E28 – Keeping it real while expanding your Emotional Intelligence with Amy Jacobson

    E28: Interview with Amy Jacobson

Amy is an Published Author, Keynote Speaker and Emotional Intelligence Specialist and, in this episode, we talk about everything EI. Amy discusses the truth about communication not being about yourself but about the person you are communicating with and the importance of being able to read people to allow you to adjust your style in order to feel connected with the people you are wanting to influence.

Amy shares a heap of gold nuggets in this episode including (but definitely not limited to) the fact that there are no bad emotions, just intensity of emotion that works for or against us. When it comes to AI, Amy also explains how we can’t use a text book approach because all people are different. We need to be adaptable to different people and different situation, recognising our triggers and understanding that the only thing that we have control over is how we respond to what is going on around us. In summary my key takeaway from this interview with Amy’s point that it is about keeping it real when dealing with people.
