Thanks to the research Why the Modern Family Office Matters, we know that wealthy families have a huge positive social and economic impact on our nation.

But lasting impact depends on those families going the distance, prospering over the generations. And an important part of prospering is having open conversations about the challenges of wealth transfers, and sharing family history.

In this special episode of Purpose of Wealth, host Narelle Hooper sits down with Lady Marigold Southey, the daughter of one of Australia’s most significant retail empires.

How has the Myer family built and maintained such a substantial business and philanthropic legacy into its fifth generation? What is the glue that keeps the family together?

You’ll find out from Lady Marigold Merlyn Baillieu Southey AC herself.

Christina Exie, Founder & Creative Director of EXIE - An athleisure brand purpose-built to unleash your inner badass!

Christina Exie, Founder & Creative Director of EXIE - An athleisure brand purpose-built to unleash your inner badass!
In this episode, I chat with Christina Exie, the founder and creative director of Australian athleisure brand EXIE.
When Christina won reality TV show in 2012, judges Megan Gale and Peter Morrissey deemed her pieces worthy of any Milan or Paris runway - they said she was ready for global design success!.Ten years later, Christina says it turns out she is!Project Runway
Christina's mission is to give women technical activewear combined with a street-style aesthetic and inspire them to unleash their inner badass and to feel powerful in all facets of their lives.
EXIE’s athleisure wear was created in 2019 when Christina couldn’t find minimal, bold activewear that made her feel strong and sexy.
EXIE is kind to the planet operating as an ethical and sustainable business.
More than 60 percent of the collections are produced from recycled fabrics.
In less than a year after Christina began building her e-commerce business from her Melbourne spare bedroom, the brand’s vision was recognised via a partnership with the renowned Accent Group.
Now Exie has five retail stores across Australia!
Exie’s values and aspirational lifestyle have attracted high profile collaborating partners.
That success proves while Christina got her start as a designer on reality TV after a fashion degree, at heart she is an entrepreneur.
Christina has helped multiple six figure brands scale from concept through to operations, providing advice from her 15 years of global roles and personal experience founding and growing two e-commerce, wholesale and now retail businesses.
During roles as a designer, merchandiser and marketer for billion-dollar brands across the globe, my technical design and tailoring capabilities helped establish key fitting and design standards for boutique and chain retailers.
Described in national media as “the person to watch”, Christina is a fashion industry leader and forward thinker.

It was exciting to hear how Christina has grown her brand over the last three years, and her entrepreneurial, kind approach to business was inspiring!

Jeremy Meltzer, Founder of i=Change - The power of a committed brand with purpose, and retailing for good.

Jeremy Meltzer, Founder of i=Change - The power of a committed brand with purpose, and retailing for good.
In this episode, I chat with Jeremy Meltzer, the Founder of i=Change. Jeremy is a social entrepreneur and inspiring voice for women’s rights globally. He created i=Change to help accelerate the impact of extraordinary development projects, focused on empowering women and girls. As a young man, Jeremy was moved to action while living in Cuba. He was shocked at how violence against women seemed accepted and was even considered 'normal' across Latin America. This left him with a burning question... Why is such abuse so common in some communities while abhorrent in others?
Over the last ten years in an attempt to understand this issue, Jeremy's met with NGO's and communities in many countries around the world. Jeremy believes the solution lies in engaging men, challenging the dominant versions of masculinity, modeling respectful relationships to children, and funding best-practice NGOs. Jeremy is passionate about the enormous potential, that often won't be realised, in women and girls around the world. What would they build if they could? How could i=Change be part of the solution?

In partnership with over 350 retailers like P.E Nation, Camila, Pillow Talk and Clarins, including collaborations with Afterpay and ARA.
i=Change has raised $1at a time - over $5.8M and counting (as of 28/5/22), impacting the lives of up to 1.3M people in Australia and globally.
i=Change is leading a purposeful retail movement and changing retail for good so that it's no longer enough to sell a product.

Donna and Marcello Abbate, Founders of Fit for Life - How to create a thriving workplace, embody a wellness culture and lead impactful change!
Enjoy tuning into this enriching episode focused on Wellness and Mindfulness.
    Workplace Wellness statistics:
Burnout, stress, physical health and anxiety are significant issues in the workplace...throw the pandemic's mental health impact into the mix – and business leaders now need to meet dramatically heightened needs for health and wellness support.
The CSIRO conducted a study with 4,000 participants emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns feeling their exercise (66%), emotional wellbeing (41%) and diet (36%) had worsened to some degree, with two in five indicating they have gained weight during the outbreak, and 60% reporting a negative shift in their overall satisfaction with life.
The Medical Journal of Australia has concluded that mental health problems were at least twice as prevalent as in non-pandemic circumstances, and one person in every five is now experiencing clinically-relevant depression symptoms.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has also reported 21% of Australians also said they had started drinking more alcohol - this is more than double the global average (10%).

Needless to say, we’re in dire need of solutions, support, healing and step by step Wellness & Mindfulness frameworks that are accessible and REALISTIC to implement into our daily lives.
So setting the scene, this is why I’m so excited to introduce you to my guests, Donna and Marcello Abbate because they have a Solution and it’s absolute GOLD.
Who wouldn’t want to bring WELLNESS into our individual lives by working on ourselves which should always be the priority, but to also create a Mindful, Vibrant, Productive, Creative and Connected Workplace.

Donna and Marcello Abbate are the founders of FIT FOR LIFE, mind, body and soul.
is one of Australia's most well known wellness leaders. She has facilitated changes in thousands of lives whilst working with Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat for more than a decade. He is a Tai Chi, mindfulness mentor that initiates real changes in the workplace, with families and individuals’ lives as he enables long lasting change, psychologically and physically.Marcello

During this conversation, Donna and Marcello share insights into their journey and WHY they do what they do, and they share how WE can access and embody the teachings they offer and create the best versions of ourselves and Workplaces where we can THRIVE.

Emily Riggs - Founder & Creative Director of Iris and Wool - A Farm to Fashion label and a journey of pain to purpose!

Emily Riggs - Founder & Creative Director of Iris and Wool - A Farm to Fashion label and a journey of pain to purpose!
In this episode, I chat with Emily Riggs, the Founder & Creative Director of Iris and Wool.
After cancer struck, twice, Emily designed a life with purpose
When she was just 10 years old, Emily was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Shortly after her diagnosis, her mother lost her own cancer battle, passing away from breast cancer, aged 43.
In her most difficult days, Emily found herself turning to fashion for comfort and to express her creative flair.
Years later, Emily found love with Tom, a fifth-generation merino sheep farmer. Together, their family runs 15,000 merino sheep across their 100,000 acre property in Burra, South Australia.
In 2019, after welcoming two children, Emily founded Iris & Wool and finally realised her dream to design, merging her love of fashion with merino wool.
‘Iris’ is in honour of her mother’s favourite flower and five percent of every sale is donated to the McGrath Foundation to provide ongoing support to people experiencing breast cancer.
It’s always a special moment in time for me to witness one of our community members pursue their passion and purpose, launch their fashion business but grow and thrive!
What stood out for me during this interview was that Emily shared how rewarding her business was, that it has given her a confidence that she has never felt before and shared that her business is good for her Mental Health.
I was inspired by Emily’s story, her gorgeous brand Iris and Wool and her goal to go GLOBAL and share Australia’s precious merino wool worldwide and I’m sure you will be too!

Achieving more balance in 2022 - Masterclass with your host, Elizabeth Formosa

Achieving more balance in 2022 - Masterclass with your host, Elizabeth Formosa
I’m so excited to launch season 3 of the podcast and dive into our first episode for 2022!

So many of us have stepped into this year looking at our life through a completely different lens.

So many of my clients, colleagues, friends, and family have experienced some profound SHIFTS.

    Whether that is around:
    - Values and the way we live our lives
    - Career Path
    - Business Direction
    - Passion and Purpose
    - Ambition and Aspirations

So in this episode, I wanted to chat about whether starting that THING – whether it’s a new job, a new business or a new adventure is for YOU!
Here is a framework that has been transformational for ME and my 1:1 clients time and time again.

It’s called the .Wheel of Life

This is well known powerful development tool because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way , compared with the way .your life is currentlyyou'd ideally like it to be

It is called the "Wheel of Life" because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel.

    Essentially, it's:
    1. Snapshot of where you are now when it comes to key areas of your life
    2. Your level of satisfaction with where you are now - 1 being lowest – 10 at highest
    3. And it provides a framework to assess not only where you are now, but most importantly where you WANT TO BE and can be the catalyst for creating an action plan that is laser focused on your IDEAL life goals.

You can customise the spokes on YOUR wheel, but typically they would include key areas of your life such as:

    - Health
    - Family
    - Friends
    - Career
    - Finances
    - Purpose
    - Love
    - Self Development
    - Contributions

The steps to work through this powerful process start with:

    1. A Brainstorm of your Life Areas

    2. Think About Your Ideal Level for Life Balance

    3. Take Action!

You can find your wheel of life template here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PMfNkPiKxL2MeNdzPp7DbMKee1QwlRNV?usp=sharing

Molly & Emma - Co Founders of JAM the label - "Fashion that's Functional - a clothing brand created for young people with disability in mind"

Molly & Emma - Co Founders of JAM the label - "Fashion that's Functional - a clothing brand created for young people with disability in mind"
In this episode, Elizabeth speaks with Molly Rogers and Emma Clegg, the Co-Founders of JAM the label.
Molly and Emma met while studying occupational therapy at university and bonded over a shared passion for their work. They were both casual disability support workers for teenagers, Jack and Maddie, at the time, and would often discuss how difficult the teens found dressing, as they both used wheelchairs. “Not only was it difficult for them, but anything that was easier for them to get dressed in was not cool and wasn’t something that we would have wanted to wear when we were teenagers. Why should they have to compromise on fashion just for functionality?” Emma says.

Soon realising this is a common experience for the one in five Australians with disabilities, Molly and Emma launched JAM the label in 2019 (named after Jack and Maddie), a clothing brand born out of the need for inclusive clothing for young people with disabilities. Design features include shirts that close with magnets instead of buttons, jackets that zip up on the sides, and pants that have extra room for comfort when seated and a subtle drop crotch for discretion when using continence aids.

Since launching small with just one product, JAM is now stocked with three external retailers, including EveryHuman, Averee and THE ICONIC. “Our dream for JAM is to be the number one inclusive fashion brand in Australia. We want everyone in Australia to have the opportunity to wear clothes that make them feel cool, that they’re very proud to be wearing, and we don’t think that should be any different for people with disability,” says Molly.

Elizabeth was inspired by this chat with Molly and Emma and was so impressed with the achievements these dynamic Co-Founders have achieved in a short period of time. They are clearly on a mission!

In this episode, Elizabeth speaks with Ross Phelan, the Managing Director of cherrichella.
Ross launched cherrichella, a Melbourne designed, limited edition footwear brand in 2020 which is sold via cherrichella.com.au and other leading online marketplaces including The Iconic & Surfstich.
Ross has worked in the fashion industry for 20 years and started within the industry as a footwear Product & Sales Manager working for Therapy Shoes.
Ross has developed and sold footwear to most of the best national retailers in the country.

Lanamara - Sisters, Marika & Ilana share their journey creating their namesake label, working with artisans and empowering women.
In this episode, Elizabeth speaks with sisters Marika and Ilana who started their namesake label Lanamara when they couldn't find handbags that sparked a sense of modernity and uniqueness but also practicality.

After previously making clothes for themselves which reflected their open-spirited style and sensibility the pair thought it was an opportunity to bring this same influence to the Australian handbag and accessories market.

Marika and her mother, Maureen a talented artisan herself, started making bags from their home studio for family and friends and after receiving encouraging feedback the sisters undertook considerable research before deciding to head to India to find artisans to create their designs.

Their range of bags, baskets & accessories strike a balance of being both aspirational and accessible.

After launching their first collection in December 2020 they have just released a limited edition Australian-made capsule collection.
