We sit down this week with our buddy Alan Altizer to talk about our favorite subject!  Alan talks specifically about patterning deer at specific times of the year, and lots of general great tidbits on learning how to become a better woodsman!

This week Jeff Holchin joins Dalton and Alan to talk about his recent solo moose adventure.  Jeff is the epitome of a down to earth, blue collar, good Christian man!  Jeff recently returned from a successful Alaskan adventure.  Jeff shares the story and discusses the adventure, enjoying the entire process, and getting charged by a mad moose!

This week Brian Wessel joins Alan and Ethan for a great conversation a bout faith, family, friend, balancing life and bowhunting.  Brian has traveled extensively bowhunting critters from Alaskan grizzly bears, African game, and everywhere in between.  Brian is a very humble guy that loves everything about bowhunting, and definitely loves the pursuit of game with the bow and arrow for pure and simple reasons!  Great chat and we think you're gonna love it!

This week Alan and Ethan talk about what happens following the shot.  Lots of things happen in an incredibly short amount of time.  the guys talk about things to look and listen for and all the little clues gathered to make important decisions for retrieving animals.  Good woodsmanship discussion that probably doesn't take place enough!

Episode 21, re-release

On this episode we sit down with two of the most knowledgeable woodsmen we know.  Alan and Nathan discuss in detail the skills we can all improve on to become better woodsman.  If you're new to traditional bowhunting or hunting in general, or a seasoned veteran you can gain a lot of information from this one! 

Time is drawing near and soon those bachelor groups we've all been watching will start disbursing, antler will turn hard, testosterone will increase, and food sources will start to change.  As bowhunters, our job is to figure out how deer will adapt and relocate them.  There are a lot of subtleties that effect how animals move and use their surroundings.  On this episode Alan and Nathan discuss what some of those factor may be, now to identify them, and what to look for to key in on what to do next.  You'll definitely want to give this on a listen, and be on the look out for some videos on this topic soon!

Going back to the well with another woodsmanship episode!!  Great knowledge to learn or review, especially this time of year as our minds really start to get cranked up for fall, and we start to strategize about the upcoming season.

This week we're going back to the well a bit with a rerelease of Woodsmanship episode 50.  It's almost July, and the gears are starting to turn for the upcoming bow season.  Alan shares his thoughts on past lessons learned, subtleties, and adapting through the seasons progression.  This is about as good of a way to kick out brains into whitetail gear as we can think of, and some great things to keep in mind as we start to strategize on the upcoming chess match!

On this weeks episode we sit down with our resident stone point expert and none other than our buddy Paul Brunner.  Both of these guys have taken truck loads of animals with knapped heads.  We get into some of the history of stone heads regarding Native Americans and earlier peoples, the process of making heads and mounting them, and of course some bowhunting stories!  If you've ever had any interest in hunting with stone heads, you don't want to miss this one!

This week Alan, Nathan, and Ethan talk about facing challenges when things don't go according to plan.  Anyone that bow hunts long enough will eventually experience some disappointments along the way.  On this episode we discuss the importance of sticking with it learning to deal with those challenges.  Sometimes a bow hunter can do everything correctly, and the chips fall the in favor of our quarry.  But the hardships and obstacles only make the little victories that much sweeter!

This week Alan Altizer sits down with us as a follow up to last week podcast on marginal wind in mountainous terrain.  This week we discuss how to use marginal winds in flat terrain.  The features may be more subtle and have different factors to influence micro wind currents, but they are there!  Learning how to use them can be key to figuring out how to take advantage of a mature animals weakness, and how to create an opportunity!
