    Inspired by the many teachers who mentored her, my guest today became an educator and enjoyed a multi-decade career, working with middle-school children as well as with prospective teachers. Retired now, she is Professor Emerita at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia, and holds degrees from The William Paterson University; Purdue University; and Indiana University. 

    She received the Alumni Distinguished Professor Award, the Outstanding Social Studies Educator in Georgia Award, and the Refugee Champion Award. 

    Her academic research and writing focused on effective teaching and leadership strategies in culturally diverse settingsBut, her latest writing is a debut book for the general public. Seeing Eye Girl: A Memoir of Madness, Resilience, and Hope will launch on July 5, 2022.
