Episode 190: ROLEX SODA WARS
Well, Spence and Spangler talk some predictions from the crown as well as some SEASONAL stuff from GS. Enjoy!
Well, Spence and Spangler talk some predictions from the crown as well as some SEASONAL stuff from GS. Enjoy!
Despite not publishing an episode for a couple of weeks, we have the nerve to discuss streaks! Namely, which brand has been on a bit of a tear as of late.
In this week's episode Spence, Spangler, and Buzz are joined by our friend Mike Stockton from Fratello watches! We talk about what the future of Universal Geneve under Breitling ownership might look like. We also each build a watch (Spangler's idea) based on components of existing timepieces. A sort of everyman's Moser Swiss Legend concept. Enjoy!
This episode we riff on the concept of the worst watch in the world. We do this in the vein of the old Top Gear, and the answer(s) may surprise you. We even consider a Rolex making the cut! Enjoy!
On this week's episode the gang is all here, and they throw down. We each pick (semi-sarcastic) new year's resolutions for each other. No holds were barred.
We would like to wish each of our 12 listeners a very happy and prosperous new year. We had some fun this week recording with our first listener, @motorjon68 at a new haunt. We hope you enjoy!
In this episode we discuss release strategies from watch brands, and why holiday releases might not really be a thing.
We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season!
This episode we have Spence and Buzz talking about new watches, but also new watch BRAND acquisitions. We talk about the recent Breitling acquisition of Universal Geneve and what it might mean for Watches & Wonders 2024. Enjoy!
Well you have the OG lineup this week, and just in time for the weekend. We get into some good old fashioned debates on certain topics such as consolidation, Grand Seiko, and a more. There is also a good amount of sidebar conversation, if you like that sort of thing. Enjoy!
Rumors of our demise have been grossly overstated. We have, however, had a busy November. We do apologize, dear listeners, for leaving you in the lurch for so long. While the time off was busy, there was a new watch added to Spence's collection. We wax poetically about it in this episode. We hope you enjoy!
This week's episode is a lot of fun. Spence sits down with Nick, from StrapHabit. We talk about the origin of the pink strap collaboration with Brodinkee, watch collecting, and where he wants to take his brand next.
This episode was a long time coming, as we have actually met IN PERSON before (crazy right?)! It was great to catch up with Nick and all of the cool things he is doing.
There is still time to get your pink straps to support Men Wear Pink, so be sure to check them out soon!
If you have made it this far go check out StrapHabit.com and enter promocode WHISKEY15 for a discount!
Enjoy!
This episode has been teased, and for good reason. We are delighted to have our buddy Chris Sohl back on the show. Chris has been rather busy since we last spoke with him. As an avid diver and watch enthusiast, he has had the opportunity to be at, or in some cases organize, some pretty cool events in which his two passions intersect. Whether it be Wind Up In a Lake, the recent Tudor FXD launch, or a Mark V dive with a special meaning. His experiences have allowed us to live vicariously through him at times, and his storytelling is superb. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did!
It has been a minute, but we are finally back. Spence and the Buzzman talk new releases from Seiko, Certina, Blancpain, and Zenith. We also have some personal fresh forum finds, and we talk a bit about beauty and objectivity in watches. Enjoy!
Sundials aside, we talk about some watches that have caught our eye, and a friend who has a new pick up. Enjoy!
I think we have used this episode title before, but it is fitting. We are coming to you live (almost) on the release of the new Pelagos FXD (not on location though). Keeping it simple for this one, just Spence, Spangler, and Tudor Talk.
The title says it all. Two things that were previously unfathomable (well, maybe one, but still) happened recently and we have yet to talk about them. So we talk about them. Enjoy!
Sad news this week, legendary host of The Price Is Right, Bob Barker, passed away at the age of 99. While we are all saddened by the news, we felt a tribute was in order. So we brought friend of the show @Brodinkee back to play host to a little competition between Spence and Buzz. This was a lot of fun to record, and despite having to do most of the work, we think @Brodinkee enjoyed playing host. Enjoy!
This episode is a lot of fun. While Spangler is away, Spence and Buzz play with a fun idea. We didn't even get through all of our thoughts on this, so see if there is a follow up episode!
We talk about the evolution of watch tastes within specific watch categories. How one might start out with a Seiko and end up with a Submariner! This was a lot more fun than either of us anticipated, we hope you enjoy!
This episode is the first time we have had brothers as guests on the podcast. Surprising that it has taken us this long, but it was worth the wait. We have local friends Zack and Mitch who both have influenced each other along their collecting journey. Additionally, many of you may have run across Mitch's website, Menswearmusings.com! We get the inside scoop on his journey and passion for tailored clothing, the experience of going to Pitti Uomo in Florence, and how welcoming the menswear community can be. There is a significant amount of overlap here with watch collecting, so these topics seem to fit like a well tailored jacket, enjoy!
This week's episode was pitched to us (and Wrist Cheese Radio) by a listener local to us in Cincinnati. We all have watches that fill a gap in our collection, and for that reason, there are other watches we do not own. In some ways, this is the collection we could have had. It is our doppelganger collection. Enjoy!
