What did we even talk about?  So much, we talked about Kali’s new job as Communications Manager for McKenzie River Trust: https://www.mckenzieriver.org/, and we go deep into the challenges of nonprofits in so many areas, about community theatre and works she is doing for At Winters Edge at The Very Little Theatre Stage Left: http://www.thevlt.com , still time to go see it!

Then we talk about TV, and movies and stuff.

    The AskWin Episode

This episode is very different. This is a recording of my end of the Ask Win podcast that I was a guest on. Way more talking than I usually do.

Win Charles has been podcasting for 3 years and I will be having her on my podcast to talk more about her story.

    More about the podcast:

Ask Win is a podcast about celebrating life with people from different walks of life, with a focus on those sharing their stories through writing books and/or blogs. We take a look into daily life issues, especially for those storytellers, writers, publishers, artists, journalists and podcasters who have, or are serving those with mental or physical disabilities.

    Wow it's Rob Walch!

    Wow it's Rob Walch!

Wow this is great! Today on my show I have Rob Walsh. One of the pioneers of podcasting here to talk about…podcasting. If you ever wanted some very good info about starting a podcast or you just wonder about what a podcast is and how it’s done, this is the episode for you.

Rob is VP of Podcaster Relations with Libsyn, Liberated Syndication, the company that hosts my podcast. When the top podcasters in the industry want to know how to do better, Rob is their go-to guy.

I was introduced to him on The Feed: https://thefeed.libsyn.com/

He is also host of the podCast411 Podcast / Blog, the Today in iOS Podcast /blog, co-host of Today in Podcasting Podcast, co-host of the Feed Podcast and host of the KC Startup 411 Podcast.

He is also co-author of the book "Tricks of the Podcasting Masters" and has been the podcasting consultant to Gov. Bill Richardson, Senator John Edwards, Dr. Mark Hyman, Tim Ferriss, Jack Welch and many others.  He has been a monthly columnist for Blogger and Podcaster Magazine as well as App Developer Magazine and is the organizer of the Kansas City Podcaster Meetup.

We talk about the early days of podcasting, why the biggest names in podcasting are big. Why no one starting out should worry about getting bigger, but instead should focus on getting better or just having fun! We also talk about a bunch of behind the scenes type stuff.

We go on for awhile about things from religion to film to making movies and reality TV shows and much more. Somehow we got on to twitter kills! Fun conversation. Can’t wait to do it again.

With Ryan Olson Talking Acting and Aliens

On this episode I talk to Ryan Olson. Ryan is a veteran, a father, an actor, voice over artist, has owned his own production company and was featured on the cover of The Eugene Weekly for an article focusing on theater as therapy for returning military veterans. We talk about Acting and some of our favorite big-name actors such as Tom Hardy, aliens, improve, lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, atheism and PTSD. We planned on talking a lot more about PTSD, but that didn’t happen, so I hope to have Ryan back on soon.

Acting/Directing/producing and Laughing with Paul Bright

Acting/Directing/producing and Laughing with Paul Bright

Today on the Podcast I share a lot of laughs and good advice with Paul Bright. Writer/producer/director/editor of 11 feature films who started his career as a union actor before graduating from Hollywood High School. He was the founding artistic director of a repertory theater in the Austin, Texas area and realized more people would see a single movie than an entire season of theater. He resigned from producing stage plays to direct feature films in 2005 and his movies are distributed around the world, both legally and illegally. Two films are in post-production, nine films are streaming online on many different platforms. They are all linked through

    paulbrightfilms.com

He moved to Oregon from New York in 2012 and made a series of TV commercials and public service announcements with Joel Albrecht, Kate Young and Marci Long, along with other video production work in Eugene for companies and non-profit organizations. Now he's performing on stage in Portland theater productions, just finishing the Portland Actors Ensemble production of Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT. He is launching a new theater troupe, with former Eugene actor Jonas Israel, called Oregon Yiddish! (OY!) staging Yiddish plays in Portland in 2020.

He has a course on Udemy.com (u-DEM-ee), which is a learning platform, on independent filmmaking, with nearly 1400 students representing 85 countries, and translated into 24 languages. Less than half the students live in the United States. He's currently creating another course for Udemy on screenwriting.

He has a comedic video commentary series that skewers life's hypocrisies, called Paul's Tub Talks.

Previous seasons are streaming on YouTube. The new season is available through patreon.com/paulbrightfilms

His passion is for filmmaking and telling unique stories with a distinct perspective.

After completing and releasing CROSSING SHAKY GROUND and STARS IN HIS EYES, Paul’s next feature film will be a sci-fi time travel comedy filming in Portland.

With The Incredibly Humble and Talented Brian Haimbach

Tonight’s guest is Brian Haimbach, writer, actor, and head of the theater program at Lane Community College.

Brian and I talked a little about acting, a little about directing, a little about the theater program at LCC, a little about travel and a bit about his one man show “How to be a Sissy” that he was able to perform at Edinburgh Festival Fringe thanks to a grant from Oregon Arts Commission.

There was also some mention of beards and how handsome Brian’s husband is.

With Very Special Guest Bruce Burchmore

This time I have Bruce Burchmore on the phone. Bruce is a Pilates instructor in Los Angeles. He is also writer, producer, director of a documentary called Harpsichordia. From his website: Bruce Burchmore developed an enduring fascination of the harpsichord repertoire as a graduate student in musicology and early plucked strings performance. His main interest was the 17th- and early 18th-century French repertoires for lute, theorbo and Baroque guitar, and quickly found that a strong knowledge of the contemporary harpsichord schools augmented his expertise in French Baroque music in general. He has several published articles in the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2nd. ed.), and is in the process of finalizing a study of the Saizenay manuscripts for solo lute and theorbo, accompanied by a complete modern edition with critical apparatus.

We talk about the adventures of making a documentary and so much more.

With My Very Dear Friend Jon Griffin

Wow, episode 13 recorded on the 13! Now we’re talking. This time it’s a conversation with a dear friend of mine, Jon Griffin, who I have known for 20 years? He is an audio engineer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, Cinematographer, singing bowl energy healer, all around lovely person, and some other things I’m sure I forgot.  We talk about people, places, arts, food, culture, putting positive energy in the world, the connection we all share on the planet and quite possibly getting away from the pedestrian level of consciousness.

We also talk a little about micro dosing and Jim Fadiman, the effects of no sleep, and how we ended up on the podcast on this day at this moment.

This episode goes deeper than most.

We also highly recommend 1960 Cocina on 18th and Willamette in Eugene, OR, USA!

This one is more about the show and about myself. It's like one of those long social media posts that you don't know if you should be reading, but then you realize that it's very interesting stuff and you can't stop and people are loving it. Another words, it gets a little personal. There is a companion video that I sort of got all wrong. Link below.
