UFC 293 Recap! Round-Up with Paul Felder & Michael Chiesa

UFC 293 Recap! Round-Up with Paul Felder & Michael Chiesa

Paul Felder and Michael Chiesa are back at it again on this episode of UFC Round-Up after one of the biggest upsets of the year!

To start off the show, the guys give their thoughts and takeaways from this past weekend’s UFC 293 main event, as Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya by decision to win the middleweight belt in a major upset.

Then, the duo answer 5 rounds of fan questions.

    1.      Who’s next for Felipe dos Santos? What a showing for a short notice scrap against a savage like Manel Kape.

    2.      What matchup is next for Alexander Volkov after a performance like that?

    3.      Was that the biggest title upset since COVID? Sean Strickland Fighter of the Year?

    4.      Paul, do you think Izzy should get another rematch right away? What’s your thoughts? Perhaps let’s do Dricus Du Plessis vs. Sean Strickland and Izzy vs. Jared Cannonier.

    5.      Here I lay stunned and inspired after that incredible upset that Sean Strickland pulled off. Question for both of you, what is a time in your lives where you pulled off a daunting task by sticking to the basics? This could be in broadcasting, fighting, auditioning, wrestling.

Following that, the guys do a special round 6 and give a shoutout to Laura Sanko for her pay-per-view commentary debut at UFC 293.

To wrap up the show, the pair look ahead to this Saturday’s Noche UFC: Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 event and Michael gives his picks for the main event between women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and former women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and the co-main event between welterweights Kevin Holland and Jack Della Maddalena.

    Erin Blanchfield, UFC Paris recap

    Erin Blanchfield, UFC Paris recap

Back from a week-long vacation, Jim Norton reunites with his good friend Matt Serra for a fun episode of UFC Unfiltered featuring women’s flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield!

An excited Matt Serra starts off the show by bringing Jim up to speed on all the things the comedian missed while out of town. The conversation then shifts to a recap of UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivac, where Matt and Jim start at the top of the card with their takeaways from Ciryl Gane’s TKO win over Serghei Spivac in front of his hometown fans in Paris.

Jim and Matt then explore whether the outcome of Saturday’s co-main event would’ve differed if Rose Namajunas hadn’t injured her finger against Manon Fiorot in the first round of their women’s flyweight co-main event.

That same conversation about the women’s 125-pound division continues when the guys are joined by second-ranked women’s flyweight Erin Blanchfield, who breaks down Fiorot’s performance against Namajunas before ultimately stating her own case to fight the winner of this month’s highly anticipated rematch between women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and former long-reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Din’s Got Answers: Bantamweight division, fighters coming out of smaller gyms with Matt Serra & Katlyn Chookagian on being a female fighter

Got questions about the UFC? Well, Din Thomas is here to answer them. Din will use his experience as a UFC veteran, analyst, comedian, coach to the biggest names in the sport, co-star of Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight, host of The Din Diaries, and more to answer your questions about everything and anything UFC related.

On this episode, Din answers three questions.

First, what’s up with how dangerous the bantamweight division is and is this the most dangerous division of all-time? Second, why are fighters having success coming out of smaller gyms? And third, what’s it like being a female fighter in a male-dominated sport? Plus, an additional topic, as Din answers questions from the fans!

What’s up with how dangerous the bantamweight division is and is this the most dangerous division of all-time? Din has his answer. He looks at the most recent bantamweight title fight at UFC 288 between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo, as well as how deep the division is.

Why are fighters having success coming out of smaller gyms? Din has his answer. To help answer this question, Din hollers at his homie, Serra-Longo Fight Team’s own Matt Serra. Matt talks about how his gym and fight team has developed multiple champions despite having a smaller gym. He further hits on how the culture he and Ray Longo have created at their gyms and fight team has contributed to their fighters being successful.

What’s it like being a female fighter in a male-dominated sport? To help answer this question, Din hollers at his homie, 6th ranked women’s flyweight contender Katlyn Chookagian. Katlyn discusses the challenges she’s faced while being a female fighter, such as if she’s had trouble getting fights early in her career and if she’s had difficulty getting training from coaches and sparring partners.

To wrap up the show, Din answers fan questions in rapid style. Keep the questions coming by hitting up Din on Twitter (@DinThomas) or Instagram (dinthomas).
