How a Ketogenic Diet Can Improve Mental Health with Nicole Laurent
Today we are focusing on nutritional and functional psychiatry practices. Did you know you can often prevent and treat mild cognitive impairment and early dementia through diet and nutrition? My guest, Nicole Laurent, applies functional nutrition and specifically therapeutic carbohydrate restriction as a mental health intervention to help improve brain health. Nicole explains how ketogenic diets work and reassures us that we won't die without dietary carbohydrates. We dive deep into some of the ways ketogenic diets help treat mental illness and neurological disorders. Integrative, Collaborative and Natural Treatment Options with Dr. Lisa Bryant

Integrative, Collaborative and Natural Treatment Options with Dr. Lisa Bryant
Patients sometimes cannot find answers in conventional medicine, and often people want a deeper understanding of their health. Dr. Lisa Bryant joins the podcast today to unpack her integrative approach to health care for men, women and children. Dr. Lisa is a naturopathic physician and the medical director at Vancouver Wellness studio where she collaborates with other providers to provide whole-person care. Dr. Bryant explains how this collaboration works and gives examples of patients who have benefited from this integrative approach. We also answer a common question about whether patients need to choose between conventional or naturopathic medicine. We also talk about Dr. Lisa’s “Bottom of the Pyramid” which helps us create the most stability in our bodies, and how taking incremental steps can lead to bigger changes over time. By approaching the changes in phases, it creates an environment of sustainability and a higher chance of success. She says, “What is this person ready for? And what should be the next step?” Dr. Bryant has also had her own private practice before coming to the Vancouver Wellness Studio and offers advice for someone starting their own wellness practice. It’s important to think about what problem you’re solving, and what your community needs. And above all, help people in the best way you know how. Listen to this great conversation today! Brand Messaging and Digital Marketing that Works with Paul Kuthe

Brand Messaging and Digital Marketing that Works with Paul Kuthe
Business owners can get overwhelmed and feel stuck by the very business that was meant to provide freedom. Paul Kuthe of Tributary Coaching joins me today to talk about marketing and what sort of pitfalls brands can fall into, the common mistakes they make, and how to avoid them. Paul and Tributary use the power of story to help entrepreneurs take action on the right things to help their team and their customers understand their mission with clarity. A lot of the time, brands will start off focusing on one thing or one area, and then as they grow, the message can get sort of confusing or muddled. Paul and I discuss how to keep your brand message clear with a story that makes sense, even if you add different modalities and offers. As a StoryBrand Certified Guide, Paul helps brands fine tune their messaging and marketing. We often think about marketing as an external thing we engage in to get clients in the door, but often we also need to be marketing internally to the team members. Paul explains that it is important to craft and shape the story for our clients so that everyone's working together in a unified way. This can be challenging with several modalities in play, and Paul provides some strategies to find success with this. Paul and I go through some common pieces entrepreneurs may be missing on their website, and unpack what every website should have, and why. This is an amazing checklist you can use to quickly look at your site and understand which tweaks you may need to make to increase conversions. Listen in, this part of our discussion can be a game-changer for your business. Paul also shares his “Grunt Test” which will help you when adjusting your site for increased clarity! Paul is offering you a guide to the five things your website should have. We cover them quickly here, but the guide has some good details to help people get those things up on their website quickly, so they can see some real impact. He also has a free consultation and website audit for you. Simply connect via email or his website! Don’t miss this! Creating a Healthy, Positive Work Culture with Casey Wyckoff

Creating a Healthy, Positive Work Culture with Casey Wyckoff
Casey Wyckoff has started a number of businesses, and in this episode he joins me to share some of his biggest takeaways and what he has learned from that experience. Early in his career as an architect, he was able to learn from his clients who had big visions that it was important to listen, and to understand his core motivations, his “why.” Then to have courage and step out to do the things that were on his heart to do. As an entrepreneur, Casey has started several businesses, and we unpack the common thread between them. Looking from the outside, they may all seem to be very separate, but Casey explains how the core focus for all is on relationships, wellness, effective creation of space or place, and integration with technology. We also dive into the nature of the relationship between Casey’s professional life and his personal life, which can often be challenging for entrepreneurs. We also talked about the most difficult aspect of being a CEO and business owner, and how he’s been able to find success as a leader of high-performing teams who love what they do. Casey also shares the inspiration for his RoadCast project. Traveling with his customized Airstream podcast studio, RoadCast authentically tells the story of designers, creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs by meeting them in the places where their ideas are born. Highly recommended. You should check it out, along with listening to this fantastic conversation I had with Casey! Free Your Creativity and Nourish Your Soul, Opening a Yoga Studio with Heather Jolma-Fray

Free Your Creativity and Nourish Your Soul, Opening a Yoga Studio with Heather Jolma-Fray
As someone who grew up in an entrepreneurial family, starting a business seemed like a natural step for my guest, Heather Jolma-Fray. And in today’s episode, we unpack how she came to open her own yoga studio, and what that journey was like for her. Heather says that part of what appealed to her about studying yoga and learning how to teach movement and mindfulness was this idea that she could play with how to schedule her own time and how to create classes that she really liked to teach. She also mentions that part of the appeal was that she could move around and teach where she wanted. As entrepreneurs, we all dream of and enjoy this “lifestyle freedom,” but it usually comes with some work as well. Heather and I also talked about how entrepreneurship allowed her to be the creative person that she feels like she is and to kind of live life with a certain amount of creativity, and fun, and joy that we get to play with to make our living. And even with the responsibility, Heather feels like entrepreneurship was all encompassing in a good way. It required her creativity and her focus. She says she felt like she could give all of herself to her work and kind of make it what she wanted, put things where she wanted them to be, figure out systems that worked well for her and her clients, rather than kind of having to adapt to something that maybe didn't fit super well. Listen to this episode, because there is so much more that we talk about, like bringing kids to work, and getting to fill your days with the relationships and things that nourish us. You can join Heather for her weekly virtual classes, everyone is welcome. Visit her website at https://www.heatherjolmafray.com/ to learn more. Welcome to the Wellness Center Creators Podcast! Create the Practice You've Always Wanted
Let me guess, you are a health and wellness provider and the place you really want to practice doesn't exist yet. You know better patient outcomes require a whole person multidisciplinary approach that you can't provide on your own. But thinking about starting or expanding into something new feels daunting. You've dreamed up your vision that you just cannot get out of your head because you know how much your community needs this type of care and how impactful it will be. Hi, I'm Kendall Hagensen. And over the past several years, I've created and led a truly holistic, collaborative and multidisciplinary healthcare center in Vancouver, Washington, United States. When I started my business, I was very aware that I didn't know much about the business side of things, but as a therapist, I knew a lot about people, how to build relationships with them, how to find ones that were smarter than me in certain areas, and how to build a positive community. Today, the center is thriving, and we're building a second location. It is my absolute passion to work with health and wellness providers every day, providing business coaching specific to creating multidisciplinary practices and wellness centers of all kinds. My favorite part is when it clicks. And my clients embody the felt sense that creating a wellness center doesn't have to feel like starting over and that they actually don't have to reinvent the wheel. It felt like the right time to develop this new resource, the Wellness Center Creators podcast, where I, along with my guests, help you find WELLth in life and business. Welcome! I’m glad you’re here! Get all the links, resources and show notes here: https://wellnesscentercreators.com And we are grateful to be sponsored by https://jane.app, check them out!
