Episode 35: Red Hot Chili Peppers vs Foo Fighters w/The Sports Desk (Round 2)

After a year of working alongside The Sports Desk in 2023, Jason invited the newest members of the crew, Jerry Ng and Liam Cole, two fellows who's music tastes are as far away from Rock n' Roll as you can get, joining him and Imran to talk Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters. This battle is arguably a contest between the best albums both bands ever released, Californication and The Colour And The Shape. Complete with multiple songs that have gone on to define each band's identity. It's a big risk to see if it is even possible to pick between them. Let's find out.

Episode 120: Help Woodsy Spread the Word, Cape Cod's First Automobile, Forgotten(but Great) 80s Musical Artists, Windsor CT(11-15-2023)

Episode 120 is chock full of fun, facts, and foolishness.
We go way Back In the Day to look at an informative and well-intentioned, yet slightly fever dream-ish 1977 educational short film starring environmental PSA icon Woodsy Owl. Give a hoot and check the full video out here: Help Woodsy Spread the Word
Today automobiles are commonplace with most people owning one. However a little over a century ago 'horseless carriages' were new and novel. When the first automobile came to Cape Cod it was front page news. Literally. Learn the story of the first car on the Cape and the way the newspapers went wild over it.
For every musical artist that crosses over into legend or icon status, there are many more that fall between the cracks. Some truly talented artists have been forgotten when they should be remembered. This week's Top 5 looks at some forgotten 1980s musical artists that should be remembered more.
This week's Road Trip brings us to the oldest English settlement in Connecticut as we visit the town of Windsor. With one hand holding onto its roots and the other hand ushering in the present day Windsor is full of history, scenic riverfront views, delicious places to eat, and much more.
The brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule looks back at journalist Nellie Bly's attempt to go around the world in less than 80 days to defeat the protagonist in Jules Verne's literary masterpiece.

MURDER STORIES on CRUISE SHIPS, DOCTOR TELLS STORIES ⎮ Meeting Gold - Dr.Davis

MURDER STORIES on CRUISE SHIPS, DOCTOR TELLS STORIES ⎮ Meeting Gold - Dr.Davis

Dr.Davis has been in the medical industry for 40 years! Growing up under relatives, including his father, a doctor. Davis inherited an extreme interest in medicine. Helping others was a passion of his. Starting with the swim meet in school, with their minor scratches and cuts to being a head physician on cruise ships for 10 years. Davis gave his heart and soul to his career. So it was a no-brainer when the scheduler asked him if he'd like to spend a month on a ship assisting, officers, crew members and passengers in the Caribbean.

Dr.Davis's experiences in medicine changed quite quickly being on cruise ships. Dealing with unseen situations lead him to write books about them. Not the kind of books you think a doctor would write about. Surprisingly, Davis's books are in the Murder Mystery genre, all fourteen of them! He shares true stories of things happening on the ships, such as trafficking, murders, and robberies. "Every day was a new story," Davis says, as he shares books he wrote, that tell tales of rash outbreaks on the ship. An on-shore museum robbery of a rare ruby that was in connection with a cruise passenger. Stories of x-rays identifying drugs found internally smuggled in from a woman travelling.

Davis's career became so much more than helping people to now, solve mysteries of the unknown. Davis always had problem-solving skills growing up and throughout his career in medicine. Finding out the "why" and how to fix it was what motivated Dr. Davis to find a resolution. "Being a doctor and how much the industry and tools have changed over the years has defiantly made things easier, but there is still a shortage of manpower, we need more doctors and nurses"! Explains Dr. Davis as he encourages people to join the profession. Helping other people, even if it's small, is such a fulfilling career.

Dr. Davis leaves us with this question. "What are you going to do to help others?".
