Josh claims that he isn't actually the one responsible for most of his lines this episode, which is a shame because we had a fairly fun conversation about AIs, Miss Marvel, as well as some new games and shows.

Episode #56 feat. Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage

Episode #56 feat. Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage

They say some people can look intimidating and that's how Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach was once perceived,  but once you get to know the guy (or at least have a chat with him) you realise just how human and similar to the rest of us he really is, so you can imagine how stoked we were to have the metal frontman co-hosting on this week's episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall ahead of their appearance down under next week supporting Parkway Drive + their own headline shows.

A man with a few stories behind his belt (and his own podcast show to share them too) he was more than happy to open up  about his recent throat surgery which, if he didn't act on sooner, could have ended his career fronting the infamous metalcore outfit which he took over the reigns of following the departure of former vocalist Howard Jones, a man Jesse sparked up a long overdue friendship with not too long ago which cleared the air between the band members and consequently resulted in a wild collaboration no fan saw coming. Yes, he goes into detail about that too.

Podcast host Browny also pays respect to All That Remains founding guitarist Oli Herbert who has passed away at age 44, merely weeks away from the release of the band's ninth studio album Victim of the New Disease.

There's also New Music from Soilwork, Amaranthe, Soulfly, Affinity Minus Perfection and Psycroptic, throwbacks from Rob Zombie, Arch Enemy, Deprivation and heaps more...

Episode #44 feat. Karina Utomo of High Tension

Episode #44 feat. Karina Utomo of High Tension

If someone asks you if you've seen High Tension, chances are they're not talking about the brutal horror movie from 2003, but more so the brutal, heavy band from Melbourne featuring frontwoman Karina Utomo who we have been huuuge supporters of since first coming across the band back in 2015 at the annual Big Sound conference. Since then, the band has gone on to support for Cancer Bats, they've played at Splendour in the Grass and even opened the main stage at Australia's first ever Download Festival, so it's safe to say the future of heavy music in Australia is on good hands with this foursome.

Podcast host Browny spoke with the singer ahead of the release of the band's new album Purge (out Friday) to find out more about the inspiration behind the record, which was conceived after conversations with locals who were unfortunately involved or experienced the Anti-Communist Purges of Indonesia back in the 1960's. Karina explains the struggles she faced when researching the stories, which in turn, became songs on the record and what she hopes fans of the band will take from her story re-telling through the band's music.

There's also plenty of heavy music to get you through the week including new stuff from Alpha Wolf, Chelsea Grin, Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through, Gravemind, Antagonist A.D. and DevilDriver, throwbacks from Aversions Crown, Emmure, Falcifer, Arch Enemy, Earth Rot and heaps more...

Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall ‘The Download Edition’

Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall ‘The Download Edition’

Australian heavy music fans have finally scored another large scale music festival following the demise of Soundwave and Big Day Out in the form of Download Festival which made it's debut in Melbourne on March 24th, 2018 (our coverage here). Wall of Sound were invited along to have a chat to some of the bands on the line up including Sabaton, Arch Enemy, Northlane, Of Mice & Men, Ocean Grove, Amon Amarth, Clowns and Bad Cop/Bad Cop.

Join podcast host Browny and Wall of Sound writer/interviewer Todd Gingell as they get you up close to your favourite acts and ask the hard hitting questions like which musician Nic Pettersen of Northlane can't fuckin' stand, the audition process to get into Sabaton or if Clowns remember ANYTHING from their epic show in Nimbin alongside The Bennies and how Bad Cop/Bad Cop taught them how to draw a vagina… yes, we know, all the hard questions no one else will ask.

At just over two hours in length, you'll be remembering all the fun from the first Download Festival in Australia (or kicking yourself for missing out on all the fun), but don't stress, it's coming back again next year and expanding to Sydney too. Until then, wrap your ears around Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall 'The Download Edition'

Episode #22 feat. Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe

Episode #22 feat. Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe

Get ready for a trip and a half down memory lane as Ugly Kid Joe frontman Whitfield Crane co-hosts this very special 22nd Episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall while his band make their way across Australia for their 25th Anniversary Tour of America's Least Wanted. Whit takes fans behind the scenes of UKJ's massive single 'Cats in the Cradle' which, as you should know by now, is a cover of the classic 1974 Harry Chapin song of the same name, what you may not have known, is the song was also co-written by his wife Sandra, a fact Whit only discovered during a performance at the height of his band's popularity. We also take a look at the making of the song with Whit revealing to us that his vocals in the final cut, were actually from the first take because he was unable to better his performance, no matter how many attempts he had after.

Because Ugly Kid Joe got big because of a cover song, podcast host Browny has dedicated this full episode to some of the best new and classic cover tracks ever to be released. Featuring Halestorm covering Lady GaGa, Limp Bizkit's infamous George Michael banger, Panic! at the Disco nailing Queen, Bare Bones' tribute to Metallica and fresh releases like Five Finger Death Punch's brand new Offspring cover, Taberah's rendition of 'Hotel California' and Motörhead doing David Bowie, in what will be remembered as one of their last ever studio recorded songs before frontman Lemmy Kilmister passed away.
