    WEDNESDAY WISDOM: C-Mode

    WEDNESDAY WISDOM: C-Mode

When you get an audition, don't immediately look at the breakdown (the description of the role). Instead, go straight to the script and follow your instincts on how to approach the character. Analyze why the character exists and why the scene is important. Once you have your own take, then look at the breakdown to see if there's anything you need to add. Don't try to give them what you think they want; be true to yourself and your instrument (your unique approach). Approach your audition with curiosity, confidence, calmness, and clarity (C-MODE). Don't just play at an emotion, be curious about why the character is feeling that way. Remember, there's no right or wrong point of view, but having a CLEAR point of view will make you stand out in the selection process. And if you need help, coaching, consulting, or cheerleading, I'm here for you (full C-Mode channeled)!

WEDNESDAY WISDOM: Casting Director Self-Tape Reframe

WEDNESDAY WISDOM: Casting Director Self-Tape Reframe

Yes, the climate is intense and frigid in the conversation around casting directors and the self-taping process for actors. Articles putting casting on blast have been in circulation. Conversations with working actors and developmental actors have been highly charged with a negative narrative looking for a scapegoat. Perhaps there is a little wisdom here on reframing our perspectives, where we as actors can be in control of our emotional beings and what we can do to help give respectable guidelines to the self-taping industry.

    WEDNESDAY WISDOM: Journeyman

    WEDNESDAY WISDOM: Journeyman

What is the true journey of an artist and how do we stay the course?  What is the point of focus to keep us along the journey.  As the wise once said, this career is a marathon not a sprint.  Where do we keep the focus to track our progress in the journey?  Today, Alyshia discusses the highlights of the Riley Smith episode and keeping the focus on that which you can control.

WEDNESDAY WISDOM: CONTROL In the Valleys

As we come into the holiday season, our focus as actors tends to be on the "slow" season. Let's take a minute to reflect on that which we can CONTROL in the slow times.
