hosts Steven Ross and Matthew Choate dive into the layered topic of karma! In the West we usually refer to karma as a punitive force, so if something goes wrong we might be inclined to blame it on "bad karma." Just like gravity, karma is an ineffable law of the universe, and just like we don't say we have bad gravity when we trip and fall, karma is neither good nor bad... it just is. Join us as we unravel, as much as one can, the mysteries of karma!

    Seeing the Light

    Seeing the Light

Join Steven Ross and Matthew Choate as they continue the discussion on consciousness surviving physical death by examining the Light. Every single major, and minor, faith has descriptions of the divine being associated with light. Although akin to the light of the stars, moon, and sun, there is something special about the light seen in near-death experiences, religious rapture, and visitations from other-worldly beings. This podcast aims to explore the various interpretations of this light and what it means to see it.

Beyond the Veil - Exploring NDEs and the concept of everlasting life

Beyond the Veil - Exploring NDEs and the concept of everlasting life

Hosts Steven Ross and Matthew Choate get stuck into a topic both have researched for many years: the phenomena of near death experiences (or NDEs) and what this research tells us about the existence of our consciousness after our physical bodies fade. This episode also brings in ancient teachings and how all the traditions of all major faith-based systems acknowledge the reality of another realm to which, one day, we shall return.
