    Ep79: The Path of Daggers, Chapters 12 - 15

What a mix in this episode!

Three forsaken in one room. That goes about as well as you'd imagine. ThenCadsuane and Sorilea in one room, another clash of strong personalities...

Rand is scooping up the remnants of Lord Brend's army in the countryside and then gets reports from Eben Hopwill, Fedwin Morr and Torval before sending them all off. Narishma gets some special instructions too...

And we get back to Egwene who has had another obstacle put in her way. Quite literally. An army.

    Ep67: A Crown of Swords, Chapters 10 - 12

    Ep67: A Crown of Swords, Chapters 10 - 12

In this episode we focus in on Egwene as she tries deperately to carve out her place within the Aes Sedai while maintaining her link to the Wise Ones and Rand.

First she deals with Faolain and Theodrin with great results! But she is quickly reminded of the work she has cut out for her when she's cornered by Romanda and Lelaine. To the point that she just walks away from them in order to follow up with a request from Gareth Bryne and simultaneously question Myrelle over some suspicious behavior observed by Siuan.

Gareth comes through with a veiled pledge of alliegance to Egwene, personally, instead of the Hall. A hug win for our girl.

And finally, Myrelle is forced to lead Egwene and Siuan to the secret camp where she had been "rehabilitating" Lan. Egwene puts a quick stop to this and sends Lan on a mission to Ebou Dar.

But what did you think of these chapters? Or of our observations of these chapters? Let us know via the links below!

    Ep64: A Crown of Swords, Prologue - Chapter 1

    Ep64: A Crown of Swords, Prologue - Chapter 1

Mmmmm, that's the smell of a brand new book!

We start A Crown of Swords pretty much exactly where we left off with Lord of Chaos: Dumai's Wells.

Elaida and Alviarin catch up and we get a clear view of Elaida's state of mind. Spoiler: it's no bueno.

We see Sevanna's point of view just before, during and immediately after the battle at Dumai's wells

Alviarin gets a visit from a Forsaken and learns a new trick.

Pedron Niall is assassinated and Eamon Valda immediately moves in to capitalise.

And Gawyn leads the remnants of the Younglings in battle against some Shaido.

Lastly, we have Perrin sitting nervously, observing the boiling tension around the makeshift camp after the batlle of Dumai's Wells, and we see the signs of his difference of opinion to Rand.

Loads of setup with a decent amount of action Let us know what you think!

    Enjoy!
    Mo, Willie and Jody

Ep63: Lord of Chaos, Chapter 53 - Epilogue

Ep63: Lord of Chaos, Chapter 53 - Epilogue

Ok, get comfy. It's not our beefiest episode yet, but it's beefy nonetheless.

Everyone realises what's happened to Rand, so Perrin leads an all star team to rescue him and they set off after the kidnappers.

Rand is not doing so well, physically or mentally.

By the time Perrin arrives chaos erupts in one of the most iconic battles in the series.

Join us as we discuss Dumai's Wells and the events leading up to and immediately after the battle itself, then let us know what you think of our hairbrained interpretations!

    Ep62: Lord of Chaos, Chapters 48 - 52

    Ep62: Lord of Chaos, Chapters 48 - 52

Oooooooo, we're getting close now! In this episode we set up for the explosive finale for Lord of Chaos and things are really heating up!

Nynaeve, Elayne, Mat and co set out on their mission in Ebou Dar after the wonder girls meet with Queen Tylin. Who turns out to be a formiddable figure but ultimately friendly to the ladies. the girls have no luck in the Rahad butt do catch a glimpse of a healer who seems to be able to channel...

Mat's luck is ebbing slightly as he tries desperately, and without success, to keep tabs on Elayne like he'd promised Rand.

The Salidar embassy tries to bully Rand and it comepletely backfires. When Rand learns there are 13 Aes Sedai in Caemlyn he rallies his closest allies (including Loial!) and they teleportt to Cairhien.

In Cairhien Rand seems to relax a little but Perrin is having a torrid time as the Faile vs Berelain games begin in earnest.

And when everyonbe is adequately distracted, Galina and the Tower embassy kidnap Rand through trickery and stuff him in a box.

Things are about to pop off, bigtime!

So let us know what you think using any of the links below!

    Ep45: The Fires of Heaven, Chapters 26 - 32

    Ep45: The Fires of Heaven, Chapters 26 - 32

Welcome back for a doozy of an episode! 7 chapters covered in this one...

Siuan, Min, Leanne and Logain make it to Salidar where they get a bit of a cold welcome, followed shortly by Gareth Bryne who promptly joins the Salidar cause as their shiny new general! Partly because he can't helphimself, but mostly because he's kinda into ol' Siuan...

We have a brief moment of horror with Hadnan Kadere, just to remind us how vile he is, but then we switch to Rand who sends some Aiel ahead to recon Cairhien and the Shaido situation, before following a startled Aviendha through a gateway into a blizzard! They keep each other warm and make their way back through the gateway to relative safety.

    It's a big one!

As always, send your opinions, answers to our questions, theories, corrections etc to any of the social media links below. And leave us a voicemail on our website homepage. Heck, we may play it on the show!

    Ep11: The Great Hunt, Chapters 6 - 11

    Ep11: The Great Hunt, Chapters 6 - 11

Well, we've done it again. Beaten our own record for longest episode. At this rate the final episode of A Memory of Light will be 24h long... But I digress.

Fal Dara is under attack! The seemingly impenetrable fortress of Fal Dara is suddenly crawling with shadowspawn and darkfriends but somehow Rand still manages to be all "emo" about everything. He makes a grizzly discovery in the dungeons, Liandrin is the worst and Lan gives Nynaeve a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Also, the "true" hunt begins in earnest! The boys race off with Ingtar and his crew of merry lancers to track down the Horn of Valere and the dagger from Shadar Logoth, and the ladies set off for Tar Valon. But not before Rand has an extremely tense audience with the Amyrlin Seat herself and we get to see more of the political games being played by the Aes Sedai.

As always we speculate with reckless abandon, so feel free to join the discourse via:

Ep10: The Great Hunt, Prologue - Chapter 5

Ep10: The Great Hunt, Prologue - Chapter 5

Here we are, The Great Hunt has begun!

We pick up the action almost immediately after we left off The Eye of the World with the whole gang in Fal Dara, which gets a surprise visit from the Amyrlin Seat herself!

We're introduced to a number of new Aes Sedai characters, some of which are downright evil. In fact, we start the book with glimpses of a gathering of about 100 high ranking Darkfriends at the now infamous "Darkfriend Social".

Rand is being an indecisive jerk and Moiraine is playing a dangerous game. The politics in The White Tower are becoming treacherous, there are rumors of a strange invading force on the West Coast and suddenly we have a sprawling epic full of mystery and intrigue unfurling before us.

As always we speculate with reckless abandon, so feel free to join the discourse via:

Ep9: The Eye of the World, Chapters 48 - 53

Ep9: The Eye of the World, Chapters 48 - 53

Finally, it's here: Our season finale for The Eye of The World!

We were a little late on recording this one due to some scheduling challenges, and even though we made it work we had a couple of audio problems, but nothing that would diminish your ability to enjoy our ramblings. So without further ado...

In our final episode we follow "the fellowship" from Fal Dara into the godawful Blight where they get up close and personal with the Blight flora and fauna, find the Green Man and The Eye of the World and then are forced to deal with two belligerent gate crashers, Aginor and Balthamel. And finally Rand can't deny the fact that he can channel after destroying an entire army of Trollocs and Halfmen at Tarwin's Gap.

It doesn't take long before we get confused, but for once I think everyone else is in the same boat. So come be confused with us! And where you think you have answers to questions we can't answer ourselves, please let us know via any of the following channels:

Ep8: The Eye of the World, Chapters 42 - 47

Ep8: The Eye of the World, Chapters 42 - 47

We're really getting to the pointy end now...

In this episode we get introduced to The Ways and promptly look for the exit, the gang travel all the way to Fal Dara in the Borderlands where an army of Shadowspawn are gathering at Tarwin's Gap, and we get a big exposition dump from ol' Padan Fain. This is the last setup before the final climax, so naturally we get completely sidetracked by the history of Malkier and the horror poetry of Machin Shin.

We also have new social media links to plug, so here they are!

    Enjoy!

Ep7: The Eye of the World, Chapters 36 - 41

Ep7: The Eye of the World, Chapters 36 - 41

    Welcome back, friends!

In our latest episode we dust off the dirt from the Caemlyn Road and revel in the festival-like atmosphere of Rex Manning... I mean, False Dragon Day in Caemlyn!

Lan, Moiraine and Nynaeve stage a daring rescue, we meet our first Ogier and Rand manages to fail utterly at laying low by attracting the attention of a crazed Padan Fain, The Daughter Heir of Andor, the Queen, her Captain General and one of the most terrifying Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah. Nice one, Rand.

As always we meander into other topics like Perrin's slabs of muscle, the cult classic film Empire Records and how a teenage party animal chose to read A Path of Daggers instead of joining the biggest party of his young life. Truly inspiring stuff. (This is a joke.)

Ep6: The Eye of the World, Chapters 30 - 35

Ep6: The Eye of the World, Chapters 30 - 35

Ok, I know I always start with "It's a big one this week!", but this time we really do have our biggest episode yet. Foolishly I thought this one would be thin, but it is WAY fat. In a good way!

We pick up with Egwene and Perrin as they jump from the frying pan of killer crows into the fire of seething Whitecloak contempt. Then we join Rand and Mat as they journey down the Caemlyn road, playing music and performing in inns while staving off constant attempts at their lives. It's dreary business but somehow we manage to make it a lively topic of discussion.

And we end it off with the boys reaching Caemlyn which is a lovely reprieve from the incessant nightmares and attempted murder.

As always we don't shy away from wild speculation, so when we inevitably miss the plot completely, let us know via the contact page on bloodandashespodcast.com, or email me directly at moritz@bloodandashespodcast.com.

    Enjoy!

Ep5: The Eye of the World, Chapters 24 - 29

Ep5: The Eye of the World, Chapters 24 - 29

Oh my, it's our biggest episode yet!

This stretch of the book felt like it didn't have too much meat on it, but we managed to find some things to chew on, boy oh boy.

The group is still split with Mat, Rand and Thom passing through Whitebridge 2 days before Lan, Moiraine and Nynaeve. And Perrin and Egwene are escorted by Elyas and the wolves while travelling with the Tinkers for a while. We have a fight with a Fade, a dip into the history of the Aiel by way of the Tinkers and Perrin being confronted by his newfound ability to communicate with wolves, but somehow we get fixated on the smell of a burnt Halfman? Sounds about right!

Feel free to reach out to us with feedback via the website www.bloodandashespodcast.com or email me directly at moritz@bloodandashespodcast.com.

    Enjoy!

Ep4: The Eye of the World, Chapters 18 - 23

Ep4: The Eye of the World, Chapters 18 - 23

    It's a meaty one!

As the gang leave Baerlon we see our first big Trolloc battle, we're introduced to Shadar Logoth and the crazy history of that city and its denizens, the group is splintered, Nynaeve figures out she can channel and Perrin learns about his awesome Wolfishness!

As always, please send any feedback to us via the website: bloodandashespodcast.com, or email me directly at moritz@bloodandashespodcast.com

We thoroughly enjoyed this episode and hope you do too!

    Cheers,

Ep3: The Eye of the World, Chapters 12 - 17

Ep3: The Eye of the World, Chapters 12 - 17

    Welcome back!

In this episode we follow the gang as they leave the Two Rivers behind and experience their first "city" in Baerlon. We encounter Min, Whitecloaks, spies, shadowspawn and worse and somehow we get fixated on the meaning of a beggar's staff in a vision and who burned the inn.

We continue our unbeaten run of pondering interesting aspects of the story without actually knowing what we're talking about. But we have a great time doing it.

Please leave any feedback on our website: www.bloodandashespodcast.com, or email me at moritz@bloodandashespodcast.com

Ep2: The Eye of the World, Chapters 6 - 11

Ep2: The Eye of the World, Chapters 6 - 11

    Welcome back!

In this episode we take care of a bit of housework up front, touching on the episode naming convention and listener submissions via our website: www.bloodandashespodcast.com

We then join the Emond's Fielders as they deal with the attack on Winter's Night, Rand seeks help for Tam and the original adventuring party is formed before they set off on a desperate flight toward the edge of the Two Rivers on their way to Tar Valon.

As usual we digress into fun observations, talk about casting for the TV show and ruminate about what constitutes a "band" of Trollocs which culminates in one of the daddest dad jokes I've ever delivered.

    Enjoy!

Ep1: The Eye of the World, Prologue - Chapter 5

Ep1: The Eye of the World, Prologue - Chapter 5

Our premiere episode! Welcome one and all.

First things first, Jody's microphone is not great in this premier episode, but it's definitely listenable. But from the next episode that problem has been solved and his audio is silky smooth, so please do keep that in mind!

In this episode we cover the prologue, "Dragonmount", all the way through to the end of chapter 5, "Winternight". Obviously with spoilers throughout.

We try to keep things moving along while at the same time letting our collective geek minds run rampant and I think we strike a good balance.

We have some great introductions to major characters, a bit of a lore detour to the Age of Legends and give a couple of thoughts and opinions about the TV adaptation currently in the works.

We don't mention it in the conversation, but at the time of publishing this episode our website is live at www.bloodandashespodcast.com, so please stop by the site and submit any comments, messages, half formed thoughts (the best kind), corrections, clarifications, anything at all via the "Contact Us" section.

    Enjoy!
