    Episode Highlights

[02:31] Introducing Jenny and The Rooted Truth Podcast

    • Jenny has been married for 18 years and has 3 children.
    • She was previously in the mental health and fitness industry. She became a personal trainer after teaching herself weight training.
    • At the end of 2019, Jenny made a commitment to read the Bible every day.
    • Jenny was already incorporating the Bible into her fitness programs, but God directed her to start Bible studies and eventually launch her podcast.

    [08:57] How God Directed Jenny

    • She grew up in a Christian home.  She remembers a church member who prophesized that she will have something to say one day.
    • In 2021, Jenny struggled to keep up with her fitness business because of its superficial nature.
    • When Jenny felt burned out, she started hosting Bible studies. She had one that took 11 weeks long and resulted in over 170 pages.

[14:44] The Jewish Festivals and Biblical Feasts

    • The Lord’s Biblical feasts are not limited to the Jews.
    • Jenny shares how her studies and retreats coincided with important dates of the Feast.
    • She now partners with Remnant Rising to write Bible Studies.

(14:59) Reagan: “You need people to help you and come alongside you . . . It’s really fun to do things together and to have different creativity with sisters in Christ and people that God brings into your life. We’re not meant to do it alone.”

    [20:27] The Rooted Truth Podcast

    • Jenny’s podcast covers a variety of topics, from people being canceled on social media in 2020 to deep dives into Biblical topics.
    • There is also a members-only section for more controversial topics.
    • Jenny’s heart is for women to read the Bible for themselves.
    • Jenny also has a series of Bible Studies with corresponding PDF downloads to help people study them more.
    • There is a spiritual war. We need to be ready and know our enemies.
    • She shares how research about the Nephilim and pre-flood ancient technology has brought the Bible alive for her. Tune in to the episode to hear more from Jenny!
    • Gaining knowledge from her guests through their research on Genesis 6 has opened her eyes in a new way to the Scriptures.

[27:41] How to Look at the World and Be Grounded

    • Seek the truth with a Biblical perspective.
    • What do some of the mysteries of the Bible like giants really mean?
    • The more Jenny reads God’s Word, the more she realizes it’s a love story of God for us.
    • Jenny talks about having tough experiences, but she leaned onto God for rest and comfort.

(29:39) Jenny: “I do think it’s really important to have that Biblical foundation when you’re looking at the world because without that, I think a lot of people are falling into the New Age trap as well.”

    [33:45] Jenny’s Service

    • We all have a mission to spread His word.
    • There are so many things happening in the world. Wherever we are, that’s where we’re called to share.

(35:43) Jenny: “You don’t necessarily have to have a business around it or be on social media. Your mission field is where your two feet are planted. If we, as a body of Christ, actually step into that, what amazing things would happen for the kingdom.”

[37:39] Remember What God Did For Us

    • Remember God’s sacrifice and what it means.
    • This will help you understand who you need to be in Christ, not what the world wants you to be.
    • When man fell, the first sacrifice was an animal. The final sacrifice was the blood of Christ.
    • We don’t need to live in guilt and shame because of His sacrifice.

(38:21) Jenny: “So man fell, sin entered the world. That first sacrifice . . . God used that animal to cover them. So what now covers us [is] the blood of Jesus. So when you understand that and rest into that of who you are, not who the world wants you to be, but who you are in Christ.”

    [40:18] How to Raise Children

    • Whenever her children ask questions, Jenny would always point back to the Bible.
    • Children are different. We need God’s wisdom to guide us in raising them.

    [43:03] How to Stay Strong

    • Jenny recommends taking time off things. Pray and ask God for discernment and wisdom.
    • Be aware of what’s happening in the world.
    • God will reveal things to help people.
    • Remember, God is always with you. Bring Him more into your day-to-day life.

Reconstructing Ancient Superhighways with Stefani Crabtree and Devin White

Reconstructing Ancient Superhighways with Stefani Crabtree and Devin White

Seventy thousand years ago, humans migrated on foot across the ancient continent of Sahul — the landmass that has since split up into  Australia and New Guinea. Mapping the journeys of these ancient voyagers is no small task: previous efforts to understand prehistoric migrations relied on coarse estimates based on genomic studies or on spotty records of recovered artifacts.

Now, progress in the fields of geographic information system mapping and agent-based modeling can help archaeologists run massive simulations that explore all likely paths across a landscape, bridging the view from orbit with thoughtful models of prehistoric peoples and how they moved through space.

The new research expands our scientific understanding of how ritual and story encode vital geographic features, and sheds light on how our modern world is the product of deep, ancient forces.

Agent-based modeling in archaeology can also help save lives by improving science communication, empowering stakeholders in cultural resource management, and facilitating better international planning and coordination as the climate crisis looms…

Welcome to COMPLEXITY, the official podcast of the Santa Fe Institute. I’m your host, Michael Garfield, and every other week we’ll bring you with us for far-ranging conversations with our worldwide network of rigorous researchers developing new frameworks to explain the deepest mysteries of the universe.

This week we talk with Stefani Crabtree, SFI Fellow and Assistant Professor in Socio-Environmental Modeling at Utah State University, and Devin White, R&D Manager for Autonomous Sensing & Perception at Sandia National Laboratories. Stefani and Devin are the first two authors on the recent Nature Human Behaviour paper, Landscape rules predict optimal superhighways for the first peopling of Sahul, a project at the bleeding edge of agent-based modeling for archaeology that simulated over 125 billion potential ancient migratory routes.

In our conversation, we discuss bringing advanced technologies to bear on research into human prehistory; the ways humans make sense of space; how our minds and landscapes inform each other; and the ways agent-based modeling might help avert disaster for the sedentary populations of our century.

Why Do We Tell Stories? - TWB S1 E3

Why Do We Tell Stories? - TWB S1 E3

Part Three in the first season of Stories from the Hearth's bonus historical and interview series: The Wandering Bard. Each season of The Wandering Bard examines a different aspect of the history and nature of storytelling, as well as people behind it. In season one of The Wandering Bard, we ask the question “Why do we tell stories?”, and in today's episode, we examine the role of storytelling in education and learning, and examine storytelling as a tool used to pass historical, moral, and practical lessons down through the generations.

This marks the end of Season One of The Wandering Bard - Why Do We Tell Stories? In Season Two, we'll be looking at the history of the storytellers themselves.

Stories from the Hearth is an experimental storytelling experience ft. truly original fiction and thoughtfully produced soundscapes. The aim of this podcast is to rekindle its listeners' love for the ancient art of storytelling (and story-listening), and to bring some small escapism to the frantic energies of the modern world. Stories from the Hearth is the brainchild of queer punk poet, environmentalist, and anarchist Cal Bannerman. Vive l'art!

The Trojan War Part 3 (The long hard dick of Zeus)

The Trojan War Part 3 (The long hard dick of Zeus)

The Iliad is an ancient Greek epic poem in dactylic hexameter, traditionally attributed to Homer. Set during the Trojan War, the ten-year siege of the city of Troy by a coalition of Greek states, it tells of the battles and events during the weeks of a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles.

Behold the Masters of War (Trojan wars) Part 2

Behold the Masters of War (Trojan wars) Part 2

The story of the Trojan War has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television documentaries, stage plays, art and sculpture, souvenirs and collectibles. In the United States there are thirty-three states with cities or towns named Troy and ten four-year colleges and universities, besides the University of Southern California, whose sports teams are called the Trojans. Particularly captivating is the account of the Trojan Horse, the daring plan that brought the Trojan War to an end and that has also entered modern parlance by giving rise to the saying “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts” and serving as a metaphor for hackers intent on wreaking havoc by inserting a “Trojan horse” into computer systems.

Caesar Lacks Control - The Battle of Thapsus 46 BC

Caesar Lacks Control - The Battle of Thapsus 46 BC

Thapsus was a rare battle in that it showed Caesar not as the consummate warlord but as a general that at times had no control over his own army. The action was joined after one of his wings charged the enemy of their own volition and unable to call his men back, Caesar was forced to order an all-out attack. Again at the end of the battle, we see another instance of Caesar having no power over his men when the enemy army collapsed a large number attempted to surrender. In many cases, the Caesarian soldiers ignored the attempted surrender and proceeded to slaughter the defenseless victims. In one case the blood rush was such that a group of Caesar’s officers was mistaken for the enemy and butchered before the confusion could be put to rights. Between Thapsus and Munda, the final battles of the Civil War were not Caesar the General’s most exceptional performances.
