    Cosplay Judgement

Are you being judged? By yourself and others in Cosplay? Cosplay has become ultra-competitive.  Not only do you feel the pressure of making the costume and showing up, but now it seems that you'll be judged if you do not show up in a costume!  It's just expected when you go to a Con.

This week, I want to explore the feelings behind, and the imagination that goes into judgement. Often, it's not really there - we just imagine it is. The way people think about us is often not bad at all! That's if people can even spend more than a moment even thinking about what others are doing.

Staying in your lane to build your personal brand is how the game is played. If you find yourself being judgy or feeling overwhelmed by other people's opinions that you may want to check yourself (...and you know the rest).

Let's talk about judgement, the feelings, and how to be supportive.  Not just supportive of what others are doing, but silencing that interior monologue that wants to tell you exactly how talented you are with something. There's all kinds of judgement and it is a huge part of the increasingly competitive cosplay industry.  Remember when this was about being a part of something, fandom, and just being able to have fun?  Let's work on bringing more of that back!
