We talked about his upbringing in the rough part of Oakland, CA, how his environment forced him to be resourceful, being robbed at gunpoint and how implementing a hustle mentality in his life has helped him work with some of the largest brands in the world, such as Apple, Nike, Google, Sony, Acura, Canon and more.

Andy To - From the Hood to the Universe

Andy To is a photographer and filmmaker based in NYC. Along with his partner in life and business Joycelyn Linh, he travels nonstop creating content for brands including Adobe, Sony, Adorama, Apple, major airlines, and tourism boards globally. Andy says he’s dedicated his life to filmmaking and spreading positivity. He also loves to give back by teaching his craft to others. In this episode we talk with Andy about growing up in Oakland, the influence both his grandmother and high school teacher Mr. Jackson have had on his life, being selected as one of two travel videographers for Beautiful Destinations out of the 50,000 applicants. Andy To - High School Dropout to Filmmaker's Dream Job

Andy grew up on the rough streets of East Oakland. The camera was his escape and he is now traveling the world and creating content to spread positivity. I met Andy on the Sony Alpha trip to Cuba and was so so impressed with his videos. He has such an inspiring story and travels the world in such a meaningful way. In this episode we talk about landing your dream job (Beautiful Destinations & the Adobe Creative Residency), growing up in the hood, creating content with your significant other and Tim Cook sharing his picture!
