Luke 1 | Unveiling the Origins of John the Baptist and Jesus
Discover the meticulous craftsmanship of Luke's Gospel as we embark on an exploration that promises to fortify your faith with historical precision and prophetic insight. Luke, the physician and companion of Paul, offers an account that is as methodical as it is moving, preparing you to encounter the divine in the details of each narrative. Our journey begins with a look at Luke's intention to assure Theophilus— and by extension, each of us—of our beliefs, setting the scene with the story of Zechariah and the miraculous promise of John the Baptist's birth to an unlikely elderly couple.
As we delve deeper, the transformative power of the Holy Spirit takes center stage, marking a significant shift from its Old Testament presence. Through the intertwined tales of Mary and Elizabeth, we witness the Holy Spirit's profound impact on the heralding of John and the forthcoming Savior. The echoes of prophecy resound in Zechariah's regained speech and in Mary's Magnificat, with themes of faith and divine intervention threading through the narratives. Experience the anticipation and fulfillment of ancient promises as we reflect on Gabriel's announcements and the births that forever altered the course of history. Join us in this episode for a profound look at these pivotal moments that lay the foundation for the New Testament.
In Luke chapter 1, the stage is set for the miraculous births of two pivotal figures in Christian tradition: John the Baptist and Jesus. The narrative begins with the angel Gabriel appearing to Zechariah, a priest, foretelling the birth of John, who will prepare the way for the Messiah. Zechariah's initial disbelief leads to him being struck mute until the prophecy is fulfilled. Gabriel then visits Mary, a young virgin, informing her of her divine role in giving birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Mary humbly accepts, responding with the Magnificat, a profound song of praise. The chapter also highlights the miraculous conception of John by Elizabeth, Mary's relative, emphasizing God's power to overcome the limitations of age and biology. Through these extraordinary events, Luke 1 showcases the divine intervention shaping the course of human history.
Furthermore, Luke 1 provides a genealogy tracing Jesus' ancestry back to King David, reinforcing his rightful place as the long-awaited Messiah. The chapter underscores themes of faith, obedience, and divine providence, portraying ordinary individuals like Mary and Zechariah as central to God's redemptive plan. Their willingness to trust in God's promises despite overwhelming circumstances serves as a model for believers everywhere.

The Annunciation is a celebration. Listen to this episode to hear how Jesus picked up His cross on this day and carried it all the way to Calvary. He was brought into the world to die on the cross for our sins. He suffered on this earth but continued to carry His cross. Pick up your cross and carry it even with all the suffering.
241 Constant Procession
Spring equals renewed life as we contemplate a ‘do over’ in how to use small celebrations for Easter 2021, as we keep our isolation vigil during Corona- Round 2.
Also, March 25 is the Virgin Mary's Annunciation feast day that’s celebrated as the victory of a human being giving of herself to God’s will.
Hopefully this can inspire us as we continue along on our unusual Lenten journey 2021, towards the recognition of the great gift Jesus Christ gave us, his life for ours.
May this unique time in society of repeated Easter self-isolation afford us all a renewed hope for living a better life in this springtime of our lives.
Oh, yes, I thought I’d share my notes when I went for my 2nd shot- spoiler, there's a follow up at the end of the episode!

12.20.20 Advent 4B: Entering the Story
The narrative of our lives is woven into God’s holy narrative. As people of God, I hope that we articulate our story in terms of God’s salvation story. This is the time of the year that we start to reflect on the year, and in the midst of creative dumpster fire ornaments commemorating 2020 you might be hanging on your Christmas tree, I invite to also reflect on the liturgical year and entering the Story. Entering the Story, God’s story means recognizing that there are moments in our lives — even this year— that are Epiphany and Lent, Holy Week (that one is long) and Easter, Pentecost and Christmas, Advent and Annunciation. We find ourselves and our story woven into the sacred Story....
At some moment or another, we feel seemingly valueless in the eyes of the world. Like we do not matter, or are acceptable losses or expendable, or not worth another liberty of convenience. And in those moments, God’s grace is within us. God message, God’s annunciation is the conception of grace, the implanting and multiplying, and moving, and growing of grace within us so that it can be born out into the world. Beloved, we have a God who lifts up the lowly, and fills the empty and annunciates to those who feel valueless that in God’s eyes they are favored ones. I hope that in your life, in your story, you have you seen moments of annunciation.
