HOST JACKIE TANTILLO- Keep Your Hands And Your Heart Busy With Guest Teacher And Performer Ann Miceli Teed. Looking Back At S2E7

Her mother Ann was glamorous, graceful and spiritual, says Ann Miceli Teed of her loving mother.  One of 5 children and her mother's name sake, both Anns had a very special relationship.

My guest's father sang in the chorus on broadway and her mother worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan before moving upstate New York.

Though Ann's mother has passed, she feels her mother's presence and guidance to this day. Ann credit's her birth order for her exceptional relationship with her mother, 4th of the 5 children and  is thankful that by the time Ann was born, her mom was able to spend more one on one time with her because she had help from the older siblings. Mud pies was one of their favorite  outdoor activities.

She credits her mother as one of her best teachers. With no formal teaching  credentials, her mother was involved with children's events and community related activities that benefitted from her expertise and calm and creative demeanor.

To this day, Ann keeps her spiritual beliefs alive and attributes her mother's guidance to  getting through each and every day.

"Should Have Listened To My Mother" is an ongoing conversation about mothers and the roles they play in our lives. And my guests answer the question, 'are you who you are today because of, or in spite of, your mother'? You'll be amazed at what the responses are.

"Should Have Listened To My Mother" would not be possible without the generosity, sincerity and insight from my guests. In getting ready to launch my podcast, so many were willing to give their time and share their personal relationships with their mother.

Some of my guests include Baritone Singer Christopheren Nomura, Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist Tim Wacker, Activist Kim Miller, Freighter Sea Captain Terry Viscount, Film Production Manager Peg Robinson, Professor of Writing Montclair State University Dr. Bridget Brown, Tammy Steckler, attorney and family advocate @CUNY Law; NYC First Responder/NYC Firefighter Mark Heingartner, Child and Adult Special Needs Activist, Maryellen Valyo Cole and Roger Evens, Property Manager in New Jersey and so many more talented and insightful women and men.

I've worked in the broadcasting industry for over four decades. I've interviewed so many fascinating people including musicians, celebrities, authors, activists, entrepreneurs, politicians and more.

Episode 98: "No Phones For A Week" with Donna Freitas

Whether you find yourself out in public, or in the privacy of your own home, chances are that when you are in the presence of others, many of them have their eyes focused on their smartphone screens. Our lives are so focused on our phones that we are seeing the breakdown of relationships, attention spans, and critical thinking. What would happen if we locked our phones away for an entire week? College professor Donna Freitas recently conducted an experiment where she had her students untether for seven days. Join us for a lively and eye-opening conversation with Donna about what she and her students learned about our dependence on smartphones and what happens when we shut down, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

Robert Vani Keeping the Dream Alive: Overcoming an Elbow Injury at 11 Years Old to Playing Collegiate Baseball, and now getting his Doctorate

Former Adelphi University Collegiate Baseball Player, Robert Vani joins the show in this episode and shares his amazing story of overcoming little leaguer's elbow at the tender age of 11 years old and continuing with his dream towards playing collegiate baseball.  Rob represents Long Island Baseball (my old stomping grounds!) to the fullest graduating from one of the top catholic schools in the country, Chaminade high school in Mineola, NY.  Not only was Rob a stellar high school baseball player but also a top student.  Rob and I met through former St. Louis Cardinal's Minor League RHP Jonathan Mulford.  Learn how his journey almost took him to playing collegiate baseball at Harvard University but after a tragedy continues on his journey to play in college.  Now Rob goes down my footsteps into the world of Sports Performance and Physical Therapy as a Stony Brook Doctor of Physical Therapy Student at Stony Brook University in Long Island.  He now looks to bring his baseball experience full circle into Professional Baseball through his new lens as a future Physical Therapist in the winter/spring of 2021.

For those professional teams out there please e-mail me at davemeyer@plperform.com if you are interested in having a PT student join your team in 2021.
