Het slavernijverleden in Suriname is nauw verbonden met de plantage. In de 19e eeuw waren er zo´n 800. Van één van die plantages, koffie- en katoenplantage Zeezigt, staat in het Rijksmuseum een diorama gemaakt door de Surinaamse kunstenaar Gerrit Schouten. Hoe zag een plantage eruit? Het Rijksmuseum heeft schilderijen in alle formaten, van piepklein tot gigantisch groot. Maar slechts één kan er de grootste zijn. Het schilderij ‘De Slag bij Waterloo’  is met zijn 5.5 bij 8 meter haast net zo groot als de gebeurtenis die het verbeeldt. Maar waarom hangt het schilderij eigenlijk in Nederland? We were joined by Grammy-nominated soul artist B.Slade, a self-described "Rhythm Nation-pedia" who, indeed, brought incredible insight and knowledge to our discussion of this seminal Jackson LP.
