    Jeff Bellew of Stavesacre

    Jeff Bellew of Stavesacre

Chapter 110: " * " ...as read by Jeff Bellew of Stavesacre

The self-professed "human asterisk" Jeff Bellew has recorded his first podcast chapter with ATSG. He has graced our ears with the latest Stavesacre release "MCMXCV", The Crucified "Pillars Of Humanity", Chatterbox, Mortal and the list goes on. Professor Bellew explains how we ALL should've been measuring our cassette lengths to figure out the genre. Jeff tells us his entire story and it's a good one...the accidental glance of a penny saver ad which led to a musical career all the way up to what might happen next. Beautiful guy inside and out. Enjoy!

This chapter is dedicated to my newest patron Brandon Graves. Thanks Brandon!

    DJ Sacrifice

    DJ Sacrifice

Chapter 109: "A New Heavy" ...as read by Darren Johnson, formerly and occasionally still of Living Sacrifice

Darren Johnson otherwise known as "DJ Sacrifice" swings in for a visit. DJ finally gives us the dirt on the fact that there was no dirt with his departure with Living Sacrifice; it was just time. I've been wanting to ask him about that for twenty years. Darren gives us one of the funniest stories I've heard yet: a dude SHOT HIMSELF to be in a band with Lance Garvin. DJ tells us some very old and timeless stories as well as an exclusive listen to a new project he was asked to do a song with called Tetelestai. I love doing this show for many reasons and this chapter is just another example of how amazing this journey has been. Thanks DJ.

    Alexis Marshall of Daughters

    Alexis Marshall of Daughters

Chapter 102: "Suns and Daughters" ...as read by Alexis Marshall of Daughters (and formerly As The Sun Sets)

    Recorded on March 31st, 2017

Alexis Marshall has been the lead vocalist of Daughters for 15 years. He was the lead in the group As The Sun Sets and I'd recommend them as well. This guy is actually one of my favorite vocalists because I love his approach to his vocal style. Snarky and backhanded with plenty of metal still in the tank. "Lex" tells me about his troubled childhood, parental stuff, living on couches and his climb out of alcoholism.

I love this discussion because he didn't have to open up like he did...but he did. We learn that the iconic "announcement" after As The Sun Sets and before Daughters was a mistake. There is plenty of turbulence in the band's past. And, hilariously, if it hadn't have been from Andy Low of Robotic Empire kinda lying to Lex and Nick they may not be back together now. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed speaking to him.

Andrew Elstner (Formerly of Torche, Riddle Of Steel)

Andrew Elstner (Formerly of Torche, Riddle Of Steel)

Chapter 95: "Death By A Thousand Cuts" ...as read by Andrew Elstner

(Recorded on Saturday Feb 4th, 2017)

We finally get a little bit serious with triple-timer Andrew Elstner. We have some serious topics to discuss. Andrew has since been dismissed from his role as the guitarist in Torche. Elstner tells for the first time what happened, sort of. We also talk about the passing of his amazing TILTS drummer and long time friend Ken McCray. Cancer sucks. Andrew connects some dots with TILTS members with some local St Louis bands and gives us a little insight to some great bands we don't know about (Prepare the google.)

Not really anything to link for this one, but check out TILTS!!! https://tilts.bandcamp.com/music

Chapter 95 is dedicated in the memory of Ken McCray. Thanks for the music, sir.

    Chris Raines of Spitfire, Sunndrug

Chris Raines has played drums for Spitfire, Norma Jean and now Sunndrug. Chris was nice enough to lay out his timeline and resume for all to hear. We discuss having twins and coaching little league. Chris Raines tells us about getting Stretch Armstrongs' studio time at Trax East, the story of Spitfire, owning a record store, joining Norma Jean, starting Sunndrug with Jimmy, and being a prank call ninja. Check out his new band Sunndrug through the link below. Thank you SO much for making the Zao double-chapter the highest listens I've ever gotten. Onward and upward!

We absolutely fall apart at the end; SUCH a fun hang.

Jim Settle (Tantrum Of The Muse)

Jim Settle (Tantrum Of The Muse)

I'm...still...wiping tears away as I type this from laughing so hard. Just got done talking with Jim Settle, bassist from our own Stephen's Tantrum Of The Muse. If you've never seen TOTM, then you've never seen one of the most entertaining bassists in rock 'n roll. Like a top athlete, Jim played through the pain, gave every single show his everything and usually had to be carried to the van afterwards. But no one EVER said Tantrum wasn't good live. And get this: he's started a hugely successful business and is an electrochemist. Yeah. Listen as we set up how they all met...road warrior stories ranging from squeegee rib injuries to windshield feces...Jim's new business and new band Bore...and an ill attempt at making Bruce Fitzhugh laugh.

Oh...and Stephen may, or may not, have AIDS. Eat yer froot loops, rubbernecker!
