    Red Tornado's Sad NYC Adventure

    Red Tornado's Sad NYC Adventure

Justice League of America #175 (1980)

Join Shawn and Jen as we follow up on last week’s JLA book with a pointless tale about everyone’s favorite super-powered Eeyore, Red Tornado! You see, Reddy got sad over something again and impulsively quit the League to resume his normal life as a Yul Brenner lookalike in NYC. He assembles an instant family in the span of 20 minutes and goes to a Halloween parade in February where he is attacked by Doctor Destiny and his “bad dream machine” that only makes you see giant bugs. We also question the potentially lewd placement of Justice League cameras throughout NYC. Naturally, we blame Clark.

The RETURN of Worst Collection Ever!

The RETURN of Worst Collection Ever!

Justice League of America #174 (1980)

WE ARE BACK! Worst Collection Ever returns with its first new episode in over two years as we tackle an old reliable friend in the Justice League of America!

Join Shawn and Jen as we talk about the JLA’s blundering attempt to bring Black Lightning into their ranks while simultaneously fighting mutant rats and sometimes ants in Metropolis. Also, Wonder Woman engages in some unwarranted urban renewal and Elongated Man hangs around and is generally annoying.

    The Flash Faces The Heat

    The Flash Faces The Heat

    The Flash #266 (1978)

We tackle The Flash in this week’s episode as Barry faces the challenge of a 100% fully functioning Heat Wave. Heat Man here has to overcome his fear of the cold by having his insane therapist throw buckets of ice at him. This plan to defeat The Flash comes to include the desecration of a frozen corpse and the permanent maiming of house servants via furious body shaking. Thankfully, Barry is a maniac so he obliges.

There’s also a Kid Flash back-up where Wally loses his speed powers to a desperate thief only to get electrocute said thief and get his powers back. Wally also may end up having some nooner.

Spider-Man & Quasar in AMERICAN PSYCHO

Spider-Man & Quasar in AMERICAN PSYCHO

    Marvel Team-Up #113 (1982)

This week, we start off 2022 with Spider-Man and Quasar having a contentious team-up to defeat the ghost of the Lightmaster. Spidey get his sense working and skips out on graduate class yet again, raising the concern of his wanton disregard for educational funding. Also, Quasar walks around with business cards like he’s Patrick Bateman and conjures up phallic drilling objects to impress college co-eds.

    Aquaman's Sexy Adventure

    Aquaman's Sexy Adventure

    Adventure Comics #450 (1977)

In our last book of the year, we take a look at something from Aquaman’s ADVENTURE COMICS run where a crippling tragedy DIDN’T happen. Here, Arthur takes on the Weather Wizard, who has stolen a secret government sex toy that will help him defeat The Flash. A bunch of nonsense happens in the Bermuda Triangle and we ultimately conclude that an octopus makes a terrible babysitter.

We also have a short back-up story with Martian Manhunter avenging the death of his muppet friend. Apparently, the murderer was an Earth human and J’onn runs afoul of Supergirl, who fights him off in various sexy poses. This is a surprisingly erotic book.

Also, heads up on slight THE MATRIX: RESURRECTIONS spoilers.

    Marvel Holiday Special

    Marvel Holiday Special

    Marvel Holiday Special (1991)

Happy holidays everyone! In the spirit of the season, we are taking a look at Marvel’s — apparently — first-ever holiday special. It’s a collection of short, relatively wholesome stories but there’s some insanity in here as well. Like Santa being a mutant. Or Captain America finding out Bucky has an estranged sister. Or the Blob having a fetish for department store mannequins. Bet you didn’t see that one coming.

Also, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME spoilers exist within....take note

Are The Metal Men A CULT?!?

Are The Metal Men A CULT?!?

    Metal Men [vol 2] #1 (1993)

After a period of semi-obscurity, the Metal Men are BACK with a new mini-series that was certainly intended to bring about a new ongoing but ultimately didn’t. Probably had to do with Doc Magnus’s new grumpy 90s attitude and affinity for big modern laser guns. But hey, at least the United States got to make Australia jealous by housing a meteor AND playing host to Superman’s death. WE’RE NUMBER ONE!

    Hellcat & The Avengers

    Hellcat & The Avengers

    Avengers #144 (1976)

Sending good vibes to mighty George Perez as we discuss one of his Avengers books from the 70s.

Here, the Avengers and Patsy Walker are farting around in Roxxon/Brand, jumping on missiles and what not. Cap and Iron Man come across The Cat costume just hanging out and are like, “hey Patsy - wear this.” Patsy then unleashes a mighty stream of shinfo before agreeing to becoming Hellcat. Also, some old people call the police.

    Batman In Crisis

    Batman In Crisis

    Batman #389 (1985)

Batman’s dealing with a bunch of crises as not only is the world falling apart with its red skies and infinite earths but Catwoman’s back in town and she might be killing dudes with shoes. Ever so graceful with the ladies, Batman basically negs Catwoman and leaves her crying but not before showing her a stalactite (stalagmite?) that looks like a cat. Also, Jason Todd thinks Nocturna is his mom.

    Doc Samson

    Doc Samson

    Doc Samson #1 (1996)

Doc Samson is Hulk’s psychiatrist buddy who seemingly only has clients that have green hair. He travels to NYC to help figure out a gamma-radiated serial killer while simultaneously costing the city thousands in tax dollars spent on airfare. The Hulk also stops by to give Doc a Hanukkah gift.

    Teen Titans In The 70s

    Teen Titans In The 70s

    Teen Titans #46 (1977)

Just a heads up — there are significant ETERNALS movie spoilers in the first half of the show.

The Teen Titans are tasked with figuring out the Fiddler in this issue, who may have inspired Charlie Daniels to write “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Fiddler’s here messing with a concert for the youths, unleashing bees and rats everywhere. To help with the case, the Titans bring on the Joker’s Daughter for a trial period because she has lip-shooting projectiles and knows funny bone MMA as well as Mal Duncan and his gimmicked shofar.

    Good Job, The Eternals

    Good Job, The Eternals

    Eternals [vol 5] #1 (2021)

So this is a pretty big deal, not because there’s an ETERNALS movie coming out this week but its probably the first time in SEVEN YEARS of this podcast that Shawn has taken notes on the comic he’s reading fo the show. Its called growth.

Anyhow, the Eternals are a race of super-powered guys and gals put on Earth by mad space scientists and left alone with malevolent Mogwais for…reasons?!? Iron Man shows up to get Sersi’s number and Zuras the Prime Eternal gets Iron Clawed to death, presumably by Kevin Von Erich since he’s the only one of them still alive.

    A Marvel Zombies Halloween

    A Marvel Zombies Halloween

    Marvel Zombies [vol 1] #3 (2006)

    Happy almost Halloween folks!

This week, we jump into the world of the Marvel Zombies as the superheroes and supervillains of Earth-71669 all got sick and started snacking down on humanity. A lot of it doesn’t make sense though with Wolverine not automatically healing and Cap still able to function perfectly with his brains out of his head. That and what is it exactly that Silver Surfer’s skin is made of? These are probably easy answers that we are too lazy to look up. All this plus we share our top celebrities that we think would work best to have their torso hollowed out and our sentient head placed inside like Krang.

    DC Fan (Thunder) Dome

    DC Fan (Thunder) Dome

We had every intention of doing a comic this week but we got sidetracked because so much GOOD SH*T to come out of DC Fandome this year. Join us as we give spicy takes on the BLACK ADAM footage, THE FLASH trailer, the latest on PEACEMAKER, BLUE BEETLE and of course, THE BATMAN, where we ask why Robert Pattinson is so greasy. Also, we are aware that we mixed up Robert Pattinson and Robert Patrick’s names. We know the difference between vampires and Terminators.

All this plus our thoughts on HALLOWEEN KILLS and VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE.

    Batman In The 50's

    Batman In The 50's

    World’s Finest Comics #81 (1956)

This week, we celebrate Batman in the 50s as we slap around this WORLD’S FINEST where a time-traveling historian shows up in present time to tell Bats and Supes that they’ve been doing it all wrong this whole time. Of course, these two are idiots and believe this dude right away, going about the business of letting crooks out of jail and B’Wana Beast-ing an entire zoo of animals.

    The Beak and Da Butt

    The Beak and Da Butt

    Exiles #65 (2005)

EXILES (or eXiles if you will) are a crew of temporal Defenders made up mostly of mutants, including Blink, Sabretooth and some dude with a soul patch. In this issue, we wrap up a storyline involving life jacket-wearing insects, a sand enema and three different Hyperions, one which looks like Michael Chiklis.

    Barbie Does Murder

    Barbie Does Murder

    Barbie #5 (1991)

    Barbie Fashion #32 (1993)

Good Lord what are we up to this week. We’ve got TWO Barbie comics that we beat up on and ultimately, we’ve come to the harsh conclusion that Barbie and Ken are a part of a murder cult. There are multiple instances where she tries to rub out Skipper, a young girl who believes she can talk to swans.
