This Isn’t Easy, But It’s Right

Kat joins Amy to help her share something that has not been a secret, but that she has kept private so she could heal and take care of her family. She is so grateful for the love and support during this difficult season and hopes that this glimpse into her life will help others going through something similar feel less alone.

This Is Your Sign To Try Something New (5th Thing)

This Is Your Sign To Try Something New (5th Thing)

“The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried. Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying.”  ― Roy T. Bennett

    Trying something new may:
    -Increase your self-confidence
    -Open doors to enlightening experiences
-Improve your memory, mood and motivation
    -Increase your adaptability and agility
-Also, when we experience something new and like it, our brain triggers a release of dopamine.

Why is it hard to try new things?
-Humans are often afraid of the unknown.
-Familiar things are more comfortable and easier.
-Trying new things requires a lot of effort and courage.

Amy & Kat want to do a “Trying Is Cool” challenge!! Are you in??

Some ideas of things to try:
    Bungee jumping
    Improv class
    Hip hop dance class
    Pottery class
Any new habit (daily journal, alarm, meditation)
    Going somewhere alone
    A tik tok dance
Cooking/baking (host a cooking night at house?)
    Cryotherapy
    Murder mystery party
    New book

Arthur Ashe says: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

Palliative care nurse Bronnie Ware recorded the top 5 regrets she heard from her patients as she cared for them at the end of life:
•"I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."
    •"I wish I hadn't worked so hard."
•"I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings."
•"I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."
•"I wish that I had let myself be happier."

Get a Grip on Your Finances (Older You Will Be Thankful)

Get a Grip on Your Finances (Older You Will Be Thankful)

Amy shuts down when it comes to finances, so she was excited for this chat with personal finance expert Paco de Leon. They talk about the roots of our financial fears, money saving tips, why it feels so good to spend money, joint accounts vs. separate accounts in relationships, emergency funds and so much more!! Changing your relationship with money starts by first examining your thoughts, beliefs, biases, and emotions around money. Paco believes you can’t change your relationship with money until you acknowledge the role those things have played on your views and beliefs on money. Paco, the author of Finance for the People: Getting a Grip on Your Finances and host of ‘Weird Finance’ podcast. Learn more about her work at TheHellYeahGroup.com and she is @TheHellYeahGroup on IG.

Episode 45 - Postnatal Support and 'Covid Babies' with Professor Amy Brown

Episode 45 - Postnatal Support and 'Covid Babies' with Professor Amy Brown

In this week's episode of the podcast, I had the privilege of chatting to the very lovely Professor Amy Brown.

Amy is a professor of maternal and child public health at Swansea University. She is the director of their research center - LIFT (Lactation Infant Feeding and Translation), and the author of 10 books and numerous research articles which can be found on her website.

During this episode, we chat about the importance of preparation in pregnancy for the postnatal period.

How all birth partners need to understand in pregnancy, that their role is to provide care to the woman and the baby in those early days and weeks after birth, which will help to facilitate feeding - if that is what the new mother wants to achieve.

Why it is vital that the right level of support is offered during the early days and continues on for the months that follow, which will hopefully eliminate trauma and grief, that can be experienced if and when a breastfeeding journey ends.

We also discuss some of Amy’s books, including her latest ‘Covid Babies’ which was released last week. You can buy a signed copy of Amy’s book from her website  - https://professoramybrown.co.uk
