Who do you confess? - Matthew 10:28-33

Who do you confess? - Matthew 10:28-33
In this sermon, we dive back into Matthew chapter 10 and talk about who we confess. We learn there is no middle ground, you either confess Christ or you deny. We learn that the true confession is the confession that we are not righteous and we cannot obtain salvation apart from His grace! As the cost for confessing Christ gets higher, the genuine continue to stand because He is the one holding us!

"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:28-33

Who do you fear? - Matthew 10:28

Who do you fear? - Matthew 10:28
In this sermon, we dive back into Matthew chapter 10 and talk about who we confess and who we fear.

But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10-28-33

A slave is not above his master! - Matthew 10:24-26

A slave is not above his master! - Matthew 10:24-26
In this sermon, we dive back into our study in Matthew 10.

24 “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household! 26 “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known."

We learn that we are not above our master who is Christ. If we are slaves of Christ, we no longer live for ourselves, but for Him, and in the same way that they treated Christ, they will treat His followers. The question is, are we truly Christ followers?

A disciple is a learner, but we do not merely learn to know what is pleasing to Him, but also to practice what we've learned. Evidence of a genuine believer is that they will practice what they learn, by the grace of the Holy Spirit indwelling them. The Christian is known for their submission, first and foremost to God, and likewise in the institutions that He has called us to in this life. Government, employment, marriage, etc.

False prophets and healing! - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:15)

False prophets and healing! - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:15)
In this sermon, we dive back into Matthew 7:15.

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.".

We learn how deceptive the false prophet and teacher can be and how they use miraculous signs to deceive the masses. We learn not to be an experience or sign seeker, but to verify the words are from God. Looking to the future, we learn that this will happen in the end, and it could be far more deceptive than we think.

Love does. Love acts. Love obeys. - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:12)

Love does. Love acts. Love obeys. - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:12)
In this sermon, Doug teaches further on the Golden Rule, or rather the Golden Reality as we learned last week. We are to love our neighbor as ourselves, but that first comes from loving God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. We love because God first loved us. He is love and we produce the fruit of His Spirit in us. Love is an action! Love that works is the evidence of the genuine believer.

Your Will Be Done! -Part 3 - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:10)

Your Will Be Done! -Part 3 - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:10)
In this sermon, Doug unpacks what Matthew 6:10 is calling us to do. We learn what it means to pray for God's will to be done, and how we submit our desires to His. We learn that in order to pray for God's will, we first need to listen to God to find out what His will is by reading His word to us. We talk about how Jesus was our perfect example of this. If He had to submit His will to the Father, how much more do we?

Your Will Be Done! -Part 1 - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:10)

Your Will Be Done! -Part 1 - Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:10)
In this sermon, Doug unpacks what Matthew 6:10 is calling us to do. We learn what it means to pray for God's will to be done, and how we submit our desires to His. We talk about the false theology of thinking that God's will would never be for us to suffer. We study old testament examples of God pouring out judgment and pestilence in response to forsaking Him, and we talk about the righteous prayer of being able to pray for God's will even if that is judgment.
