    Building Strong Foundations
Dr Helen Collins - Building strong foundations: a paradigm shift for youth S&C coaches? Taken for the UKSCA Annual Conference in 2022, Dr Helen Collins presents. Resistance training for youth has increased in popularity, particularly from an athletic development perspective. However, while current physical activity guidelines emphasise the health benefits of strength-based exercise for the wider youth population, uptake in resistance training, and opportunities to take part remain limited. Dr Collins aims to showcase the broader impact of resistance training for youth with particular focus on those less active and/or at risk of obesity. Additionally, there will be emphasis on promoting a rewarding, alternative career path for strength and conditioning coaches, where the focus on improving physical activity and health has significant benefit for all."
