We contracted the services of Jake Serwin, co-host of America's premier Clint Eastwood podcast Pod Casty For Me, to take on a pair of films about a professional assassin having a crisis of conscience after botching his most recent job.

First up, we talk The Replacement Killers, Antoine Fuqua's first feature and Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun-fat's Hollywood debut, pairing him with recent Oscar winner Mira Sorvino for an extremely American riff on Hong Kong's Heroic Bloodshed genre, popularized by Chow and The Replacement Killers' executive producer John Woo.

Then we wade in to David Fincher's latest film for Netflix, 'The Killer'. It's a sharp, potent thriller hybrid that spits copious venom at our hyperconnected modern existence, hustle culture, and the gig economy while also functioning as a kaleidoscopic reflection on Fincher's entire career and ethos as a filmmaker.

Folge 1242: EQUALIZER 3 THE FINAL CHAPTER - Neun Sekunden in Sizilien

Folge 1242: EQUALIZER 3 THE FINAL CHAPTER - Neun Sekunden in Sizilien

    The Equalizer 3 review

    The Equalizer 3 review

No Denzel isn’t Malcolm X or a dirty cop or a Civil War soldier in The Equalizer 3. He again plays Robert McCall, a ex-government contracted killer who just wants to help even the score, or equalize, against bad people in the name of good people. In this finale in the Equalizer trilogy, McCall is in Sicily trying to equalize a situation and it gets bloody. Afterwards, he ends up in a small Sicilian town where he learns to care about the people and finds a home. However, some evil Italian mobsters terrorize the town and they’re interrupting McCall’s peace and tranquility. That’s the last mistake they’ll ever make. Is this movie worth the drive to the theater? Check out this spoiler-free review to find out. The Equalizer 3 also stars Dakota Fanning, Eugenio Mastrandrea, David Denman, Gaia Scodellaro, Remo Girone, Andrea Scarduzio, Andrea Dodero, Daniel Perrone, Sonia Ben Ammar and Zakaria Hamza.

    The Equalizer Franchise 🫖

    The Equalizer Franchise 🫖
On this episode of Movie Buffs we’ll revisited The Equalizer I & II in preparation for the third and final installment out this weekend. We celebrated Fuqua’s over-the-top yet masterful filmmaking and his uncanny ability to capture the charisma of a psychopath as well as the magic that happens when Denzel is inside anyone’s frame, especially one of his long time collaborators.

The Equalizer 3: 7 films that scream vengeance like the Denzel Washington action thriller

The Equalizer 3: 7 films that scream vengeance like the Denzel Washington action thriller
Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington is set to reprise his role as Robert McCall in the third instalment of the action thriller franchise The Equalizer. The Antoine Fuqua film will tell the story of a retired Robert McCall, who has left his former life as a vigilante behind and resigned to a quaint hamlet in Italy. However, he soon realises that his newly-acquired friends are forced to pledge allegiance to the mafia which dominates their very existence. Unsurprisingly, McCall taps into the particular skills that he had honed over the years to exact vengeance against those who have wronged his friends. Lead star Washington reunites with Dakota Fanning, nearly 19 years after starring together in Man on Fire in this film. Fans of the franchise don’t need to be told what to expect from this film that promises sweet revenge. But for this episode of List Hai Toh Hit Hai, we have narrowed down eight must-watch action thrillers that pivot around the theme of vengeance that pack the same action-packed sequences and thrilling turns.

Those Microsoft Layoffs may have a greater impact on gaming then we might realize, especially for Master Chief. NVIDIA and Google voice their concerns over the Activision deal, but stop short of jumping in Sony's bandwagon. Pour one out for Stadia, as today was its final day. Mark Hamill gives and update on playing the Joker, Spielberg wants to jump into TV, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are coming back. Meanwhile the BatVerse is more real then you realize, James Cameron hits another Billion, and Rainbow Six is coming to the big screen.

    S03E14 - Training Day (2001)

Welcome to Season 3 of Snubs & Dubs! This season we are covering the 74th Academy Awards, featuring the films of 2001.

For Episode 14, we are talking about Antoine Fuqua's Training Day. Training Day is a police drama about a veteran officer (Denzel Washington) who escorts a rookie (Ethan Hawke) on his first day with the LAPD's tough inner-city narcotics unit. "Training Day" is a blistering action drama that asks the audience to decide what is necessary, what is heroic and what crosses the line in the harrowing gray zone of fighting urban crime. Does law-abiding law enforcement come at the expense of justice and public safety? If so, do we demand safe streets at any cost?

    Training Day (2001)

    Training Day (2001)

Happy 20th Anniversary to the seminal crime drama which finally won Denzel Washington the Oscar for Best Actor!

It all takes place during one day as alluded to in the title as veteran LA detective Alonzo Harris (Washington) takes relative newbie Jake (Hawke) on his first ride-along throughout the city to teach him about the narcotics trade along with a LOT of stuff he wasn’t expecting.

This movie has pretty much become this generation’s Scarface…but is that a good thing?

It was directed by Antoine Fuqua and co-stars Scott Glenn, Cliff Curtis, Eva Mendes, and Ethan Hawke who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor that same year.

    TRAINING DAY

    TRAINING DAY

Finally, FINALLY: it's Denzel time. Denzel Washington, your parents' favorite actor and one of the top 3 superstars pumping out hit after hit still to this day, wins his lone Best Actor Oscar in the grimy, insane, GTA-inspiring TRAINING DAY, a dour portrait of a Los Angeles of Christmas Past when Sweetgreens didn't pollute every borough, Pacific Dining Co. was still alive and primarily funded by crooked ass cops ordering well-done steaks, and Echo Park before the transplants  gentrified it so hard that they could eat $23 take-out where bodies were once buried.

Are you a wolf? OR ARE YOU A SHEEP??

The duo discusses post-9/11 flops, Denzel Washington's disappointing track record, David Ayer's insane life story, the Church of Scientology, and being afraid of Mexicans. Are you ready to make detective?? Strap in.

    Relationships and Other Bullshit

    Relationships and Other Bullshit

Film Producer and Director, Antoine Fuqua and Nicole Murphy were seen kissing on a photograph in Italy. Antoine is married, but some folks are blaming his wife Lela Rachon's weight gain for him being attracted to another woman. I don't think it's cool that we are blaming Lela for her husband cheating.

Is it wrong for a woman to decline a man's public wedding proposal? I have mixed feelings about that.

After watching last night's episode of Queen Sugar, I think "Black Does Crack", but it's good to see Cree Summer again.

It’s throwback time on The Film Board as we take on Denzel Washington’s latest, The Equalizer. We discuss all the various social constructs Denzel and director Antoine Fuqua look to equalize, from guns and home improvement to racism and gender inequality. Plus, the film is punctuated with violence and not a little allegory. So join us — Andy Nelson, Steve Sarmento, Pete Wright, and the disembodied voice of Chadd Stoops — as we review this homage to Edward Woodward and ‘80s pop culture greatness.

Training Day 2001 (dir. Antoine Fuqua) Rated 18
Jake Hoyt and Det. Alonzo Harris spend the best part of a day in a modified car in the ghettos of Los Angeles. This is Jake's training day to see if he is up for being promoted from beat cop to nark; but what occurs instead is a rude awakening. The story follows them over a 24-hour period in the gang-ridden neighborhoods of the LAPD Rampart Division and South Central Los Angeles. The film was released on October 5, 2001 and grossed $104 million worldwide. Washington's performance as Detective Alonzo Harris, a departure from his usual roles, was particularly praised and earned him an Oscar for Best Actor at the 74th Academy Awards.
