Ugandan sports currently grapples with a complex network of interconnected challenges, including severe financial constraints, persistent mismanagement issues, a significant talent drain, and the undeniable impacts of climate change. The question is:  how can their sports improve and develop talent without further contributing to the climate crisis?

Diving into this question with us is Sharon Muzaki, a budding environmental journalist and sports fan, in Kampala. Of course, such a discussion begs the subsequent question: is it even fair to expect a nation, that has contributed so little to the climate crisis, to include such considerations into the sporting growth model?

There is no simple solution, but, speaking from both lived experiences and observations, Sharon gives us her preservative which informs a much better understanding of the problem - a problem is crying out for further consideration from the relevant stakeholders.

Manchester United have started the 2022-23 season badly with two straight defeats and face Liverpool in their third game. I am joined in the Pod by Bola Adegbonmire, Doc Ijay, Tuka Lekura - our regulars. Ohis (Mamba Mentality), Jide Johnson, Kayode Kolawole and Bukayo Ewuoso are the new comers to the board.

Was a quite emotive pod 

Regulars to the Pod, Sola, TY, Kay and Seyi are joined by debutant Tobi to preview the 2022/23 Season for Chelsea.

For Kay "Chelsea can win the league because we are Chelsea, there nothing that can surprise me." Seyi on the other hand feels that making the top 4 will be an achievement. Sola just wants the team to close the gap on the Top 2 of City and Liverpool. 

An absolutely boisterous episode as it always is when I host the Chelsea fans. 

The 2022/23 Premier League season starts Friday the 5th of August 2022. We start a preview show with Arsenal. I am joined by regulars Ruth Odunayo, Bimboh Adekoya and Mayowa Kolade. We also made room for first timers Victor Owo and Wale Taiwo.

There is a general acceptance that finishing in a Champions League position will do for most in the Pod. However, Bimboh said he is getting the 2003/04 Season vibes off this team. He expects them to challenge for the title and perhaps win it. 

Stranger things have happened.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, UK is upon us. Mary Akinsola and her Gang will have a Series in the Pod before, during and just after the Games.

For this episode she has Godwin Nathaniel, Atinuke Esan, Busayo Olowookere, Raymond Tolulope in the pod. 

A Special episode in which new and regular panelists share their experience of playing sports and what might have been if they had followed through. Wisdom Obi-Dickson and Mohammed Abdulbaki are the newbies that joined Bola Adegbonmire, Lakunle Yusuf, Doc Ij and Bimboh Adekoya. 

Doc IJ loved playing basketball, Lakunle loved his hockey while the rest of us were pretty much football folks. Their stories are riveting and probably same across most of the world where getting higher education degrees tend to be high on the agenda of most parents.

The second part of Women in Nigeria Sports Media has Tega Onojaife, Ngozi Ezeuduma, Cece Omorogbe and Chibuogwu Nnadiegbulam their experience in this industry. 

They were candid as they talked about getting in, staying in and even on the sexual harassment issues they have faced. 

A must listen for young women wanting to get into sports media in Nigeria

Omotayo Kehinde a CFC fan is joined in the pod by Bimboh Adekoya, Rotimi Dada, Semiu Kasali and Coach Tolani to preview the big matches of the weekend in the Premier League. 

Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea host the Champions, Man City while Spurs make the short journey down the road to play Arsenal at the Emirates in the North London Derby.

Amazing how City are the underdogs in this match despite being the Champions from last season but majority in the pod feel so. 

Chelsea look unstoppable at the moment so we had two Chelsea fans Seyi Alao and Lawrence Omoregie in the pod with Michelle Dada, Doc Ij, Wunmi Thomas, Femi Kumuyi and Kunle Aderibigbe to review the weekend action of the clubs they support. 

It was very lively, to say the least.

To round it up, the panel was asked to pick their moments of the weekend. Kunle and Wunmi were different. 

Liverpool players, staff and their fans feel very shortchanged from the events and injuries of the last season that affected their title defence. Their top players are back fit and rearing to go. So are their fans. 

Calvin Emeka Onwuka is joined in the Pod by China Acheru, Emeka Nwabudike, Kunle Yusuf, Gogo Fonyama and Nedu Chikezie to preview the tea-time kick off at Anfield vs Chelsea. They also had time to discuss the Club's chances in the Champions League group stage and the premier league season.

On the visit of Chelsea, these fans are not having it. Home win! 

In an early season big game, title favourites Chelsea visit Anfield to take on the 2020 Premier League Champions, Liverpool. After a stroll at the Emirates last weekend the Chelsea fans expect a tougher match up north. 

Regular, Uzochi Okoroma is joined by Sami Bam, Seyi Alao and Ahmed Rufai Isah in the pod with Calvin Emeka Onwuka. They were very confident of leaving Anfield with a win.

Title Favourites Chelsea visit the Emirates to face Arsenal this weekend in what is going to be a cracker. Big Romelu Lukaku will be making his Chelsea comeback while Mikel Arteta will be hoping to welcome back skipper Aubameyang from Covid illness. 

Kay Suberu in Abuja and Ivan in Malabo are Chelsea fans in the Pod. They are joined by Arsenal fans Bimboh Adekoya, Amit Limbachia and Lekan Alli-Balogun. 

Chelsea contingent are certain of an away win while Bimboh believes that Arsenal's recent record Vs Chelsea will be maintained. It was fun times in the Pod

Manchester City fan Edwin Ibe joined in the pod for the first time. He is not overly troubled by the opening day defeat to Spurs, expects the club and Pep Guardiola to target the Champions League this season. 

Edwin joined Femi Kumuyi, Matt Smith, Tuka Lekura and Mayowa (Another first timer) to discuss the opening weekend of the premier league season. 

China Acheru moved in and out of the Podcast trying to discuss Liverpool's chances for this season.

Arsenal fans Bimboh Adekoya, Rotimi Dada, Matt Smith and Deji Oseni join Calvin Emeka Onwuka to preview their club's chances in the 2021/22 Premier League Season. There is a unity in the belief that Pepe will shame his detractors and be the shining light for the club this season. 

With James Maddison, Rotimi sees the club in the Top 4. 

Calvin Emeka Onwuka is joined in the Pod by Bimbo Adekoya, Matt Smith and Amit Limbachia to discuss the ongoing Euro2020. Dumfries of Holland, Locatelli of Italy and the heartbreaking moment with Christian Eriksen was discussed. 

Italy, France, Holland looking good while Southgate and England get scrutinised. However the quality of officiating was properly noted and praised.

Elias Pelembe, aka Domingues, is the incredibly gifted footballer who wears the band around his arm and carries the crest by his heart of our beloved national team. Humble and astute, he gave us access to some behind the scenes stories of the most popular sport in the world and his admirable career. In this Kubhula exclusive, we talk pre-game rituals, player image rights, adapting to life in South Africa, free-agency, mentors, post-retirement plans and his thoughts on the future of Mozambican football.
