Episode 12 with Brooklyn Artist, Audrey Stone. Audrey is a painter that works with line, color and subtle color gradients. She observes the shifting color and light innate and describes it as an ecstatic experience. Audrey received her MFA from Hunter College and her BFA from Pratt Institute focusing on painting. She has exhibited widely across the United States as well as in Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, England, France and  Japan. Audrey has shown with Morgan Lehman Gallery, McKenzie Fine Art,  the Andy Warhol Museum, the Arkansas Art Center, the Columbus Museum, Geoffrey Young Gallery, Kentler International Drawing Space, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, ODETTA Gallery,  and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Her work is in many public collections including the Cleveland clinic, Credit Suisse, Fidelity Investments, New York Presbyterian Hospital and many more.  In this conversation we talk about line, about moving through various stages of work , about the constants of a place and the markers of what is left in a place. It's about imperfect perfection, soft edge painting, moments o excitement and calm. We talked about creating paintings about unimaginable places as a way to understand the unknowable and the stories that are lost. We talk about color, showing the work and so much more!

Jeff Ripple is an oil painter who creates fine contemporary realist paintings in the Luminist and Hudson River School traditions honoring North American landscapes.  Some of the contemporary painters that have influenced him are Joseph McGurl and Erik Koeppel.  A few of the Masters that have made an impression on Jeff are Frederic Church, Albert Bierstadt and Asher Durand.

Marc Brown was influenced at a young age by music but moved away from it to become a Dentist.  He found his love again for music at the age of 50 when, very suddenly, his life made a very large turn toward a new chapter in his life.  Since then, he has developed his skills as a musician and singer and with it, creating a legacy through playing the old, the recognizable and the beloved music of  Gus Cannon, Gene Autry , "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine and The Phantom Empire.  Also, there is a link for the song meaning of "The Midnight Special".  Marc's website can be found here.  As always, find me here.  Thanks for listening!  I promise, you won't regret it :)

Chris began her journey with paint about 15 years ago and has quickly developed her skills in oil.  She lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with her husband and is constantly inspired by the hues of the landscape and the wildlife that inhabit it.  You can see a large body of her work on her website here.  You can also see the work available in the gallery here.  She is also represented by Fine Art at Baxters in New Bern, NC.

Cindy has been an art educator for almost 40 years and all the while working to develop her own voice as an artist.  Her early influences, including her parents, were instrumental to her love and passion of the arts and which continue to this day.  She speaks of three artists along the way that have been of great inspiration to her and I wanted to create links to those so that you might get a little more insight into her creative aspirations as she moves and evolves into her own authentic voice. Donna Johnson is an artist and retired Jungian psychotherapist residing in Atlanta, GA and Cashiers, NC.  Her work which includes Oil and Encaustic imbues her work with archetypal symbolism which frequently appears in her work.  Her work has appeared in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy due to their archetypal content and her painting, "Flower People" aired on Season 1 of "The Resident" on FOX.  She is currently represented by the Reinike Gallery in Atlanta, Ga, The Encaustic Art Institute in Santa Fe, NM and at The Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio in Brevard, NC.  You can also view more of her work on her website

Raymond Vennare was obsessed with the study of Archeology, Anthropology and Art.  As he states, "it's the tangible artifacts left behind by those came before us."  His work has since come to embody those interests and to symbolize that journey.  We talk about his newest series, "If Walls Could Talk", as well as where he finds his inspiration for his writing, photography and mixed media art.
