Anna Kendrick visits Google to discuss her book “Scrappy Little Nobody.”

Even before she made a name for herself on the silver screen starring in films like “Pitch Perfect,” “Up in the Air,” and “Twilight”, Anna Kendrick was unusually small, weird, and just a little defiant.

At the ripe age of thirteen, she had already resolved to keep the crazy inside her head where it belonged. Forever. But here’s the thing about crazy: It. Wants. Out. In “Scrappy Little Nobody,” she invites readers inside her brain, sharing extraordinary and charmingly ordinary stories with candor and winningly wry observations.

Enter Anna’s world and follow her rise from “scrappy little nobody” to somebody who dazzles on the stage, the screen, and now the page—with a voice, at once familiar and surprising, sharp and sweet, funny and serious.

Erik Childress flies solo on this one detailing his full experience at this year’s event. He shares his thoughts on over 25 films ranging from new titles from Richard Linklater, Alexander Payne and Kitty Green to even actors getting behind the camera including Anna Kendrick, Michael Keaton and Patricia Arquette. There are films with songs, stories with cops, drug dealers, hit men and serial killers plus two of the year’s very best films about teachers. Tales of everything from WWII to Spring Break, apocalyptic combat to Chicago’s Cabrini Green. Not every film is a dream though one certainly has a fun time with them not to mention the emphasis on women’s stories and trying to find peace in a world of bad men and at least one they call their father. Good stuff, great stuff and some really bad stuff in another festival season.

Sundance is on the horizon but Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy are still checking in with nine movies you can see right now; one of them from last year’s Sundance (When You Finish Saving The World) and another from ten years ago finally making its debut (Virtually Heroes). Steve catches up with Jafar Panahi’s latest (No Bears) and Erik watched a documentary about the Laemmle family business from home (Only In Theaters). There’s a string of horror films involving children including a party gone wrong (Kids vs. Aliens) and a trip to a cave gone even worse (There’s Something Wrong With The Children). We even have a comic horror tale from wunderkind Emily Hagins (Sorry About The Demon). Anna Kendrick gives one of her best performances in a real world horror story about mental abuse (Alice, Darling) and the team from Searching scour the web again for clues about another disappearance (Missing).

Trolls World Tour è un film del 2020, diretto da Walt Dohrn e prodotto da DreamWorks Animation. Ha ricevuto quattro nominations ai VES (Visual Effects Society Awards) ed ha ricevuto quattro nominations agli Annie Awards, tra cui miglior film.

Se nel primo film di Trolls la storia era incentrata sul regno della principessa Poppy, in questo secondo capitolo scopriamo che Poppy appartiene alla tribù del Pop e ne esistono altre cinque: Techno, Funk, Classica, Country e Rock. Ogni regno possiede una corda magica che consente ai suoi abitanti di suonare il loro genere musicale, ma la principessa del Rock, Barb, sta facendo un tour mondiale per rubare le corde delle altre tribù, in modo che tutti suonino soltanto musica Rock. Allora, Poppy parte con Branch per trovare Barb e convincerla che i trolls possono continuare a suonare la loro musica e vivere armoniosamente.

Trolls World Tour non espande il mondo di Trolls solo dal punto di vista dei generi musicali e dei personaggi, ma soprattutto per l'aspetto visivo. L'intero universo di Trolls è stoffoso e ispirato all'arte delle fibre, e questa caratteristica comune viene declinata in modo unico e diverso a seconda della tribù, abbracciando a pieno lo stile del corrispondente genere musicale. Anche gli effetti visivi, come fuoco, acqua e fumo, sono modellati su fibre e tessuti, con un risultato davvero notevole e creativo. Trolls World Tour è una storia classica, ma con dei risvolti interessanti e inaspettati. Infine, il messaggio della diversità e dell'armonia viene ben comunicato con l'efficacia dell'analogia musicale.
